When I am in my car I can get a SF am radio station, KCBS. Late this afternoon they were talking about the federal court 'meeting' as they referred to it. The newscaster said that he was told off the record by his sources that the main topic has been the stalemate over the request for feeding tube and breathing tube. He said that neither side is wavering and are at odds with no resolution in sight. I don't see how this can be easily resolved.

eta: i just saw the recent tweet by Dolan, saying there are no more obstacles...Hmmmm...makes no sense.

Sure there is a resolution- they are free to remove her with the vent, according to Judge Grillo. Their main objective for the majority of the time was to "to get her outta there'

ETA: The order states tubing, leads and anything else attached- not the vent itself.

Yes, well, he also says "executed" instead of pulling the plug or removal of artificial support.

EXTRACTION? what a strange term for the family attorney to use. Her extraction?

Very peculiar term. It has a specific medical meaning, but that does not seem appropriate in this setting. I don't know if it has a legal meaning.

It's odd and very impersonal.

the extraction word make me think of when the Seals go in and "extract" a prisoner of war. i think its on purpose.

Uh, why would the mother GO TO Vital Records to get the death certificate? Huh?

This is a stunt concocted by Dolan.

Shame on him for putting this extremely distressed woman up to that.

And when did she have time to go? She's been in the mandated mediation all day hasn't she? There is also the little tidbit that the coroners office said quite plainly the death cert would not be finished and signed until AFTER autopsy. IIRC

Extraction makes me think of a tooth being yanked out, leaving a painful, raw, gaping wound that bleeds for days.

Is that the kind of imagery he wants?

As of now the acct (originally set up for transfer) is up to $46,462. Wonder what they are planning on doing with that money?

Pay for Jahis care at CHO?
Buy their very own shiny new vent and bed and take her home?
Fly in Dr. Bryne to provide the "needed" treatments once she's home?
Donate the money to Brendan House in NY in hopes of them finishing construction quicker?

Personally, my suggestion would be to build a public garden or park in Jahis memory, throw her the most amazing celebration of life ceremony they can dream up, order cookies for the nurses who have had to deal with this traumatic circus and spend the rest on some MUCH needed grief counciling. Or, you know, refund it to those who donated.

IMO

Nope nope don't believe it for a second nope nope. When did she go to Vital Records? Death certificate was issued today, and she and her attorney have had media following them all day.

I can't "Moooooo" enough here.

I totally believe someone at vital records said that. jmo

Just my very opinionated opinion on suing for $$$. 1. There is no amount of money I could be paid to ease my suffering if one of my children died. To even accept it, to me, would be like saying there was. 2. Suing someone for money (or a company/business) to hurt or punish them for the death of my child is equally offensive. Not only is it again putting a monetary value on my child's life, but altering the imprint they made on this world. When people thought of them it should be of the memories people had of knowing them, not of the war mom/dad waged in their name.

I am respectfully disagreeing with you. Your opinion is very valid as you speak for you. We sued in federal court for wrongful death in 1985. The man we sued knew my brother was going to be robbed and that the "person" who murdered my brother had a gun. We won 1.2 million. The attorney was paid 1/3. My parents established scholarships in my brother's name at Duke University, The Hill School and for the Chester County detectives' children.

My parents did not need nor want the money. It was extremely painful. However, since 1985, young people have benefitted from the money used to establish the scholarships. I hope my brother would be pleased. JMV

It's very ugly, isn't it?

This woman's lovely bubbly daughter suffered a terrible consequence of her surgery, right in front of her, and she has been overwhelmed with guilt and her own innate inability to accept that the still warm body of her child is, indeed dead.

Then her attorney is putting her front and center in the media frenzy, giving her these absurd things to say. And she has to play the game because there is a big bucket of money there for her, her attorney says.

It's very very ugly that she is allowing the attorney to turn the memory of this lovely child into a frenzied grab for cash from an institution she once had faith in and who has tried very diligently to support her.

Sorry, but if all they want is to get her out of there, why is she still there?! This is maddening. At least they could be transparent about what it is they want here. They want to compel doctors to do procedures on her, even though she's deceased, so they either want doctors to make the dangerous decision to do medical procedures on someone declared dead or they want to change the definition of dead in accordance with their religious beliefs. JMO, IMO, all that.

:banghead:

It's possible, considering that it is still pending autopsy, right? Not sure on if it's been officially filed or not. And with Jahi's mother asking for the certificate for the child she insists is alive... well, who knows.

The office is only ten blocks from the Federal Courthouse, from what I saw online - for those of us wondering if there was time to go there today.

Documents filed in court this morning clearly state they have no arrangements made, which they blamed on being emotionally devastated and also the holidays. They state they are unable to locate an alternate arrangements. There is no mention of bringing Jahi home, only placement to an alternate care facility. ( paraphrasing)

Thank you. I have been to many vital records offices and I didn't think it was possible for a certificate to be available and on file there so soon.

Where I live (not California) you can't get the death certificate as next of kin. It is only available through the funeral home or the facility that handled the cremation.

Kind of O/T but I want to say thank you to everyone. I'm on modified bed rest right now (hoping baby stays put for 28 more days!) and you have made this time so much more tolerable as well as entertaining and educating! :)

Considering that at least one or more, if not most, of the vital records office workers are inclined toward the pov expressed in the twitter support army. jmo

I would spend it on counseling for her and her OTHER children. They are going to need a lot of support.

And not one penny goes to Uncle Omari. Not one freakin' penny.
