I guess the comments got so bad they shut it down.

Public is outraged at this woman.

I understand their outrage.

"I've been quiet long enough, listening to people make fools of themselves," Perrywinkle said.
To tell you the truth, it's not a life I want anyone to live," she said. "My life is altered now forever. And I do the best that I can for myself. I live every day one at a time. And I bleed like anyone else, I cry like anyone else, and people judge me all the time and they have to answer to a big God."

I, MY, I, MYSELF, I BLEED, I CRY, ME. Still all about you, Rayne?

Pretty sure you could have been rightfully charged with child endangerment. And I know for a fact you were rude towards/ignored your two surviving girls during visitations, when you actually had visitations.

Also pretty sure Cherish CRIED harder and BLED more than you could ever imagine, all while you were busy filling up a Walmart shopping cart after sending your baby off with a strange man you said gave you a creepy vibe. And if you actually could think of anyone else beside yourself for ten seconds, you would realize why people rip you apart in the media when you make your I-ME-MY statements like these.

"I see Destiny and Nevaeh once a week for two hours, and we have to cram all these activities into that small amount of time," she said. "And I look forward to seeing them every week, and when I leave, it breaks my heart and sometimes I cry, but that's what we have to deal with right now until they come back to me."

I see koolaid is still being used off-label

DCFS needs to be investigated. Reunification so that the remaining children will be placed in harm's way.

It sounds as though both of the culpable parties will be in court today.

"As the man accused of abducting, raping and killing an 8-year-old girl last summer is due back in court Wednesday ...."

"Another hearing in the Perrywinkle custody case is set for Wednesday morning before Judge Denise DeLorenzo."

IMO

ETA: I quoted the wrong link above ... sorry :blushing:

http://jacksonville.com/news/crime/...earing-perrywinkle-case-set-wednesday-morning

The mother of 8-year-old Cherish Perrywinkle, who was abducted, raped, and killed in June 2013, is scheduled for a child dependency hearing at 9 a.m. Wednesday in the Duval County courthouse.

Rayne Perrywinkle’s two remaining children — 5-year-old N and 6-year-old D — were taken away by the state’s Department of Children and Families shortly after her daughter Cherish was found strangled and raped off Broward Road.

The hearing is a preliminary step in the process to decide who will have custody of the two girls... Perrywinke’s longtime boyfriend and the children’s biological father — Aharon Pearson — are no longer living together. Both have indicated they want custody. Pearson’s father, Tom, has also indicated he wants custody of the children, as have some of Perrywinkle’s family who live in Australia.

I pray the court does what is right for these kids.

A judge closed to the public the child dependency hearing for Rayne Perrywinkle’s children while the girls’s parents and state officials discused terminating their parental rights...

Judge Henry Davis placed a gag order on everyone who was allowed to stay in the courtroom, but another hearing will be scheduled next week, according to Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office lieutenant who advised reporters – waiting outside the courtroom – of the gag order.

So I've been reading a lot about this case, both here and at other sources. Most of the comments, it seems, are about the mom, which is surprising to me in a way, as what happened to Cherish is clearly the fault of a very, very bad man. And I've been trying to decide how I feel about what I know about her, which really isn't much, but this old adage comes to mind, "There is no law against stupidity." What if she simply didn't know any better? I'm not implying she's stupid, because I really have no way to know, but what if she is? What if she honestly just didn't have the mental acuity to suss out the danger she and her children were in?

Shouldn't our anger rather be directed at the man who did this?

I'm late reading these pages, so forgive for this being so late! You've raised a subject that I think many of us have also thought. He charmed her, offered to pay for some things, and she thought he was okay. This isn't the first time a horror like this has occurred -- babysitters, next-door-neighbors, uncles, group leaders, and all the rest. Such a tragedy.

And I know that you're not really new, but anyway --

Seeing this bumped to the top, I'd hoped there was news of more arrests.

Between this case and Jenise Wright's case I'm really starting to lose faith in our justice system. We must start holding parents responsible for adequately parenting their children. You can't rely on the village to raise your children and you can't trust the creepy man with a gift card and a cheeseburger to take care of your child.

Also Relisha Rudd!

Also Relisha Rudd!

Thank you! I can't believe that I left her out. I never dreamed that she would still be missing after all this time. That sweet baby never stood a chance though.

Aliayah Lunsford is another that will always stay with me. We are coming up on the 3 year anniversary of her disappearance but the pain and sadness in her eyes haunts me as much today as it did on day one. I want justice for her so badly. She knew very little happiness in her short life but people know her and love her now and that matters.

will the killer be charged with kidnapping since rp sent cherish off with him?

IMO, yes.

I don't know about FL laws on kidnapping, but many states consider holding someone again his/her will is regarded as kidnapping -- so little Cherish, I'm sure, at some point didn't want to be with that man. And I'll give RP one tiny bit of credit, grudgingly, that she did not want that man to keep her daughter indefinitely. I will assume (grudgingly again) that RP thought the "nice man" would come back with Cherish in a few minutes.

I also assume RP was hoping to see them both again because she was also thinking about that gift certificate... Grrrrrr.

Yeah... grrrr is about all I can muster too! I assume (JMO of course) she was hoping to see him again because she wanted the gift certificate and the cheeseburger.

If she is going to do everything in power to protect other child from suffering the same fate as Cherish, might I suggest she start at home and immediately cease fighting to regain custody of her younger children and take steps to ensure that she never brings another child into this world!

I also don't understand the drug screening/classes deal. This woman didn't send Cherish into the lion's den because she was wasted, she did it because has ZERO PARENTING SKILLS. My G-d, you can't teach what this creature is lacking. She has no common sense and even less maternal instinct.

bbm

Makes me wonder how RP was raised and how RP could have learned from that -- this is not intended as a slam against her parents -- but did she learn nothing from them? How it should be done? or How it should not be done? Has possible drug use just zombied her out so that she cannot think and arrange priorities any more? Is that it? This is certainly not said to mitigate or give her an out for anything, but there is some kind of disconnect there, IMO. OMO.
