Certainly a very different look in the latest mugshot. In the first one, he looked like a high school boy ---the second one he looks a bit more intense. JMHO.

Kat, this image contains more "looks" of Roberts. The link below also has big-size still pictures of him entering Walmart (from surveillance camera). Also picture of the TENT he purchased.

A map released by the St. John's County Sheriff's Office shows the route they believe Roberts to have taken on his way to the Idaho-Oregon area. The map shows Roberts stopped in Pocatello, then went to Ontario, Oregon -- then back to Pocatello.

Missing persons case featured on America's Most Wanted Web site

Wish we had him on video speaking and could see his mannerisms. I'm sure there must be something "off" about him. He still looks like a young model. Looks can be so deceiving and that's probably one of the problems with this case. JMHO.

Can't judge a book by it's cover thats for sure!

Thank you very much for the pics and map Hazel! :)

No problem Kat, and yes he is good looking, never would have guessed he could be capable of something like this. Still hoping there is some other (innocent) explanation :( and that he didn't hurt Tavar.

I have seen Roberts described as having "brown hair" but in the pictures it looks to me that he has blonde highlights

perhaps his natural hair color is brown?

Of course, he can change the color now that he is wanted, or even cut it shorter or shave it.

Surely someone has seen him! Is it possible that he slipped across the border? Were Canadian border services notified? This guy simply can't get away with this!

That's what I would expect; however, from today's news, this other US Wanted man, that fled to Canada's capital city (Ottawa) in January, had been walking around freely, using his real name!

Former QB hiding in plain sight
Man on run from Texas police talked football at pizzeria
If he was in hiding, they said, it sure didn’t seem like it.
He used his real name, talked freely about his career in the CFL, even parked his pickup truck with the distinctive Oklahoma plates in the outdoor lot behind the building.

According to a report published nearly a month ago in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Texas police had received a Crime Stoppers tip that Ledbetter was in Ottawa and they were actively seeking him after he failed to report to his probation officer in January.

At Lorenzo’s, patrons said Ledbetter had been a regular customer since making his first appearance there about six months ago. He would show off his Grey Cup ring, which he won in 1999 as a member of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, playing the role of backup quarterback.

He would chat up patrons about his favourite topic and his beloved Texas Longhorns. According to patrons, he worked various freelance construction jobs to pay the bills.

He would come in for dinner about once a week with a woman and an 11-month-old girl in tow, who patrons assumed was his wife and daughter.

I think this is the first case in which I've commented on the appearance of a POI.

But, really he's fairly non-descript. Even featured, you could even say he is a nice looking young man.

The reason I am saying that is I'm not sure I would even glance twice at him if I walked past him or saw him in a store here. KWIM?

I wish they would release different poses of him. Like smiling, wonder if his teeth would have any significant feature that would draw peoples attention to him? Missing, deeply stained...very crooked...etc.

FWIW, he's could pass as a frat boy IMHO.

Prayers for Brittany. I hope she is found soon.

Kat, did you watch this video surveillance of Joseph Roberts while going through the cash at Walmart? To be honest, I had missed it :)
Besides the tan cargo shorts, black t-shirt and tent, seems to me he also got a DVD? There is another package that I assume is the axe he purchased.

I just don't understand how they can figure out if he is in a store or not. WalMart takes 24 hours of footage over thousands of stores. Now that he knows he's been spotted in WalMart, maybe he will go to a Target. Or some store that is a smaller chain without surveillance like Alco. Let's face it, this kid is clean cut, and a lot of women fall for that. Case in point: Ted Bundy. He needs to be off of the streets, and we need to find Brittany.

Still no sightings of Joe, but....

Indianapolis Police Look For Roberts
http://www.news4jax.com/news/24540557/detail.html

Investigators said Roberts has not been seen in Indianapolis, but said his aunt's home there was burglarized earlier this week. Roberts may be a suspect, police said.

The home's side door was forced open, but no valuables were taken, and only some drawers in an upstairs bedroom appeared to be disturbed, Indianapolis police said. The homeowner told police only her nephew, Roberts, would would know where to break in and then go straight to her bedroom in search of something.

Police said Roberts has Indiana roots, including an Indiana driver's license with an Indianapolis address, where his aunt used to live.

Police looking for smooth-talking man with Northwest connections in hopes he can lead them to missing Florida woman
Published: Tuesday, August 10, 2010, 5:44 PM
Updated: Tuesday, August 10, 2010, 5:56 PM

When he left Jacksonville, Fla., early last month, police said smooth-talking Joseph Dean Roberts drove a dark blue Toyota Rav4 with two dogs inside. He bought gas and food with a credit card and left behind an electronic trail that went cold at a Northeast Oregon Wal-Mart.

The car, the dogs and the credit card belonged to 45-year-old Brittany Jeniveve Tavar, a St. Augustine, Fla., fitness buff and licensed Realtor who was last seen on the night of July 6 by friends, Florida authorities said. Around 9 p.m. that night a surveillance camera also showed her buying gas for that same Rav4.

Then she disappeared.

Detectives Go To Oregon In Missing Woman Case

UPDATED: 5:14 pm EDT August 12, 2010
ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla

<snippets>
Investigators said they are working closely with local and federal authorities in Ontario, Ore., and will remain there as long as necessary to familiarize themselves with the area by talking to people around town who may have seen Joseph Roberts.

"This amount of time gives us great concern for what her condition may be," said Chuck Mulligan, of the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.

Mulligan said the detectives' presence in Oregon is working, saying three tips had already been called in Thursday morning.

BOISE, Idaho -

"He's not your stereotypical homeless person living in the woods. This guy is good at living on the fringes of society. Yes he may stay in a tent and live in the woods for a period of time to get by, but he's very good at meeting people in coffee shops and bookstores," says Harrigan.

Police say they worry Roberts is a drifter and may be looking for his next place to stay.

"Our biggest fear is that he's living in someone's home and he's laying low and they don't realize who they've got living in their home," says Harrigan.
