That's what I'm wondering because I doubt it was always kept in their garage. The photo JW took of it wasn't taken in their garage. If parts were stolen off of it in the days PRIOR to the murder, it could be the reason why it was moved to the garage and it would explain why JW had the registration with the VIN number in his car.

JMO

Why would that explain why he had the registration with him? Because he
had to transport to the home recently?

Maybe he was going to use the registration to obtain a copy of the title? And just maybe prior to killing him, SS was forced to sign the title?

JMO

Takes a notarized and sign statement by the owner in person to do that. Expired registration would be of no help. Homeland Security has caused DMVs to crack down significantly on ID requirements to transfer vehicles. This dog doesn't hunt. Good idea, though.

I was wondering if any jewelry was stolen . I would imagine AS might have had some nice pieces of jewelry and if anyone tried to fence anything .

They might not know yet. I think that would require her mom or her daughters to go through her jewelry box and emotions may still be too raw to do that. It's a given that anything of value that can be easily fenced or pawned was put in the Porsche before it, too, was stolen.

I ran the Carfax on the Mosler. It passed the DC emissions test on January 3, 2015. That is usually done when renewing registration, which can be done online. Already noted elsewhere, it was registered in Maryland in November 2011.

I find this very interesting, because all the required info would be on the old registration.

Applying for a Duplicate Title
You can obtain a copy of your MD certificate of title online, by mail or in person at a local Maryland MVA office.

The easiest way to replace a lost title is through MVA's online service. You can always go to your local MVA office, but as always, be prepared for the wait.

Online
You'll need the following materials to apply for a replacement title online:

Vehicle title number.
License plate number, if applicable.
Payment for the $20 replacement fee.
You can use VISA, MasterCard, or check (MVA doesn't accept money orders or travelers checks for online payment).

So why does the garage picture show a Florida plate?

Not sure where you got this info, but I'm finding it VERY hard to believe PS had a fb account. Perhaps you are confusing SS & PS checking in? As someone who was good friends with AS & I was also/still am her fb friend. PS was NEVER tagged in any of her posts (but other family members were). Please note I am talking about her private posts which only friends of AS's can see, not the public. Moreover, I know of ZERO classmates of PS who have FB accounts. Also, please know AS & SS were probably the MOST protective parents in the class in already very protective community of parents... case in point, last fall a classmate (whose parents knew AS & PS very well) had his birthday party at their house on the Eastern Shore (of Md)... just a handful of boys were invited and stayed over the weekend with the family, AS & SS did not let PS go for the sleepover part but instead accompanied PS for the day on the eastern shore. They were extremely careful about who he spent time with and what he was exposed to. Again I state that perhaps you were thinking of SS not PS for checking in.

Finally, as I stated earlier, as a longtime parent of a child who was in PS's class for many years, I can also say with certainty that nearly all of PS's classmates do NOT have cell phones. (Interestingly, most 5th graders at PS school do have cell phones, but only 1 or 2 4th graders).

PS did have a facebook account. He was "friends" with his mom, his sister, his grandfather and his racing coach, amongst others. Lots of race car drivers. :)

Not challenging this at all! Just wondering if you mean claim AGAINST hospital for remuneration for trying to save her life and failing to or some other circumstance? Maybe you meant a claim for the hospital bill which might have been incurred.

Well, let's not forget, the "inheritance" is probably going to their surviving "children". Sorry, but just because someone has worked for or inherited "millions" doesn't entitle someone else to it. That always ashtonishes me that some people feel so entitled to someone else's money simply because they are wealthy. JMO

SS was probably with him... IDK, this registration being in WJ's backpack is soo crazy IMO, other posts suggest that JW was getting the registration renewed for SS, others... he was planning theft, what's everybody opinion?

IDK

Thank you. If he dropped the money off, new the family was dead, could he
have taken it then? Or was this a plan that went wrong somehow. I don't think he realized LE would be taking his car that evening. Is WJ the type of person to
carry his passport with him? Or was he prepared in case a problem arose?[/QUOTE

Assuming he has a DL, since he's a driver, a reason someone might carry a DL and passport on them is if they thought they needed two forms of ID for something. (Trying to think what that be for....signing a financial doc, etc?) or if they are mobile (as in moving) and want to keep it on their body. Normally, if not traveling, moving or doing intl biz deals, I think people try to keep their passport in a relatively safe, static place at home. A drawer or file, for instance. (And JW was "apparently" buttoned up enough to have his own money bag...But if thinks he might not have the luxury to go back to his home if he, say, ran into trouble with the law, were worried he might have to be on the run quickly, he would keep all of his ID on him.

