Did Darlie Routier Murder Her Precious Sons ?

Why would an intruder go right by the multiple pieces of gold jewelry laying right on the kitchen counter, go get a knife from the kitchen knife block, go back and slash the screen, and then go murder 2 small sleeping children who were neither awake nor able to identify said intruder or stop said intruder? For what purpose was this intrusion?

- They (he/she) didn't steal anything
- They (he/she) didn't use their own knife, but instead used the serrated knife from the kitchen knife block to slash the screen. How did they get in the house if they needed to get in the house to get the kitchen knife? And why would they need to slash a window screen if they were already inside the house?
- They (he/she) brutally stabbed 2 small sleeping boys
- They (he/she) didn't leave any footprints of themselves, although the scene was bloody.
- They (he/she) left behind the murder weapon
- They (he/she) left the one adult witness who could identify them alive, and she said she was chasing them, so they (he/she) knew Darlie was still alive.

Just a few of the questions that make you wonder who was this levitating intruder who came without their own knife and needed to use the homeowner's knives and seemed to hate small children.

It's entirely possible that a deranged killer could have come into the house. There are many cases where this has happened in exactly this manner.

Blood spatter is questionable to me. However, when a crime scene doesn't match the story the witness gave then it's problematic. I could even cut Darlie some slack at not going over to her son. After all she had her throat slashed. And she doesn't seem like she's a very loving mother. But not being a loving mother doesn't make her a murderer.

What cinched it for me is the blood washed down the sink and cleaned up. It doesn't match her story and it shows signs of covering something up. The "intruder" didn't go over to the sink and wash up before he left. It had to be Darlie.

For me, the blood of both boys on the back of her tee shirt is the clincher. Cast off drops as she stabbed them. How else could those drops get there?

Something that bothered me or I just don't remembered reading about it-
If anyone knows the answer to it please tell me:please:

Didn't Darlee say she followed the intruder to the alley way? How did she exit the home? Since she was sliced up did she leave her blood pattern to her travel route to the alley way? or was her blood only at the kitchen sink and in the living room area?

Her blood was contained to the house. She did not say she followed an intruder outside. Only into the kitchen.

I think I just found a compelling point I've never seen mentioned before.

During the 911 call, there is no mention of, or sound from, Darin until 43 seconds into the call, after which a male voice is first heard. Darlie told the 911 dispatcher that "my husband...just ran downstairs," but she never asks him or mentions during the call her 8-month-old baby, who Darlie and Darin later told us was sleeping upstairs with Darin at the time of this offense.

According to Darlier, she was woken from sleeping after the attack on the boys. She calls 911 without checking to see if her husband and baby were OK. Now, if you think about it, she had no way of knowing how long the "killer" had been in the house. For all she knew, she and boys were the last of the attacks.

Yet she never runs upstairs to check on the rest of her family. This indicates to me that she knew that had not been attacked. How?

Because she's the one who murdered the boys, she knew that her baby and her husband were uninjured. We do not hear her ask her husband if he is ok or if the baby is ok on the 911.

That's pretty daming IMO

And that's not all the call reveals. After Darin runs downstairs he asks Darlie what happened. She angrily and defensively explains. He continues to ask panicked questions and she says "I saw them Darin.....Darin I don't know WHO it was." The 911 tape is in real time. If Darin had been involved, he wouldn't have been asking those questions.

Has anyone listened to the interview with Basia? She worked with Darin and I believe her mother was Darlie's housekeeper. The interview is an hour long and she tells it all regarding Darlie's lifestyle, what went on in the home, how Darlie treated her kids, and what she believes happened the night of the murders.

A few things that stood out to me during the interview mentioned by Basia:

- Darlie Kee was physically abusive to Dana and Darlie
- Basia admits doing cocaine with Darlie, says Darlie not only did cocaine and smoked weed, but she drank heavily as she grew more depressed
- Basia's mother says she saw Darlie sharpening knives in an angry manner the day of the murders. Her mother said she believed that Darlie was going to harm herself and that there may be a huge argument that night
- Basia also says that the boys did not want to stay at home the day of the murders
- Basia believes in her heart that Darlie killed her kids

The interview is an hour long, but it is definitely worth listening to. Keep in mind Basia's accent is very strong so you have to listen carefully. I wish there was a transcript or captions but hey!!

