Thanks for this post, samspace. Isn't it amazing the lengths this obviously guilty defendant was able to go to?

Nurmi argued -- up to the AZ Supreme Court, that JA's rights supersede all other considerations due to the fact that she was facing the DP.

In the meantime, in this case, the victim's rights were completely trampled upon.

I understand that innocent people get convicted and sentenced every day, and I find that a devastating fact for the accused and their families. Hopefully, our justice system can evolve to the point where that doesn't keep happening.

But that's not the case here. JA is clearly guilty and the aggravating factor(s) should ensure that she goes to prison for life. There is no bad DNA testing, no mistaken identity, no erroneous eye-witness testimony. Nothing in this case should have benefited JA to the extent that it has.

To answer your specific question about the polygraph, it is my understanding that she did take a polygraph REGARDING THE PEDOPHILE LETTER, which she passed. They used that as a reason to get the letter in, but given that the letter was clearly a forgery, it just adds more credence to the fact that JA is a world-class liar. Not a good liar, just a prolific one. She just can't stop herself from lying.

I don't know if there was another polygraph, but there could have been. I wouldn't be surprised. She is beyond the pale when it comes to making things up.

If she would have STFU and asked for a lawyer right from the start, there's a good chance she could have been convicted of 2nd degree or manslaughter -- or even acquitted of any and all charges!

So her many legal machinations and the accusations she leveled at a man she already killed 3-times over have been outrageous. I think everyone should be glad that her psychological makeup prevents her from: 1. telling the truth, and 2. shutting her mouth.

Were she even a wee bit smarter than she thinks she is, she could have been back on the streets by now, plying her charms on some other unsuspecting person.

Sociopaths and Psychopaths can pass a lie detector test. Didn't Ted Bundy pass one? That is one reason they are not admitted in court.

Maybe JM threw words at MM like... "Aiding and Abetting"..."conspiracy to commit a crime"? Words like those would make me blink a few times.

I think that is exactly what happened. I think JM had evidence that MM was at Darryl's on June 4th and he said he could prove matt forged the letters. I remember in the hearing on Day 10 of first trial, Nurmi told Chris Hughes, that a handwriting expert said it was probable that the letter were authentic. Chris still said he didn't believe TA wrote those letters, he said dates and calendar were wrong. Proved JA made them up later. KN kept trying to get CH to say JM told him the letters were forgeries. Why would it matter if JM did, Nurmi lied to Sky Hughes about the letters.

I don't think anyone but JA was involved in the killing or the premeditation but I do think MM and others may have been involved in some areas of the coverup after. I am convinced that if anyone else had been involved in the killing, one defense tactic would have been to blame them for the murder. Even without evidence, they would have strongly suggested it to the jury. They are allowed to do that--point the finger without proof. That they didn't try this tells me no one else was present during the crime.

I don't believe anyone else was present with her but I do believe Matt knew she was planning on killing him. I think it is possible that Darryl knew something was not on the up and up either because of the two gas cans. You don't need 10 extra gallons of gas when service stations are not that far apart on the main highways. 10 gals in that ford focus on highway travel she could go 300 miles. Gas stations are not that far apart. One can would have been more than sufficient for an emergency. So he had to know something. Also why didn't he speak up about that DVD player she gave him. No I think both of them knew more than what either of them said. Especially Matt McCartney.

And I do believe he ran out on testifying for her.

If software like that fontmaker was used - it would be a wonderful gift to the prosecution because it's so easy to see that each character/letter would be exactly the same. We all have slight variations of letters within a single piece of handwriting. My [a] looks slightly different in different words depending on the surrounding characters.

I mean, in our handwriting/printing each letter isn't a carbon copy of itself. It would look like a typewriter wrote it, but each character of course would be in TA's own style.

Too bad MM chickened out.

QUESTION: How could it ever be prosecutorial misconduct (as the DT alleged?) to tell a potential witness that because they're under oath, a lie is perjury and there are ramifications to breaking the law? I honestly do not see how that is misconduct.

