And here we go...the road is covered, just saw a couple people slide. Wanna yell out the window - SLOW DOWN. Celt - best of luck

Snow has started here in the Lehigh valley, and we are now expecting 18-24 inches of snow! Ughhhhhhhhh Be safe everyone!!

DD works in a supermarket and reports "Mom, people are NUTS".

This is starting to work a nerve a tad.

Guess we might as well get used to it.

Just woke up to 6 more inches on top of the 24 inches we already have. Fortunately, we crazy southerners cleared more area than all the Yankees. :D We have room to shovel ours--they do not. I guess that means I have to go help them out when it quits.

****CAUTION *****Bad Snow News*******CAUTION*********

The 7 day forcast has snow on Monday  My weather man said it shouldnt be a bad one .....but.... then he laughed and said "but I've been wrong in the past":banghead:

Stay safe everyone and dont go out if you dont have to.

Celt- thanks for the update, I'll be praying for you all.

Good Morning from snowy NYC! It is great it is snowing but it is not so great my most sincere wish of work being cancelled was not full-filled. Crazy! Schools are closed. Above ground transit is crazy (fortunately I take the subway). We are supposed to get a foot of snow today and it is coming down pretty good right now so surely they will let us leave early. I thought about taking a personal day but decided not to and when I got here and checked the voicemails about 3/4 of the office called out. Maybe those of us who are here will get some sort of special bonus......hahahahahahahahaha. Yeah. Right. At least I can get away with wearing jeans and a hoodie today.

Hope all of you who have gotten really bad the last week stay safe! Websleuths is a great place to hang out when it is all snowy outside. It makes me feel all nice and cozy.

Pittsburgh got a couple more inches. Thanks to the local media frenzy, the town is sort of half-shut down. I swear, Godzilla fighting Gamera at the Point would not get as much coverage. How much footage of stranded folks at the airport does one need? Same goes for self-aggrandizing interviews with public works supervisors. Man, thank the Lord for the weather web pages and PS3. I can now just bypass the local news. OK, off of the soapbox now. Thanks for letting me get that out of me system.

DC under Blizzard Warning since this morning, wind gusts up to 45 mph so far. Visibility down to nothing, and all this is moving NE. Power outage a main concern, with the weight of the 26 inches (we had prior), trees are weakened. I think we have about 6-8 inches additional so far, but it's hard to tell. Tried to take my dog out and we made it a few feet, both he and I decided it could wait.

I'm in Hampton Roads VA. We weren't supposed to get much more than a dusting with no accumulation. Well, the ground in covered, so's the streets and the wind is kicking up. Gust supposed to be up to 50 mph.

I HATE SNOW!

I can't see across the street here (right outside of Baltimore). We've gotten 6-8 inches so far...but it's really hard to say since it's blowing so much.

I'm gonna have to let my oldest DS read this thread. He was just complaining yesterday about how FL doesn't have any snow. He's jealous of his cousins who live in Leesburg.

I grew up in VA (Fairfax County) and went to college at VCU. Snow is great...but, only to VISIT!!:)

Hope everyone stays safe and warm!!! :blowkiss:

It has just really begun to snow here in these parts of N.E. I think it has started later than predicted, but that point is moot when it comes to Mother Nature. :) Hunkered in, mobile phone is charged, and some firewood in garage if needed. Snow doesn't concern me, it's the high winds that do. Be safe, stay warm, and have a family CD movie day. Preferably, with some warm popcorn. My plan for moi! :D

I think even people that like snow that live in the DC area are getting sick of it. Too much of a good thing. I love to see it fall, it's beautiful, but then I want it gone.

My son just sent me a picture from Sterling VA and his car is covered (looks like over a foot of snow) once again. He had just shoveled it out this weekend. He's gonna be so ready to visit Mama in the spring.

The cabin fever is getting bad, but hopefully it will soon be over. I love snow and think it's so beautiful, but yes there is a limit. I hope your son is doing ok in Sterling.

By the way, my daughter had a "dream" last night that it rained and all of the snow was magically gone.

I've been watching snow devils whirling around all over our backyard...

NYC under blizzard conditions. It's heavy at times with the wind it seems like it's coming down horizontally...white out conditions at times..glad I went shopping yesterday...the stores must be CRAAAZY!

All major roads in PA have been closed. And more are closing hourly! Stay off tehe roads unless you have to drive. Hubby took today off of work, because he could not get in safetly! Stay safe everyone!!

I'm so glad that everyone seems to be doing OK (safe and warm) with the winter weather! I can't even IMAGINE what a "blizzard" would be like... or even PICTURE what a foot of snow looks like... I think we got the Arkansas version of a blizzard over the past few days, though. I was thinkin' about ya'll when we got 5-6 inches down here (lemme tell ya, I thought the world was gonna end) and said a few prayers for everybody!

I think we got another foot, so far, on top of the other feet of snow already in the yard. Below is a pic of my daughter digging us out, about 3 days ago... now there is more snow on top of it. (visual perspective: she is 6ft + and all legs, and even that saw the snow up past her tush)
