Do you like the new format for WS?

I'm on an iPhone today, and have video ads auto playing. It's going to use up my mobile data very quickly if it keeps up. I'm not touching the ads. ETA They are "ads by sekindo"

Bottom left of the page, see use mobile. You won't have any issues period. Everything loads quicker, even on my old blackberry.

Right now three ads on Children's Health running.
All in the big squares.
They keep looping and running again without touching them.
The screen is also jumping to the bottom.
It's hard to type this because the screen keeps jumping to the bottom.
Just started this today.
I'm on a HP desk top computer.

What browser? Put plus extension in . You won't see them.

I tried your suggestion and put on ext. It must have worked because I have not had any problems since then.

I'm still seeing a streaming video of a sailboat. There is no ad with it, it just continues to play over and over, whether I hover over it or not. Sometimes they are on both sides of the page.

If I click on it, it pauses, click again and it starts playing. What's the point of the video??

What has become of Tags for This Thread? After the changeover all was well; then suddenly I couldn't add to 'em; now they appear to be gone, period. A friend has noted a similar problem but with her 'edit' feature and wonders where it's gotten off to. I sense frustration-levels are on the rise.

I thought it was just me not being able to find tag button. I have opened new threads some days prior to changeover (on laptop) and already then I could not find it anywhere on the page, even though I have tagged previously mine and other existing threads. If it is not a mistake, maybe tag use got restricted for some reason?

Definitely need to watch the 's (mis-) usage, currently running rampant with miscues on the scroll and on the Trending. (Yes, I taught Grammar.) Best foot forward, etc. etc.

Now that the ad space seems sold and loaded, I must admit I am having some issues.

Slow loading, auto audio on the embedded video ads and still the huge space of ads and banners at the top of each and every page that you have to scroll past just to ensure that you've reached a new page. I understand the commerce behind these changes and I'd probably accept them without a comment, if only it wasn't mentioned every so often that the mods here are volunteers and unpaid. I think the mods to a fantastic job at keeping this place civil, readable and victim-friendly. I kinda dislike all the revenue raising with ads knowing that a large part of what makes WS so successful is the dedicated presence of the mods... I would happily tolerate the ads if I knew that they were contributing to some kind of renumeration for the mods

GRRRRRRRRRR the video ads are getting worse instead of better. They now come on automatically at the bottom of the page in two small screens and the audio is LOUD. If I try to click out of them, I get dropped to the bottom of the page and I can't scroll back up. Shockwave keeps crashing, I constantly have to reload pages. It took me six tries just to post this message. This has all gotten so user-unfriendly I'm about to make the painful decision to drop WS entirely.

Oh dear! I feel your pain, but please don't go La Louve! :anguish: Have you tried any of the mentioned upthread? I haven't yet, but it's on my list. I'm on an iPad and I don't get the audio for some reason, even though it shows a speaker icon. I'm afraid I'm no help, but maybe a direct message to Tricia would be worth trying.

I feel your pain! Missy Bevers is no longer hyphenated. Whew! Now if missing "person's" is corrected we can relax...maybe.

I like the look of the new format. It has been amazing and I am usually not one to complain anyway. Even if I am not someone who really enjoys change. Unfortunately, it's causing some issues tonight. I'm having the same issues as LaLouve. Shockwave keeps crashing. I checked to make sure that I didn't have two files and added an as suggested. I will let you know if that helps. I didn't mind the ads and they didn't hinder me from being able to do anything until tonight. Then it started messing with scrolling or even replying in the threads.

Will update after I restart and see if the helped!



ETA: So far....so good! The ads that were causing me grief have disappeared. Thank you everyone for the suggestions that fixed the issues I was having. Fingers crossed that it keeps working!!

Thank you. I 've been complaining and having this Shockwave problem for over a week now. Just on this site, and I beleive it has to do with these "video" ads.

Anyway to filter the ads and select non-video ads? I can't imagine how much data this is draining to us users.

Dave is working on the shockwave issue as we speak.

This is a long standing problem with Google Chrome dating back to 2011.

However, sometime today I'll be posting a fix that others have used and it seemed to work for them.

Sorry for these issues. We are doing our best to fix what we can on our end.