My son got his first cell phone at 10 so he's 14 now. It was a flip phone....no bells and whistles. He came home one day and told me he was the only one at his school with a flip phone and everyone else had IPhones. :laughcry: I was like dude......do you have any idea how lucky you are!!!!!! You have a gadget in your pocket that shoots a signal to space and someone answers and talks to you! Unbeleivable.

If I recall correctly, JW had entered to participate in a race in Italy sometime this summer? That could be the reason for the passport.

Also, my guess is that SS would have had a detailed list of valuable jewelry, possibly kept in the safe. And jewelry might have also been included in a home insurance policy.

Just my two cents.

Did the family have a place of residence in Florida? Maybe where they went sometimes during the winter?

Likely the stolen registration would serve as a template for a phony reg. to be made up on another car, perhaps already stashed, or could be doctored to sell Mosler to a black market dealer. Another option, ship it in parts to a buyer (West Africa, the Middle East, Eastern Europe above price they get here). Organized crime runs luxury car theft rings. How hard for JW to run across some flasher at the track or online? Lots of forums where contacts can be made.

That SS and AS owned a fleet of high-end luxury cars, and JW was a car guy, is no coincidence JMO.

JMO lying about Mosler being locked figures. Maybe JW thought the first story that it was locked and he had to unlock it was a good answer, but then decided "locked" was "wrong," so switched story to car unlocked.
Were investigators pressing him for how he would have access to the key? No, no, I didn't. Not at all interested in it so how would I know where key is?
He starts to think someone told them Mr. Savopoulos kept Mosler locked and never let anyone except family know where keys kept. He's thinking they think he got the key from DW who got it off of its owner. If so, why would DW not kill him so as to be sure he didn't run to police?

He starts thinking his having access to the key will lead them to think he could make off with the Mosler.
He hears the Tell Tale Heart beating. Ironically, interrogators might not actually know anything about the Mosler security drill, locked or unlocked, JW given access to key or not.

He kept lying to cover the big lie, that he was part of a scheme to get money and steal cars.

Thinking he heard a tell-tale heart and that everyone else could hear it too is what made investigators look for a body under the floorboards. JMO they have found some of the parts.

Maybe he was going to use the registration to obtain a copy of the title? And just maybe prior to killing him, SS was forced to sign the title?

JMO

I live in MD- you get the title of the car upon purchase of the vehicle. No need to use registration to obtain. Just an FYI

Thinking he just got to packing his bag weeks ahead of time and put it in his car to be prepared, assuming he was going to park his car at the airport for his whole trip? That can get really expensive! Or meaning, he had to give passport info to someone re the race (registration, etc.) so he kept it handy in his backpack? The latter would make sense to me.

Yes but I think SS probably kept the title in a safe and JW wanted to get a duplicate.

QUOTE=zencompass;11827276]I really believe your heart is in the right place when you bring this matter up. No one likes to talk about the costs of funerals, etc. but it does have to be discussed.

I trust that S.S.'s family has taken care of this and been in touch with Vera's husband. The members of this family have been known to be kind and caring. In the aftermath of this horrible crime, I would expect that the family was in touch with Vera's family just even to share grief together. JMO[/QUOTE]

I read that the Go Fund Me page was to assist Vera, her family, and friends to travel back to El Salvadore where she would want to be laid to rest

I doubt seriously that JW thought LE would take his car directly from the house fire! Another miscalculation. Can you imagine what LE thought when he lied about whether the car was locked or unlocked, and then they find he has the Mosler's registration in his backpack?! There is simply no legitimate reason for that to be in his possession. None. If I stick with my theory that the Mosler was locked and remained locked during the crime, he would have had to take the registration earlier, during one of his joy rides. Trying to imagine when he would have been alone with the car, as I can't imagine he would reach into the glove compartment and grab the registration while SS was watching. This is not the behavior of someone who will long be employed by SS, IMO.

If he took it earlier, this points to a plan laid at least weeks in advance. No question in my mind that he was going to try to get a duplicate title. I'd like to know if one was requested in the last few weeks via Maryland DMV online. When I get a new registration, I just stick it in with the old one in the car "portfolio" in my glove compartment. I can't imagine someone giving the old one to an employee as a "souvenir". It's a legal document with the car's VIN and title number - not something you want floating around. This is another example of JW doing something that doesn't make any sense. Unless SS gave him the registration, he stole it. What purpose could he have for it? How confident was he that SS wouldn't notice it missing? Did he figure it would be too late to matter by the time SS noticed?

If my theory is wrong, JW could have grabbed it when he dropped off the ransom money. But WHY WOULD HE DO THAT?!
