From everything I have read from court documents, Jodi has had 3 mitigation specialist.
1. Gwen Fehnel
2. Teresa Price
3. MDLR ~ cha cha

Do they change with each Defense Council? Or was the other two just too

I guess she had to keep letting them go until she found one she could manipulate.

Do we even know that it was possible for JM to strike J17? I do not recall seeing anything that JM tried to get J17 eliminated or that he voted to keep her.

Yes, he could have, there was only that bench conference after she was questioned by him and prior to being questioned further where he sort of raised concerns, but didn't actually attempt to use his strikes at that time.

I still don't understand why Juan can get in trouble for this. Can someone please explain this to me? I don't think Juan leaked the J17's name. I think it's the JA supporters, since they got the rest of the list. JA was in the room also when questioning J17.

I don't see how Juan could get in trouble unless of course Bill Montgomery rips him a new one for not striking her or similar .. but not actual trouble .. no I can't see that ..

Logically, there is only 1 valid reason why @michaelbkiefer didn't report the 11 juror names listed on #jodiarias ii site - he leaked them.

You guys think Kiefer leaked the jurors names to the JAII site now? OK .. now I get it that a lot of people don't like him, but this one is really taking it over the edge ..

Judicial assistant? Bailiff?? ...who else is he buddy-buddy with? Or, maybe MK was in someone's office and took a picture of the list with his cell phone w/o anyone knowing..

He doesn't sound like a very intelligent man. Anyone who can not see the facts of this case.. either choose not too by turning away from them with eyes wide shut.. OR ... are just not intelligent enough to see the truth.

M. Kiefer teaches a journalism class of some kind. Or he did. I'm only guessing that he still does but even the idea that he ever did is appalling.

I have always fantasized of MK having a student with a backbone who calls him out on his many articles that emanate the strong stench of bias.

I just read all of the comments on the page with his article... People are going crazy... They are outraged at him and what's been going on with this trial..

OK I really have to ask, how bad do people really think MK is? I think he's just anti DP, but other than that he's a good journalist, maybe his crusty nature has rubbed people up the wrong way, but I think it's gone a bit beyond rational!

I just read all of the comments on the page with his article... People are going crazy... They are outraged at him and what's been going on with this trial..

Reading it now, sickened by the comments .. I really have never seen anything quite like this case before, this is worse than the CA trial for online insanity .. it really makes me wonder, a lot of the frenzy has been whipped up by the admins of that very page IMO. I just don't know what to say, except that people should really start thinking with their heads and look at the law instead of just baying for blood every two seconds, this can't be healthy, am I the only one who wonders about the wellbeing of some of those people who are so full of rage?

Someone needs to tell them it's OK, Jodi got arrested very soon after this crime, she has been in jail ever since, she was convicted of murder 1, and she will likely get sentenced to LWOP .. 11 out of 12 jurors wanted her to get the DP, one did not, but that's the law, and does not mean the woman needs crucifying. The system is working .. everything is OK.

Also don't we want a variety of opinions in our papers, I don't think we want all our journalists to think the same way .. so MK leans towards anti DP, plenty lean the other way, so it's all a balance .. sigh!

The thing is, he won't care. His idea of proof of a good journalist is the ability to get people riled.

In fact, it is getting them thinking and/or discussing that shows a good journalist. Not riling or inciting riots, verbal or the other kind.

The sad part is I don't think he's stupid. I think he knows the score, but gets a kick out of causing trouble. I think he does his thing then sits back and watches the fallout and chuckles.

Really creepy individual, IMO.

The same person who told him who the foreperson was in the first trial WHILE THEY WERE STILL DELIBERATING. He was so cocky and certain that hung jury was coming in that day (which he also erroneously reported, then redacted--so easy for him to on an online article) that I think he lost control. by the way, they didn't hang until the following day--the day AFTER he reported (in an online article we all saw) the correct identity of that foreperson..the one who hung THAT jury.

I keep asking this HOW DID MICHAEl KIEFER KNOW THE IDENTITY OF WHO THE FOREPERSON WAS DURING JURY DELIBERATIONS IN THE FIRST TRIAL?

I say the same leak leaked again.

maybe you'd feel differently if you'd heard him with your own ears call Travis Alexander a "scum bag" and "douche bag" and make the very same arguments the defense team was, the preposterous ones claiming she DID return that one gas can and it was reasonable she'd travel with them to AZ for her stated reasons. Everything she did was justified and everything Travis was was villified. To my own ears. That doesn't even account for the rabid ways he ripped on the Alexander family,, to my face. Juan, all bets were off. He despises him with a spitting passion and when I say spitting I mean he was spewing so hard on it he was spitting in my face.

Again how would he know the ID of the first foreperson during deliberations. Why would anyone be privy to the goings on in those private deliberations at that stage? Why? How? and why was it ok for him to report it before they hung? And clearly he was called out on it because he redacted it. But not before screen shots were taken. I have an hour long twitter private DM chat with him where he was going ballistic on Juan, Travis, etc. Finally he turned that venom on me one day and I was over it. Trust me he is NOT a well respected journalist among peers in the PHX area many of whom I socialize with.

He is a vehement anti DP reporter who should not report on DP cases because he's lost his ability to be factual. He was fabricating outright lies in his reporting. How do I know? I was right there. Witnessing it myself-I would swear on a Bible in court every single thing I've ever said publicly about him (and there is more, trust me but I'm not ratting out any other respected journalists who vented to me the exact same things about him). Remember I was in court there almost every day of the trial and talked to him ALOT.

It baffles my mind too... all I can think of is that whenever a sociopath is involved in anything there is always chaos and confusion... and since this case has one at the very center, everything is extra cray-cray!

...every freaking crazy person has come out of the wood work for this one!! They've come out in droves!! (And since the media loves "cray-cray" they especially love this case!!)

This is the only logical reason that I can come up with...

My last words on Kiefer are that I was extremely conflicted about his very poor reporting and biased unprofessionalism for the first few mths I attended the trial even though everyone close to the Alexanders was upset seeing me speaking to him--they had his number early on. even though he was speaking so ill of Travis, the Alexanders, glorifying Jodi, hating on Juan every chance he got to me. He would demean my opinions, scoff at things like "why is Alyce LaViolette approaching Samantha in the courtroom when she got off the stand which is against the Victims Bill of Rights" while claiming she was "stalked" because a stranger happened to notice her in a Peiwei speaking openly and loudly about the case and snapped her pic and tweeted it with no derogatory comment. I let ALL of this slide because I had a long standing relationship with him. But he went too far when he turned it on me and made abusive remarks mocking me to my face. It all came crashing down and my own integrity had to stand up and say I cannot tolerate victim bashing from anyone, including someone I've known for many years (which is true, we were good friends). I had to take a stand. And that's when I started noticing all kinds of strange and underhanded backdoor dealings with him involved. I will never trust him as a journalist ever again, on any case, for any reason. He was blatant with his bias and didn't care who knew it.

I will just say what I have said many times: the very worst, most abusive treatment my family ever received in over two decades of dealing with murder trials and death penalty appeals in the State of AZ was from Death Penalty opponents, after the men who killed my sister were sentenced.

They think that taking it out on families, and the victim, is the way to some kind of redemption. Oh and while championing the murderers. It's sick.

I've seen reporters on the other side of this who are just as vehement in their own opinions, I also thought his article about Juror 17 made a lot of sense .. I get that you don't like him, and that's perfectly fine, but MK is no idiot IMO, and I think some of the reaction to him goes a bit far (not you) xoxo
