New Madeleine Photograph Released

The picture was taken 20 days before she vanished and shows her sitting on the back of a Shetland pony with her mother Kate by her side.

That's a cute picture. I hope they can crop and blow up the image of her face. I've heard most of the pictures released to the media were rather old.

'NO EVIDENCE' MADDIE DIED IN APARTMENT

Scientists at Portugal’s top forensic laboratory have spent months analysing DNA evidence collected from the scene of the child’s disappearance.

But they have been unable to identify anything that indicates the three-year-old died on the night she went missing in May.

Yesterday’s news about the DNA tests came from a source at the country’s main pathology
laboratory in Lisbon. He told the Portuguese daily newspaper 24 Hours: “Nothing allows us to say the little girl died in that apartment as no sample was gathered which can point in that direction.”

Tests have also failed to produce any solid evidence linking Kate and Gerry to her disappearance.

Portuguese detectives investigating the case of the missing four-year-old have admitted that they are reassessing the original witness statements to look for inaccuracies in their translation.


Goncalo Amaral, 47, who was sacked at the beginning of October, following a swathe of criticism that the police investigation had been flawed from the start.

Are they finally going to come clean in their part in this mess? Somehow I doubt it.

Personally, I think LE should start completely over. Start from the minute Maddie was announced missing by Kate and go forward from there. Then again, I don't know if that would do any good....DNA has been either been destroyed or degraded. What a mess. Poor Maddie.

The Portuguese LE are like a broken record. They keep reassessing statements and going back over evidence, followed by firing the officer in charge. They can continue doing this until doomsday, but I don't think it's going to bring them any closer to finding Madeleine.

For six months David James Smith has examined the evidence surrounding the disappearance of Madeleine McCann for The Sunday Times Magazine.

It seems important to make it clear right away that I do not suspect the McCanns harmed Madeleine, nor do I think they disposed of their daughter’s body if, as the PJ believe, she died in an accident that night in their apartment.

This is not a mere prejudice on my part. I have spent a long time considering and examining every unpleasant scenario.
The McCanns are not my friends and I have no axe to grind with Portugal, its police or its media.
To me, the McCanns are genuine people in the grip of despair – the accusations against them are ludicrous and a cruel distraction from the search for their daughter.

i read the article tonight in the times - it put into print exactly what I had been thinking -and this is from a serious journalist on a serious paper who had been on the ground talking to people for the past 6 months . i know that he will be rubbished by most of the posters here - as it doesnt fit in woth the Mcaans did it theory - but it does answer a few points especialy timelines -

you see that is just plain unfair to say that - they have put themselves bang in the media day one kept on going - they helped raise a million pounds and despite massive criticsm , even down right abuse from press , forums like this , they have kept coming back for more to try and keep the awareness alive - it would have been easier to have just done nothing collapsed under a wall of self pity .

Unless you mean you havent seen them trudging around the hills of morroco themselves - I would have thought hiring a top PI agency to do that is probably the best bet .

I know you think they killed her - fair enough , but to say that they havent lifted a finger is just not true

You see I just dont see it like that - the dishonest part - well lets wait and see what occurrs -

Sure in hindsight there is probably lots of things that they wished they probably said or did - but 6 months on - they have been charged of nothing - we are still talking about Madeline - her name is still on the front pages on a daily basis -

A top PI agency who last week announced to the world that they "knew who kidnapped Maddie and where she is being held and they are closing in and expecting to return Maddie home for Christmas" except they needed to gather evidence before making an arrest. Evidence?? Sadly, their announcement would probably result in any kidnappers heading for the hills or disposing of any "evidence".

And don't forget that this top PI agency has already announced that they were closing in a few weeks ago, in Morroco. After that Philamena McCann told us that this top PI agency thought Maddie “may have been snatched by a millionaire paedophile” from Saudi Arabia.”
