Fort Lauderdale is very popular winter destination for people who live all along the east coast. She could have been from anywhere. Perhaps she was a visitor whom he spotted at the beach.

Hi, I was investigating the unidentified Davie / Broward County Jane Doe 1984 (NamUs 1258, The Doe Network: 554UFFL) - and I was wondering if Lauren Gail Andersen (missing 1981 from MN, NamUs 12043, 1386DFMN - Lauren Gail Andersen) has been investigated and/or ruled out as her possible identity.

A few things struck me as being very similar:

Jane Doe was found in 1984, and Lauren Gail Andersen went missing in 1981 (left with someone).

I feel the two have a strong physical resemblance. Lauren Gail Andersen: 1386DFMN - Lauren Gail Andersen

And Jane Doe: Broward County Jane Doe (1984)

Lauren was 5’4”, 115 lbs when missing in 1981, and Jane Doe was 5’4”, 120 lbs. Both had short and very curly blonde hair. Lauren had brown eyes, and Jane Doe was thought to have hazel eyes. Lauren was age 20 when she went missing in 1981 (which would make her 22-23 when Jane Doe was found in 1984), and Jane Doe was estimated to be 21-34 years old.

DNA is listed as being “available” for both Lauren and Jane Doe 1984.

It’s most likely that Diana was killed at or near the time of her disappearance, but I couldn’t overlook the similarities between these two.

I believe that LE sent them just to Carl so that he could do a reconstruction with the stipulation that they not be released to the public. Florida is really strict about the release of postmortem photos; very few autopsy / mortuary photos of UIDs found in the state are available for viewing online, even cases where a decedent is found in a completely-recognizable state shortly after death.

This particular decedent is said to be overall recognizable, but apparently, she was somewhat decomposed from having been in the water for a few days before they managed to find her body.

EDIT: I see now that the photos were actually sent to another member (Ms. Suzanne, the sister of Tammy Lynn Leppert). It looks like she let Carl and possibly another member see the photos. This was a really long time ago, and I wasn't there, so anyone, feel free to correct me if anything in this post is inaccurate.
