Holmes had stuffed approximately 30 plastic shells used in aerial fireworks with gunpowder, turning them into grenades, filled glass jars with gasoline and gunpowder, and had 10 gallons of gasoline on hand, some of it in bottles, said a law enforcement source close to the investigation.

The gas would have fed flames, dramatically increasing the damage from any explosion.

Just a thought. Maybe his plan starting out was to bomb his building but he spent so much time surrounded by gas fumes...they fried his brain.

I knew a guy in HS that huffed gas. It was not a pretty site. I remember he would walk around with a milk jug full of gas huffing on it.

One thing that I wonder. The person that works up in the movie booth? Was there somebody up there?

I don't think anyone was in the projection booth when this happened, the police asked that the movie be shut off a few minutes after they arrived. If the projectionist had been in the booth he probably would have shut it off without being asked to.

I wish they would update the seating chart to show exactly where everybody was sitting and the way the shooter moved....and wish they would post a detailed description of the doors.

From the link posted...it looks like the shooter worked everybody into a funnel. It seems as if he walk up and down, which in turn blocked all the main exits.

I wish somebody in the media would make a accurate seating cart...then when they interview witnesses....get them to put their name on the seat they were in. I'm sure the police are doing it but it may be awhile before we see it.

I think now days there is a lot of automation! And from what I understand they were unspooling it in 5 houses. So the projectionist might have been making sure the next showing was starting, since 9 had been up and playing IMO he was at another projection unit! Just a hunch...

I read he was shooting the people that ran, one report said something about him telling the people to run (of course I am sure some of the folks that were sitting were also sprayed in the process, but he was aiming at those that ran).

To me that is interesting, just like the explosives that were rigged to go off IF someone opened the door. There is an element of chance/free will on the part of the victims that decides their fate. Reminds me a bit of Anton Chigurh flipping a coin (in the movie No Country for Old Men).

Definately off topic: But when I first heard the name Holmes, all I could think of was the serial killer named Holmes from the Chicago Worlds Fair in the 1800's. I could be wrong though about the name.

You're absolutely correct HH Holmes who quite possibly is the most horrific serial killer in American history. While still in development, Leonardo DiCaprio is set to play HH Holmes in an upcoming film based on the Eric Larson novel "The Devil in the White City".

It is really interesting to hear the developments of various survivors accounts; almost all of the initial survivor interviews contained a shared dialogue that the monster was silent throughout the entire course of events. While these variants could be due to the survivor's proximity to the monster, the different accounts are interesting. I truly hate this monster on so many levels; he has achieved the goal of terrorists which is to destroy one's sense of safety and security in things such as cinema which is traditionally a most enjoyable, fun activity.

Absolutely. It will be covered in the same manner as non-televised trials and Court proceedings. I guess the most recent comparison would be the coverage of the Sandusky trial.
