We were at a Big Lots-type store today and there were My Pillows. Hubs started to reach for one and damn near came back with a bloody stump as I restrained myself.
Thank goodness you prevented a disaster in your home! one of those lumpy ugly pillows taking up residence on your bed!!!!!

Oh boy, we are so lucky. Tucker Carlson is going to be touring Australia ... it is a Freedom Conference. Because apparently Australia is not woke and is ruled by an authoritarian govt (who kept us safe during the height of covid).

He sure is keeping himself busy following his ejection from Fox following the Dominion debacle.

Hopefully this will follow in the way of trump Jr's planned tour that never eventuated (yet).

Haha and I thought I was crazy :D

I was telling a friend that I read he was going to be touring Australia.
Then I thought, wait there, did I just dream that :D

Yes I hope the tour goes the same way as Don jr's went.

And just when I was starting to think better thoughts of Clive Palmer.

I think a lot of Aussies may not even know who the heck Tucker Carlson is. It is not as if many Aussies followed Tucker's lies about the US 2020 election and the voting machines.

If trump Jr couldn't get an audience, I doubt that Carlson will get much of an audience. Probably just Clive's little United Party members.

imo

Anyone know if this case is still going on? Last hearing date I have in my notes is July 11, 2023. Last update I have on the case was on 10/6/23.

TIA if anyone can help! :)

Fox hasn't learned one thing from paying this huge amount of money for lying---- they continue spewing lie after lie and inflaming their audience ---to become full of hatred towards Biden and the Democrats- I should know- my husband watches Fox every day- and I have listened to how they fill their viewers with lies that serve to inflame viewers

Oh - I guess I am looking for a different case - this one:

- DC - U.S. Dominion, Inc. vs Sidney Powell, Rudolph W. Guiliani, My Pillow, Inc. $1.3 billion defamation lawsuits / Defendants/Counter & third Party plaintiffs vs. Smartmatic USA Corp. Civil Action #1:21-cv-00040 (CJN) / 1:21-cv-00213 U.S District Court for DC. U.S. District Judge Carl J. Nichols

edited to add - I do not think this had separate thread.

Thanks! I like the way it starts out! LOL! :D

The problem with suing crazy people is that they tend to bring their crazy to court with them. And so it is with Dominion Voting Systems’ defamation suit against a whole slew of weirdos, including Sidney Powell, Rudy Giuliani, Mike Lindell, and former Overstock.com CEO Patrick Byrne, who slimed the company after the 2020 election.

Story from April.

The Gateway Pundit, a far-right news site, filed for bankruptcy Wednesday, following litigation by election workers and others who faced harassment after the site made false claims that the 2020 U.S. election was stolen.
...
Defamation lawsuits have driven several right-wing figures into bankruptcy recently.

Giuliani filed for bankruptcy protection in December, days after the $148 million judgment was entered in the Georgia election workers' lawsuits, and conspiracy theorist Alex Jones filed for bankruptcy in 2022 after facing $1.5 billion in defamation judgments stemming from his repeated lies about the 2012 Sandy Hook elementary school massacre.

What a shame.

This is from yesterday.

The Gateway Pundit faces lawsuits by people who allege they received numerous threats after being vilified in false stories. One of the lawsuits was filed by Ruby Freeman and Wandrea "Shaye" Moss, Georgia election workers who recently won a $148 million defamation verdict against former Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani.

Lawyers for Freeman and Moss could not immediately be reached for comment.

Voting machine company Smartmatic has settled its defamation suit against One America News Network out of court, according to a court filing Tuesday.

The details of the settlement were not disclosed in the filing, but OANN parent company Herring Networks and Smartmatic each agreed to pay their own attorney fees and expenses, according to the court filing. In an email, Smartmatic attorney Erik Connolly confirmed the "confidential settlement."
....
Herring Networks also faces a lawsuit from Dominion Voting Systems, a popular voting machine company that made headlines for securing a massive $787.5 million settlement last year from Fox News in a defamation claim.

From last month

Smartmatic alleges that Newsmax has destroyed evidence in the voting machine company's lawsuit against the right-wing news channel over false claims that Smartmatic helped “rig" the 2020 election, according to court documents made public this week.

Lawyers for Florida-based Smartmatic allege that Newsmax engaged in a “cover-up” by destroying texts and emails of key executives that would demonstrate the network’s knowledge that voting fraud claims being pushed by former President Donald Trump and his allies were untrue. Smartmatic says the deletions occurred after Newsmax had received notice to preserve evidence for the pending suit.
...
In a statement, Smartmatic attorney J. Erik Connolly said: “Newsmax’s misconduct goes beyond falsely accusing Smartmatic of rigging the U.S. election; it also attempted to conceal evidence of its actions and failed to follow its own journalistic standards. Smartmatic’s motion details numerous instances of evidence destruction, including incriminating emails and texts from Newsmax executives, indicating intentional spoliation.”

Smartmatic seeks to depose four Fox officials as part of 2020 lawsuit - Wapo

Voting technology company Smartmatic subpoenaed four Fox Corporation board members on Monday as part of its $2.7 billion defamation lawsuit against Fox News over its coverage of the 2020 election.

The move follows a decision earlier this year by a New York judge ordering Fox to turn over relevant documents from the four board members — Anne Dias, Jacques Nasser, Chase Carey and Roland A. Hernandez — as Smartmatic had requested.

The decision represented a victory for Smartmatic, which has argued that the four board members are relevant to the case the company is trying to make: that executives at Fox knew that claims of election fraud made by Donald Trump allies were false but did nothing to stop the network’s coverage, out of a desire to protect the company’s business fortunes.
...
The Murdochs were deposed by attorneys for Smartmatic last fall. Both sides are close to finishing the process of discovery, in which they seek and obtain relevant communications and documents from the other side, a process that is normally contentious and marked by battles over access.
The next step in the case will occur sometime this fall, when both Smartmatic and Fox will submit motions requesting that the judge decide the case in their favor ahead of a trial that is tentatively slated for 2025.

I really hope the settlement includes OANN to publicly broadcast the network intentionally and knowingly reported incorrect information about Smartmatic.
