This is a really strange case.
I just finished reading all the posts on BT and a few people have referred to her as 'vulnerable'. I just do not see anything vulnerable about this woman.
Search on for Ponte Vedra woman
Tavar was charged with battery in her home after deputies said she fought there in January 2009 with dinner party guest and neighbor Ann Lydon. Lydon claimed Tavar hit her over the head with a wine bottle and cut her with a butter knife. Tavar confessed to choking Lydon, who had lacerations and swelling on the back of her head.
Responding Deputy Mark Wilson described Tavars demeanor as angry and irrational.
I observed an extremely cluttered residence with furniture in disarray and objects seemingly thrown about the residence, he wrote in the report. A man named William Cuthbertson was renting a room month-to-month from Tavar at the time but decided to move out after the brawl, Wilson wrote.
Tavar was eventually charged with battery.

She doesn't seem stable to me. Apparently there were also a lawsuit in the family courts of which the reporter in the above article could not find the info for.
Why did she lie to her boyfriend about who Roberts was? She called him her 'nephew'? She had had other 'roommates' and no one has said she referred to them as anything but.
It was also stated that she would have never missed her court date... She had already admitted to choking the woman so I doubt she would have been found innocent.
The membership dues are not cheap and she has no known employment.
The initiation fees are anywhere from $3000 to $5000 and the annual dues are around $1235.

The article about the blood being found was written on Sept. 21. I am going to assume that the crime scene people looked at the house, and detected the blood, just prior to the article. If that is so why wasn't the house investigated as a crime scene back in July? Going back and determining foul play, even though the article just says the blood belongs to a female, 2 1/2 months later is sad.
What did the LE think happened to her prior to this past week?
What I think is that BT had every intention of taking off and going somewhere before this court date. I think JR was going with her and when they got to SC something happened. He might have said something that she found offensive. I doubt she caught him in a lie because he was a transient for godsakes. She knew there was something wrong for him not to have anywhere to live or a job. What was he going to lie about? The only arrest records anyone has been able to locate are for petty theft.
I think two people with serious issues had the most unfortunate luck of running into eachother and like in other cases it ended in murder.
I do not want anyone to get the feeling that I am victim bashing. I am just curious on how this 45 year old woman, who has a house and a club membership, gets involved with a 26 year old transient?
All BBM and my comments are in blue.
JMOO!
I don't know if Colleton county SC is located in the route/path to SC where Brittany's dogs were found but thought I would post this link just in case.

The remains have been there for several months according to LE so don't know if it could be Brittany since she disappeared in July. Would July - October be considered 'several months'? also there is no indication if the remains are male or female....so just an FYI.
Hopefully someone's family will have closure as to what happened to their loved one.

those remains were female, but not Brittany'sbbm
Yup, it sure is. The body was found quite close to Walterboro (looks like around 7-8 miles away and not too far off Hwy 95). Joe filled up Brittany's car with gas in Walterboro on July 8 @ 2:20 p.m. He was alone.
The dogs were found 2 days later wandering around about 50 - 60 miles further, toward Columbia.
The Colleton County coroner used dental records to identify the body as Andrea Susan Vaughn Stone.
The Dorchester County sheriff's office has been looking for Stone since May, because she's believed to have taken thousands of dollars from a fake account that she set up to steal from her former employer, Money Title Loans on Dorchester road.
Seattle Police have arrested a man believed to be involved in the disappearance of a First Coast woman.
Officers have arrested Joseph Roberts, 26, on retail theft charges, after they said he tried to steal about $14 worth of meat from a store.
While talking to investigators, police said Roberts initially gave a fake name, before finally admitting his real name and telling them that he is from Florida. But detectives said that Roberts denied having any outstanding warrants.
Seattle law enforcement officers are searching the area for Tavar’s vehicle.
St. Johns County Sheriff’s Robbery Homicide Detectives will be responding to Seattle to question Roberts about Tavar’s disappearance.
Historic City News will report additional details when they become available.
http://www.firstcoastnews.com/news/local/news-article.aspx?storyid=171429&catid=3Tavar's sister, Patricia Bellamah, told First Coast News this arrest brings the family some relief.
While the case started in St. Johns County, Roberts was located on the other side of the country, not far from where Tavar's sister lives.
Bellamah said that added to the odd nature of this case.
Bellamah said some of the first questions she had were,"Where was he found? What store?"
She learned he was arrested in a store where she used to shop in Seattle. It's also close to where her friends still live.
That site also had some brief comments from interviews with people who know Roberts and his family.“My dad just really wants to have a funeral,” Bellamah said. “... At a bare minimum, if we can get an answer, we can get closure.”
http://www.news4jax.com/news/25380449/detail.htmlSgt. Chuck Mulligan, a Sheriff's Office spokesman, said it's up to the courts to decide when Roberts will be extradited to Florida.
"Those are all unanswered questions. We just can't venture there yet," Mulligan said. "But we do have two detectives who are going to fly to Washington today and we hope to have an interview in progress late tonight or possibly tomorrow morning."
