I wonder 1) how could Sigfredo Garcia afford the services of Saam Zangeneh? and 2) why was Saam Zangeneh unable to settle the case prior going to trial as his usual modus operandi?

May be, someone with deep pocket pays Saam Zangeneh to avoid speeling the beans. May be Sigfredo Garcia is a Priapean man in need of attention, hence his (potential) desire for becoming the trial’s star.

The Consolidated Dispatch Agency will pay the family of slain Florida State law professor Dan Markel $40,000 to avoid litigation over his 2014 death.
The money will be paid by the CDA's general liability insurance policy to Markel's sons, who were toddlers when he was killed.
It took ambulances 19 minutes to arrive at Markel's Betton Hills garage on July 18, 2014, when he was shot in the head by an alleged hitman.
