Why would the school hide anything? I'm not able to imagine why they'd have to hide letting him go even if they did. Could you share your thoughts please?

Ived read also an article earlier where the reporters are asking questions to the School spokesperson but they dont want to release a lot and one reporter said why the VA tech school released so much information and they dont..

A frustrated reporter asked why the school couldn't provide the level of detail that Virginia Tech University did about a student who shot and killed 32 people and wounded 17 others in 2007.

"Are there any other questions?" Elliman replied.

more info on school ..see link :

This is a graduate school, PhD , this is not basic college where people come and go. You dont just resign , drop out with one email specially when your tuition fees, school fees are paid off and you get more than $2k for stipend every month .

i dont think that what he did was right but something triggered him that made him so mad. Not an excuse to get mad, but it went out beyond the reach of his brain and heart :(

Warner Bros. to Make 'Substantial' Donation to Colorado Shooting Victims

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/dark-knight-rises-shooting-warner-bros-donation-353175

This makes me happy. It should help with the hospital bills....which I don't think they should be responsive for considering the situation, but realistically they can't all sue Holmes to cover the hospital costs for all of them as far as I know. Nothing will make up for their physical and emotional pain though :(

This may have been mentioned. Has anyone considered the fact that he was studying neuroscience and that many neurological disorders could possibly cause someone to be clinically insane. I wonder just how many of these disorders the monster studied? He doesnt have me fooled.

This is a great thing to do. TMZ is reporting the "First Lawsuit" has come up and one of the targets is WB. I'm not sure how claiming a movie you are going to see yourself is responsible. WB had no part in this, but I am glad they are making this donation.

Maybe we can get a timeline? Please fell free to add more into this. Admin please feel free to remove any info you think shouldnt be here.

May 2012 - When classes ended in May, the students were required to pass a first-year test referred to as the "prelims." The school said students had to stand before three professors and answer questions. Shortly after the tests were done, the classmate said, a neuroscience administrator took the group for drinks to tell them Mr. Holmes had dropped out. The administrator said she received a short resignation email from Mr. Holmes that didn't explain why. Some assumed he had gone back to California.

The beginning of that site also said :In early June, first-year doctoral student James Holmes stood before professors of neuroscience here for an oral exam that marked the beginning of at least four more years of intense study of how the brain works. Days later, though, school administrators received an email from Mr. Holmes saying that he dropped out of the program. He didn't give a reason.

May 2012University of Colorado-Denver officials said faculty in the neuroscience graduate program handled themselves appropriately in interactions with shooting suspect James Holmes. Holmes dropped out of the program a few days after he took his first year oral exam, which he reportedly failed.

June 10 2012 - Holmes sent an email to faculty on June 10 asking to withdraw, and was given a form that requires his advisers' and the dean's signatures. Shur said that Holmes had not filled out the portion of the form that asks for a reason for withdrawal, even though he was encouraged to do so. The form never made it to Shur's desk, so Holmes was not formally withdrawn from the university . Officials also confirmed that no dangerous chemicals were found missing from the labs where Holmes worked, and said he lost access to university buildings on June 10

Maybe he was exposed to something in the Anschutz Research Facility. Anschutz owns a large part of United Artists as well. And a few sports teams. Newspapers - Entertainment Groups.

I usually don't post a big response,as I am more of a lurker, but I went to bed and couldn't go to sleep as I was thinking about the previous posts. I'm not trying to sound snarky or critical, but I find that the armchair diagnosis of mental illness, and the lists of celebrites with mental illnesses, as well as the " speaking for the parents" to be inappropriate. Not to mention the debate over what was quoted by the mother in her response to a media person's question...

I can totally see that JH has issues, but until we hear further, who are we to diagnose his problems? We can speculate, as it is our right on these sites, but to argue (debate) when we do not know, can get over whelming. I understand that personal opinions and experience can relate to the subject, and I am able to learn much from these opinions and experiences, but it is just speculation, and until we know more, I find that pages of arguments are just that. Based on the timeline i posted above, some questions are bugging me.

1. When did their class ended? End of May?
2. Are they supposed to take their oral exam/ prelim before June or before the end of class which is May? Why would JH take oral exam on June 7 when summer semester officially begin on June 4?
3. Who is this administrator who took the students for a drink?

Personally, I haven't seen anyone minimize the crime. We are trying to make sense of a terrible act that we can't relate to. We want to understand, not excuse.

Well said and for the record, I'm one of those that wants to understand. I pointed out in an earlier post that perhaps it's because I'm a mom of two sons almost the same age as the suspect and this crime has shocked me. As with so many other cases some draw me more than others for various reasons. This one has because I want to understand how a seemingly brilliant good student, raised in a good neighbourhood, seemingly well adjusted family could suddenly snap and victimize not only the real victims but an entire community, a nation and quite frankly, the world.

My heart is and always will be with the 12 victims and the ones still fighting for their lives and their families. That will never change regardless of my continued search for the "why".

Good to see you too. :)

IIRC, he did take an exam (now I don't know if it was a final or not) before he withdrew. There was speculation that he didn't fair well in that exam and that is the reason he withdrew from the program. His professor would not comment as far as I know.

If I have time today, I'll locate the links to back up my statements. For now, please take them as unconfirmed.

Hello N/T

i have multiple links couple post above with the timeline on this.
as an old time sleuther, i found some of the info conflict with one another or i am getting old haha :) Nice to hear from you..

Another question I have is the "why" he told LE about the bombs in his apartment right there and then at the crime scene. Did he come down from his fantasy world after the carnage in that movie theatre?

For those in the know, IF he did take some hallucinogens, how long are the effects of the drugs? 30 minutes, one hour, two hours? He apparently surrendered without incident or struggle with LE.

It was reported that he had taken vicodin. Would this type of drug cause the rage we saw in this case?

My last question is do they do blood works when someone is incarcerated?

ETA: I guess that was more than one question. lol

Not sure if this helps.

His reasons for quitting the program in June, just a year into the five- to seven-year program, also remained a mystery. Holmes recently took an intense, three-part oral exam that marks the end of the first year. Those who do well continue with their studies and shift to full-time research, while those who don't do well meet with advisers and discuss their options, including retaking the exam.

University officials would not say if he passed, citing privacy concerns.

n~t as far as hallucinogens it would depend on exactly what was taken and how much. Say LSD, one dose can last 16 to more than 24 hours depending on person. If doing a very large amount (more than 5 doses) it can last a few days. Liquid LSD is a different beast, don't know about that. If doing it for days on days repeatedly, you can have some major disconnect with reality and that can last for weeks to months, depending on how long you were dosing. This is based on people encountered through restaurant work and their stories, not clinical data/fact.

Others may have other known stories.

I know nothing of vicodin.

I'm sure that toxicology was ordered, yes blood taken.

Why did he tell LE about the bombs? Your guess is as good as mine. Perhaps he wanted to know if it had already blown, and more damage done. Perhaps he thought it would help his case, likewise giving self up with no hassles. Who knows?! I honestly "think", my opinion only, he wanted to be known for this, and the more damage done, the bigger the name.

They said he failed that exam

AURORA, Colo.--University of Colorado-Denver officials said faculty in the neuroscience graduate program handled themselves appropriately in interactions with shooting suspect James Holmes. Holmes dropped out of the program a few days after he took his first-year oral exam, which he reportedly failed

Shur said that students who fail oral exams are offered help to retake it. "The exam is not to throw students out," he said, adding that it's "very unusual" for a student to drop out of one of CU's graduate programs. Schur said Holmes had excellent academic credentials, and was among a handful of students chosen for a National Institutes of Health training grant in neuroscience.
