No foul play involved? So she just jumped from the bridge? There must be more to this story.

Injuries consistent with foul play are usually obviously (despite what you may see on TV, it's incredibly difficult to pick up a hundred+ pound resisting individual and just toss them over a railing - unless you're the Incredible Hunk). Vehicular pedestrian accident would be more likely, but the ME would likely find evidence of that. The severity of injury depends on vehicle speed, the angle of impact of the vehicle/pedestrian (and the person's center of gravity) the part of the body that first comes into contact with the vehicle, (and conversely, the part of the vehicle the pedestrian impacts first), as well as the vehicle design. Most injuries arising from such impact accidents (in adults) are trauma to the head, legs and pelvis, tibial plateau fractures and ligamentous injuries of the knee, and head injuries (TBI). That would be evident to the ME or coroner assisting with the recovery of the remains and the death investigation. They don't usually say "no foul play" without ME input, at least not in my experience. No matter what happened, she is gone, dearly missed, and deeply loved. I hope she is at peace now.

One last thought is I think a lot of us were struggling with why LE wouldn’t say they had footage of her either jumping off the bridge, or acknowledge the lack of evidence she made it to the other side. I assumed it was to save the family heartache until her body was recovered, but now I am thinking that it was to prevent any copycats. That is not a bridge I would think to end my life on. Everyone here knows how many suicides happen on big bridges like the Skyway Bridge in St Pete, FL, before they put up the barricades. I hope no one else now sees this bridge as a way out.

I’m assuming this is where the initial “no shoes” came from. She went missing & was found earlier that day. She ran off without shoes during that time.

Valdes — who was training for a marathon and often went on long runs — had also mentioned “that she was hearing demon voices in her head,” the report said.

Valdes’ mom became concerned when she left the house with no shoes on after her mom suggested she share her location with the family since she had darted off and been found at a local electrical plant earlier that day.

Memorial run held for 21-year-old woman found dead in Caloosahatchee River​

Runners from Lee County paid tribute 21-year-old Arielle Valdes, who lost her life after being the focus of an extensive search.
Hundreds of people filled Centennial Park in downtown Fort Myers for the memorial run.

Organizers of the event said they chose a run because that is something Valdes loved to do.

Isabella Hergerd is the sister of Valdes. She is thankful for the outpouring of support.

“I feel an overwhelming amount of love right now from the community, and I just want to say thank you to everyone that is here and organized this,” said Hergerd.

Of the hundreds who were at the run, most did not know Valdes personally. What they did know was that they wanted to run to honor her life.

Joshua Dorsey is the head of Running Friends of SWFL, and he said he wanted to show support.

“A lot of us didn’t personally know Arielle, but we’re just a running family, and we all come together to support one another, and this is the least we can do,” said Dorsey.

There is no confirmation on the cause of death for Valdes. According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, loved ones said she seemed to be having a mental breakdown just before going missing.

Nancy Dauphinais is the Chief Operating Officer at David Lawrence Centers. She said it’s important to communicate kindly if you think someone is having mental health troubles.

“It’s important to learn those non-judgmental, compassionate questions to ask. It’s important to let people know that you’re concerned about them and they’re not alone,” said Dauphinais.

No shoes is concerning to me because there is quite a few times I have left my home running without shoes and that was to escape a domestic assault. I pray this isn't the case for her.