She seems like she's just trying to cash in on an opprotunity for some fame. Therefore nothing said there can be reported as credible info.

Good try though.

Actually, no. Not without leaving evidence behind, there are not many cases.

There are plenty of cases where someone *says* an intruder did the deed, though.

That's your opinion. I posted the video for anyone interested, if you're not then that's fine. Carry on. I dont believe she has a reason to lie and what fame could she receive from doing a phone interview on YT? Is she writing books? Is she having interviews with CNN, ABC, or any other major media outlet? If she was all about cashing in on fame, I am pretty sure she would not have waited this long to say anything and she would be all over the place shouting from the mountain tops what she knew about Darlie and what she think happened the night of the murders.

Anyway, *pats myself on the back

Thanks for acknowledging my efforts. :)

/end sarcasm

Thanks for posting the video. It's always interesting to see what's out there. We're all here to express our opinions and debate the evidence, because that is what makes the forum interesting. So please don't take that personally. We do appreciate your posting.

Basia is obviously emotionally fragile and IMO this video just exploited her, probably without knowledge that she was even being taped. Her rambling discourse is contradictory in several places. Over the years, she has taken a lot of poetic license with the facts, much like a fisherman talking about a big catch that continues to get bigger. She has been hospitalized for mental issues on several occasions and has been in prison herself. This video just took advantage of her.

I went back and read Basia's and her mother's testimonies from the trial transcripts. Basia's story hasn't really changed that much, and she was just as rambling in her testimony 20 years ago, although in a more controlled environment. To wit: Darlie was spiraling down in the days before the murders. She was stressed, overwhelmed, emotional, suicidal, depressed, worried about money (because she and Darin spent way beyond their means). She and Darin were constantly arguing. There was serious talk of her going to stay with Darin's mother in Lubbock so that Darin's mother could help with the children. In the two days right before the murders, Basia's mother came in to do laundry and clean house. A neighbor girl was there all day, every day, to help with the children. Darlie was obviously in a very bad way if she needed all that help - and the dam was just waiting to burst. All that is in the transcripts; it is not new info, as this video implies. The transcripts are available online and they can be selected by witness names.

In retrospect, it makes some sense now that Darin and Darlie's mother were so quick to believe her, cover for her, lie for her, stand by her. Darin knew she did it when he came downstairs. Maybe they felt guilty for not helping more. For not recognizing Darlie's unsound state of mind, for not getting psychological or postpartum help for her.

She was Darlie's best friend, stood for her at her wedding. She was the children's nanny at times and she also worked for Darin, she was an eye witness. You can blow her off but I'm sure the jury didn't when she testified to fights at the shop between the two of them. I believe her, what does she gain by lying?

Hi everyone this is my first post. I've been looking on websleuths for awhile at the different cases. This one is consuming me! I believe Darlie is guilty. For me it was the blood evidence and reading the trial transcripts. As I was reading old posts, I saw a lot of you said to read the transcripts to really get all the facts. That was so helpful to me. I can see why if people don't read the transcripts and just read what Darlie supporter's put out that she could be seen as innocent. I know she has family support and I get it, no one wants to believe such a horrible thing especially a loved one. However, has anyone in Darlie's camp ever tried to look for the "real killer?" It all seems to be all about Darlie but if they truly believe her innocent, why is no one screaming for justice for those beautiful boys?

No one from her family is looking for the killer because deep down inside they all know that she is guilty and is the real killer.

This case is kind of what drew me to Websleuths. When I first learned about the case years ago I thought she was guilty. Then I watched some show that made me doubt it. Now that I've been researching it again, I think she's guilty. I have a hard time believing that Darin wasn't involved in some way (planting the sock maybe?). I intend to hunker down soon and start reading the transcripts.

I feel the exactly the same Absyntha.
Where would one get these transcripts?

I glancing over this thread, I'm surprised no one has brought up the fact that the court reporter screwed up the transcripts of this case so bad she lost her license.

I read all the court transcripts and they're very insightful. Guilty for sure.
