I keep reading that Abraham could not read. According to the paper, he made it to the eighth grade and he could read, just not read as well as someone who had continued school. I agree that with the complexity of legal documents, it would be surprising if he really understood many of the documents he was signing. I have a college degree and I have some difficulty understanding some of what I'm reading. There are two mortgages that give an end date due for the amount owed, I believe it was 2037, but I see nowhere in them where it states a monthly amount due or date of month due. Is that normal? I also was at issue when I saw that the notaries were acting as witness on many of the documents. After checking Florida law, I found this is a common practice in real estate. As long as the witnesses signatures do not have to be notarized and all he is notarizing is the person the document pertains to, in this state, a notary can also be a witness. However, I did see on one of the documents, the date on the front of the document where Abraham signs is months before the date the person notarizes the document. In this state, the site said that the person must be present before the notary when the document is signed. Surprisingly, it says, that is not true in all states. Go figure.
Those signatures do not look like they were all signed by the same person to me. However, I'm no handwriting expert. Some look fancy. Some looked like they were printed by a kid. Just an opinion and not an expert opinion.
DM, I know you're still out there lurking. Would be the perfect day to clear your conscience. Where is Abraham?
