I thought the same thing, but it was by "mutual agreement" with the State and Defense, to extend the deadline, according to Judge Perry's Order.

I'm thinking the "mutual agreement" went something like this -

HHJP: "Alright, we are going to trial in MAY. This is what I think we can do...."
SA: No objection.

Technically I guess that is by mutual agreement.

On the plus side, I don't feel near as dirty when I read it as when I read one of JB's mudslinging motions.

Sounds to me like Mr. Mason and Mr. Baez are none to happy about having to actually "work."

Also, Mr. Mason should also remember that it may be his time that he feels that he is wasting (not so much fun now is it?), but it is "MY" money and my fellow Floridian's money that is paying for Casey Anthony's defense and I would rather see them forced to take these depositions (no matter how irrelevent they think they are) then not.

I'm tired of all the stall tactics. It's time to get this done. Hopefully Judge Perry is absolutely set on making sure this goes to trial in May 2011.

I totally agree, the defense has had most of these witnesses available to them for over 2 years and chose to wait until their client was declared indigent to do any "real" work.

35 police officers had to miss work and get paid, another 35 other police officers had to fill-in while the other officers were being "deposed". Plus the defense will submit court reporting/transcription invoices for these non-depositions.

It's just insane!

I'm thinking we are going to see more and more of this kind of grandstanding from the Defense team as they posture themselves through the next eight months.

Oh sigh, look how hard we are working - 30 odd depositions in one day - the SA has collected so much evidence and so many documents for us to plow through there just aren't enough hours in a day to get all this work done. We're so brave and working so hard.....geez.

Two years Jose. That's how long you've had to get your face out of a TV camera, or at least stop walking the streets looking for one and get these depositions done. Quickly, thoroughly and relatively privately. But no - grandstanding - anything to get your name in the news. You apparently will do anything to have that happen, including putting the lawyer of your SODDI du jour on your witness list. Y'know how silly that looks, right? Oh yah, you don't care. Picture on 6 o"clock news. That's it - mission accomplished.

Your name is going to be in the news a lot in eight months. The headline is going to be - Baez a Bust - ICA Guilty!

Thanks for the heads up - I think this is probably the 35 LE depositions that were scheduled for one day -- Friday - but they split them up to start on Thursday (today)... MuzikMan will get the document ...

MuzikMan got the document today - THANK YOU MuzikMan!!!

I was wrong -- it was not the LE depositions -- it was the University of Florida Experts
Mason added a person, since the previous Notice of Taking Deposition filed on 8/4/2010.
Mason added Michael Warren (who was mentioned in the Status Hearing on Monday)

Well, if it was a mutual agreement I feel a little better. I just hate to hear one more time that deadlines are getting pushed back, you know? I'd like to push back some deadlines up the defense's you know where...

You'd think they'd really want to hone in, verify the chain-of-custody and look at the people who might have had direct access to evidence and/or the crime scene. Apparently that is not the strategy they are going after. :innocent: Not sure why. Seems to me they'd have a better shot at poking a hole in that and try to create reasonable doubt with some outlandish, confusing, cross-contamination theory. Looks like their ONLY focus is the SODDI approach and opting to slander 25% of the population of Orlando instead.

Such a Casey approach...

ITA. And then they're going to wonder why that didn't work, and other lawyers and such are going to point out what they should have done, and then they're going to whine that the mean state was unfair and they didn't have time to do a proper defense. Just kill me now.

You haven't asked for my opinion HF, but I'm offering it anyway.

I think Baez knows he is out of his depth, his client is unbelievably guilty, he faces a mound of indisputable evidence, and if you'll excuse the term, he's going to get slaughtered at trial.
I think he's like a little kid who has to do something he really really doesn't want to do, so he's dragging his heels, stalling as things (anything!) catches his attention and generally doodling around before he has to face his ultimate humiliation - which will be defending ICA at trial. If his behavior wasn't so annoying, I'd feel sorry for him. Kinda.......:banghead:

LG, I know you'll enjoy this:

In the end, Casey's conviction will be the fault of the internet bloggers who talked too much and too loudly since we could dissect the docs courtesy of the Sunshine Laws.

Good to know we are that powerful.

I am thinking that they are upset, not only that they have to do a ton of "busy" work and depositions that they and everyone else knows will amount to absolutely nothing for them, but by doing so they eliminate some possible appellate issues (ie they didn't get to interview these "very important" LE witnesses) and it greatly reduces the chances of them pulling off a Perry Mason surprise (which although totally not allowed in Florida courts, you just know they are going to try for), over chain of custody or evidence issues.

I thought GRs comments completely off the wall. She is clearly guilty but the dp is uncalled for since it's infanticide?:waitasec: That's the most appropriate reason for the death sentence I can possibly think of!!! He thinks she should get 15-20 years! I don't understand that at all

I believe that Geraldo is Baez's mouthpiece.

I believe that Geraldo is Baez's mouthpiece.
I believe that too. I wonder if Geraldo has taken JB under his wing as his protege.. a fellow Puerto Rican lawyer to groom and pass the torch to? Afterall.. it has come time for Geraldo to reminisce over his 40 year legacy.. is it a sign? Can we look forward to 'Baez at Large' on FOX anytime soon?

Surely Rivera must have figured out by now that handing the mic over to Fred Flinstonesque Baez does not spell success...

RBBM

How about a show called "Baez--EGO at large".

In the clip above referenced by nums (thank you nums!), Baez spokesperson Marti Mackenzie has a classic quote....just "absolutely" classic. She
states: "He <Baez> doesn't let his ego get in the way of what's best for the client.":liar::waitasec::banghead:
Referencing nums post #187....

So MM is confirming that JB has an EGO. That's good to know.

Maybe we should send him some business cards with that classic quote!
