Any wrestling supply store or some specialty sports stores. One sec, I'll look around. They dry your skin out so my sons only use them during wrestling season. Most of the wrestling venues we attend stopped using Clorox soap water mixture to mop down mats and started using an anti fungal cleanser that works better. I have no idea if it would even be a factor in a case like this but thought I'd bring it up just in case. The anti fungal cleanser has bleach in it, but also has other stuff as well I think. One thing I do know is that it kills more viruses than bleach & soapy water.

ETA - This is just one example, but there's foam for mats and floors, sprays, etc. Clorox is great, of course, just sometimes something else may be needed for skin as a precautionary measure. Here's the link:

Thank you so much Jersey Girl! Much appreciated! I don't have a fungal skin infection myself, but my sister and her husband do and it is unbelievable how fast it spread and how "yuck" it is! I hate to be this way...but gosh...every time I am around them I wonder if I am going to get it! I'm really not a germaphobe...but I might be becoming one!

If any of the monitored test positive from this point forward, I hope they are sent ASAP to one of the four centers identified as being capable of treating these patients.

Listening to this CDC official. My gosh we are in trouble! I am NOT confident that they even have this slightly under control.

I think it's because they're getting too many infected nurses and don't want those numbers to keep increasing

They read my post and decided it was a good idea.

No, I think you are likely correct. It's pretty obvious that PHD is not up to the task. Also, you have to wonder if nurses are stating that they will not work that unit.

Ebola Advice From Atlanta and Nebraska Doctors Fails to Ease Fears

A phone conference Tuesday for Emory University and University of Nebraska officials to share what they had learned had little relevance for some smaller hospitals

It’s plain to see why patients with Ebola in countries like Liberia have been evacuated to these two hospitals. But for hospitals without these kinds of resources — that is, the vast majority of them—the lessons bear little relevance. “I really appreciate this helpful information, but practically speaking, I think what you just described would probably bankrupt our hospital,” said a health care professional from Southern California during the call.

BBM

BBM. This is a very important point. Nebraska said yesterday that they could only accommodate up to three patients because of the intense amount of staff resources required to care for even one patient.

I think it is becoming painfully obvious that the Dallas hospital was not equipped to handle Duncan.
The second nurse should be sent to Emory because Omaha already has the NBC cameraman.

Question: The CDC is tracking everyone down that shared a Frontier flight with Ms Vinson since she developed a fever the day after arriving back in Dallas from Cleveland. It's said she was one of the nurses that treated Duncan. Well, when did she fly from Dallas to Cleveland, or didn't she? Did she think she was safe and protected while treating Duncan, therefore she wasn't under any kind of quarantine? We've been led to believe the people caring for Duncan, as well as those he's come in contact with, have been quarantined.

Also, why did the CDC request the passenger list for Frontier but they didn't for the airline/s Duncan flew with? Even though he was asymptomatic while flying, he died from Ebola, therefore the infectious disease was inside of him. He flew here from Brussels. He got to Brussels from Liberia, which is like 7,000 mi distance in and of itself before even flying over the Atlantic to Dallas. That means at some point the man obviously peed and/or excreted waste in a public toilet. So, I think it's a very important question why the other international passenger list hasn't been followed up on considering Ebola would have been found in his urine and excrement.

Duncan had a 5 hour layover in Brussels.

RE: Anti-fungals

Please be aware that a fungus is neither a bacteria nor a virus! Medications aimed at killing fungi do NOT necessarily kill either bacteria or fungi!

Sometimes a doctor will prescribe both an anti-fungal and a bactericide for an infection, due to the possibility of a bacterial infection developing as a secondary infection to the original fungal infection.

Read about the ebola VIRUS. Do not think an anti-fungal will kill it.

----------------------------------------------

As a retired healthcare worker, I am absolutely shocked at how very, very badly the CDC has screwed this up. They were onsite at that Dallas hospital from the very beginning of Duncan's second hospitalization. Did they not examine what PPE was being used?

The CDC are coming off as a bunch of friggin idiots! I sure hope Obama is going to appoint SOMEONE to be in charge nationally of this situation. ALL of the people who have been near to ANY of the ebola patients need to be immediately quarantined.

What is coming out today is that the Dallas nurses were NEVER properly trained in using the PPE they did have.

That's not what I was saying. I said as a precautionary measure I wondered if they'd work better. Antifungal wipes cover a much broader spectrum than just antibacterial wipes. I was talking about for the skin. Obviously a wipe is not a medicine and shouldn't be treated as such. I very much know that Ebola isn't a fungus OMG.

So is the CDC going to send a team to Cleveland to trace anybody there that she might have been in contact with? Where does this stop?

This has been on our local news non-stop -- they've interrupted regular programming, and it's on constantly, non-stop. They are really downplaying it. Said that the local authorities first became aware of this at 6:30 this morning, when they were contacted by the airline. They also said one of the victims would be transferred to Emory, and they think it is this new one.

Or maybe they have other ebola patients who want to stay closer to home for tx?
