Anyone think Angela Simpson, a fellow murderer at Perryville, is at risk from Arias?

Probation...ridiculous. There should be a much tougher penalty for something like this as a deterrent. Sex offender status? There has to be something that would make this behavior less appealing. I'll bet it goes on all the time. Only a small fraction are ever caught.

It Does goes on very frequently. The vast majority and i mean over 90% of women inmates are There for non violent mostly drug related crimes. It makes me sick when i hear about ANYBODY manipulating their position of power. This is also the exact reason i do not want jodi in gen pop to manipulate women in there who truly have history of abuse and emotional disorders. Jodi is a poison to everyv person she is involved with. I worry about her hurting other women inmates who are weak and easy prey. People are in lumley for everything from financial emezzlement, shoplifting, 19 year old prostitutes. You can see how jodi could influence people like this. I've written a few papers on prison reform and this is a big problem in DOC

You just wouldn't know I guess. If one has the right weapon and element of surprise. We know Jodi is handy with a knife so maybe she'd be just as dangerous with a shank. Or she could become sisters with her.

I think Angela Simpson is going to scare the heck out of Jodi. She is loudly proud of her viciousness; she sounds savage. Jodi likes sweet talk and manipulation; Jodi is afraid of a lot of things.

I really think the DP played better into their long term strategy than LWOP and they were planning on following that strategy. They could have played the victim card to the hilt, and parroted Nurmi's closing about 'killing this girl' repeatedly to all the world. Jodi tweeting about how bad, bad, bad the 'death jurors' are sounds slightly out of place given the result of the trial. I'm sure they will continue playing the Jodi is a victim card, she's just not as much of a victim as they were planning on.

I know what you mean. I find it funny that she's trying to get out the "poor me/victim who people want to kill" tweets that she had planned for a possible DP verdict against the jury. She has to be royally pissed off with how this all went down. She got out of the DP, with all the benefits of being a victim, but she's still seen as a vicious murderer deserving of the DP. She got absolutely no vindication from this. She got more last time. So her tweets are falling on deaf ears and making her sound like the deranged murderer she is instead of the perpetual victim of everyone who has ever come in contact with her that she tried so hard to make everyone believe she was.

It's like she's calling out to the anti death penalty crowd to rally around her even though she never got the DP. What a joke. And another classic example of her manipulation and how she tries to draw people to her to use them.

I'm not in the legal field, but I did look up what Maricopa County requires to become a mitigation specialist.

2.1.1.1.2

To qualify for a mitigation specialist contract with Maricopa County, contractor shall fully meet the qualifications of Rule 15.9 of the Arizona Rules of Criminal Procedure. Rule 15.9 defines a mitigation specialist as:
- a person qualified by knowledge, skill, experience, or other training as a mental health or sociology professional, to investigate, evaluate and present psycho-social and other mitigation evidence.

Indicia of qualifications under Rule 15.9 are as follows:

2.1.1.1.2.1

Applicant shall possess either:
2.1.1.1.2.1.1 Fifteen (15) years of experience working as a mitigation specialist or fifteen (15) years of experience in mental health services; social services; or juvenile and/or adult probation services;

2.1.1.1.2.1.2 Bachelor’s degree (or higher degree) in social work or social services, nursing, psychology, education, counseling, criminal justice, or related field(s); and five (5) years experience as a mitigation specialist.

JSS had tunnel vision. She could not see what was happening to the left or the right of her. Lets suppose she removed juror #17 and a death sentence was handed down. She would be afraid it would get turned on appeal. Thats her problem. She took her fears to the extreme. She had every right to remove #17. I wonder what she thinks in hindsight now? Shame.

Everyone needs to look at the legal questions thread. AZLawyer posted the guidelines for when a judge can remove a juror and when you read it, you will see it is virtually impossible to do so. I know there aren't many of us here who are JSS fans, I get that. But I do believe she did everything WITHIN THE LAW to assure a fair trial. There are many things that were admitted that were vile accusations against Travis. The defense team used disgusting tactics. But JSS did her job. Unless evidence can be found that the Juror 17 deliberately set out to throw this trial, there is nothing that can be done. Unfortunately, hind sight is 20/20 as they say, and apparently jurors need to be asked in voir dire if anyone they are close to has any ties to either side. Too late now.

I really hope that the AZ legal system investigates this, to include search warrants for deleted facebook accounts, etc. If it is impossible to access deleted info, it may be too late. Karma is sticky business. Those who participated in this travesty will pay. We may not see it, but I hope when it bites them that karma has the grip of a pit bull.

Is this the case with the womens prison? I've heard that women prisoners divide into families but are they determined by race or is it something else. Just wondering how Jodi will fit herself into this.

Exactly.. You'd Especially think when dealing with jodis camp theyd know that when you delete things It doesn't delete It forever. Have They learned nothing from the camera

Is this the case with the womens prison? I've heard that women prisoners divide into families but are they determined by race or is it something else. Yes. Remarkably It's mostly the same with race in women's prison. They do create bizarre family units "gay for the stay" but almost always divided into ethnicities.

Yes, JA's mother made a post the evening before the verdict to the effect - I'm asking everyone to pray tonight like they've never prayed before. It only takes one juror to prevent the death penalty. We got this!

I try to separate the family from the felon, but this just makes my blood boil. My little 3 nd 5-yr old great-nephews are spending the night tonight, and when we said our prayers, the 5-yr old said, "Wait! You forgot to bless you." It seems small, but they try their hardest to rememeber to bless everyone. Maybe if that mother would have prayed with her little ones and punished them when they lied... BUT IF YOU DON'T DO THAT, don't pray just when you want favor. God isn't played.

Exactly. It was her last hope and her best bet, and now it's gone. All she's left with is a long, long baneful existence in a dungeonous environment among a population of equals she would never have deemed worthy enough to be spat on by her intellectually superior and highly evolved self.

She's going to bring them all together in a kumbaya book club and teach everyone Spanish remember? So there will be no race or ethnic divide. They will all be one big happy bilingual group. Plus she'll help them to understand the importance of recycling, teach them to trace pictures and how to use two hands instead of one to get through the lonely nights. She's going to affect change and everyone will be so grateful that she came to their prison to spread sunshine and rainbows.

I think JA will eventually team up with Marrissa DeVault and whatever "crew" she's put together from jail acquaintances who went there before her. I think JA has already been working that angle. No idea if Angela Simpson would be part of that or would be a rival.

Yeah, I agree. CMJA is a passive-aggressive coward and she's going to need protection in the slammer. Hopefully some Big Bertha knuckle-dragger will decide to target her so they can earn points and start their own crew. (Thinking of Wentworth series on netflix!)