I agree with the member here who said they would have loved to hear that conversation between JM and MM! :happydance: He was champing at the bit to get MM on the stand and I loved seeing him that way Oh, yeah...just a little crush on Juan Martinez. :blushing:

We all know how well JA can trace things, and she had TA's journals so she could have authored the letters then found the words and letters to match and trace them, when she made a mistake just cross it out like he did in the journals. Then copy it and give them to Matt for save keeping. Piece of cake for someone with her dedication to EVIL.

We're retired and I am so sick of paying almost $200 a month watching crap. If I could just figure out the logistics of antennas and Hulu, Netflix and Amazon, we can cut the cord. Have any of you done it?

I'm almost there. I finally got an antenna but I need two more for my other 2 TVs and then I am cutting the cord. I am also trying Hulu Plus free for a month first two.

BBM: Iirc, Alan Kreitl was also a document examiner for the state; I believe he examined some of the samples of writings from JA's diaries.

Do you know what he said about the letters, lewcch3? He testified at the hearing on August 8, 2010 @3:12pm and States exhibits 1 and 2 are received into evidence and that evil CMJA got to question him. The State rested at 3:48pm so he wasn't on the stand very long.

On Aug 9,2010 @ 11:43am Heather Nittarauer a defense witness, but the State introduced exhibit 9 and 10 and they were received into evidence. over at 12:41pm Then Heather Nitterauer was taken back to DOC

Aug 10, 2010 was when Vic Washington told the court she was having issues with witness Matt McCartney.

Aug 15, 2010 is when Rosemarie testifies at 11:22am and JA questions her, then asked the court to reinstate KN and VW as her attorneys again.

Right after that the Defense KN and VW withdraw their objections to the States motion to preclude the letters, so the Court Orders granting the States motion to preclude the letters. So why did they withdraw their objection if their expert just testified that the letters were probably written by TA? I think KN lied to the Hughes and the public in that hearing, but on second thought I think I remember KN saying WHAT IF I told we had an expert that said the letters were probable written by TA. Semantics again???? I want to know what those experts said. It had to be about the electronic copies and that fact that MM didn't show up to testify.

I believe that Jodi threatened her. My mom used to say if someone is accusing you of something maybe it's because they are doing that very thing. Just like all the supposed death threats. It is the defense team and supporters that are actually doing the threatening.
The best thing ever to me was when Juan was being interviewed and everyone expected him to say how hard the trial was and blah blah blah and instead he said it's just another trial. And I am SURE that dug into Jodi hahahaha

YEP! I remember that! Juan Martinez made it very clear the murderer is not special. She was just another trial.

Not sure MM knew her plans in advance but I bet he knew she did it right after she did it. Before the murder was even known, I think he might have known. I have no proof of this as there is no real evidence of it that was ever made public. Still, I believe there was something quite compelling along these lines uncovered that pointed toward MM. MM ran with his tail between his legs when JM said he would not hesitate to take action if MM lied under oath. If there was no evidence of anything tying MM in to at least the cover up, why would he run scared? The only reason I can think of is he knew JM had enough that if he did lie he would end up in a world of hurt.

Considering the performances of defense attorneys, the mitigation specialist, the judge, the defense witnesses (including that misfit from NZ, and later on, his mommy) and the stealth juror, I must conclude that fortune smiled on Travis Alexander's loved ones the day Juan Martinez was assigned this case.

What a thought provoking post – semantics, indeed! I hadn't considered before that since Nurmi prefaced his words to the Hughes with WHAT IF, he was positing it as a hypothetical, but now I see and you're exactly right! Nurmi most definitely chose his words carefully before making that phone call.

I would love if you could provide some more information on what happened in court 8/8 through 8/15 2010. It's fascinating stuff! I would love to see all the missing pieces to the puzzle as they relate to Matt M, Heather Nitterauer and Victoria Washington. Can you direct me to some sources involving this information?
