I got an email alert from the FBI- The case is now featured on their missing children pages.

Anybody here that is from Florida familiar with this missing baby?

This case was featured on AMW tonight (12/9/06) - so at least now it's getting some national attention. What a precious baby - here's to him coming home VERY SOON! I cannot imagine what that poor family is going through.

OMG! The baby apparently was taken as "payment" by the people who smuggled the parents into the U.S.! News story here.

AP article said:
FORT MYERS, Fla. - A missing month-old boy kidnapped at knifepoint was taken as payment because his parents failed to pay human smugglers, police said Saturday.
Bryan Dos Santos Gomes' parents were brought into the United States illegally from Brazil, but failed to pay the smugglers' entire fee, Fort Myers Police Chief Hilton Daniels said.

Check the news update I posted in this topic, BIG BIG news!!! I don't know if I am allowed to post a link to the story in this topic as well, or not, so I won't for now.

I know!!! I couldn't believe the headline when I got up this morning. To me, this makes it very unlikely the parents will ever see their baby again. He has probably already been sold into the baby black market. These people do not mess around.

OMG:eek: How awful. I just hope this baby isn't harmed. I knew there had to be more to this story than meets the eye!! Prayers this little one is found soon.

The baby's mother is here illegally from Brazil, and officials believe the kidnapper is linked to a smuggling gang who has not been paid for getting the mother and her family here.

Well hopefully they wont hurt the baby. What I cant understand is why they got in the suv in the first place. Its a shame but you just cant trust strangers these days male or female.

The initial details of this story were so unbelievable that I am afraid I have suspected from the getgo that Momma was well aware of what happened to her baby.

Now the parents are saying that they do not believe the smugglers took their baby. Why would they do that???? To protect themselves from further retaliation???

I dont get this story, why did the woman get into a suv where she didnt know the person ? :slap:

Has anyone else noticed how calm, cool and collected MaMa is during interviews and poor Daddy is a torn up mess? There seems to be something more to this than is being told. I think someone is....

Iagree, this story doesnt make much sense. First why would she even get into a suv of a person she didnt know.? And mama doesnt really look into the camera either. But she does have her friend backing her up thats the only thing I cant understand. Not unless the friend is also in on it.

A couple of guests tried to point this out to Nancy Grace when she featured this story on her program and Nancy went ballistic. Momma is a victim, she said, and she wouldn't allow a victim to have accusations thrown at her. I'm not sure, maybe Nancy knows something we don't know, but that Mom was calm, cool and collected during her interview, while the Dad sobbed his heart out. I'd almost go so far as to say she enjoyed the interview, she was sort of smiling.

kidzndogz-- because-- either it's a outright lie, (although why would they rat themselves out for being illegal aliens??- and why would the dad be crying) OR, they kidnappers told them to shut up or they will kill the baby... if they haven't already.

I don't understand why the women climbed into a stranger's car either. Maybe because two women in a car with just one other women felt safer than climbing in with a strange man??? If the mother knew the woman driving the car was one of the smugglers (the parents call them "coyotes") I don't think she would have just gotten in. I think the person who took the baby was unfamiliar to the mom. I think both parents are lying about not believing the smugglers are responsible. I don't understand the reason why they would lie about this (thank you for trying to explain it to me Reb) though. If the mom is cool and collected, maybe she thinks the baby will be returned if they can now come up with the payment. Maybe the father knows more how the smuggling "system" works and is broken up because he knows the baby is already gone. I don't think the smugglers would kill the baby. I don't think they are out to simply hurt the parents (although that is certainly part of it). I think they are also out to regain whatever money they were shorted. They can make that money by selling the baby in the black market. I don't think we will ever see that baby again.:(

Maybe mama isn't too proud to take happy pills? :waitasec: She might *seem* calm and collected because the doctor ordered her to take medication so she wouldn't be in hysterics. The father might not have gone in, or might not have been deemed distraught enough to warrent medicating?
