''It was nine years ago on Tuesday when a seismic event shattered the Markel family forever.''
.......

''One irony is that because of Dan Markel’s ferocious opposition to the death penalty — indeed, it was one of the cornerstones of his legal work — Ferrari-driving Charlie Adelson will not have a blind date with the needle.''

''Ruth Markel exclusively told The Toronto Sun on the ninth anniversary of her son’s death that this is “always a hard time of year.”

“This is hard and getting more difficult as we age into it,” Ruth said. “It’s our whole life at this stage. It does not get easier but we are hoping we are starting to get closer to the end of the line.”

''Ruth Markel has won numerous plaudits for her advocacy for her son and grandchildren. Because of her efforts, Florida passed the Markel Act that protects the rights of grandparents in the event of a murder or some other nefarious incident.''

....
''Markel said the academic’s family and friends remain forever grateful to dogged detectives and prosecutors who never gave up trying to solve his senseless slaying.

They have been there for us from the start and never, ever turned their backs,” she said.

Nor have they turned their backs on the Adelson clan, as Charlie the Dentist will discover in October when he’s face to face with a life sentence in a sweltering Florida prison.

Death penalty, no, but he may wish for it.''

Sigfredo was transferred today. Anyone know the reason or is this common? I have not received a vine notice in ages. Just wanted to see if anyone knew.
Interesting. I suppose the issue will take on more meaning if Florida DOC fails to report where he's been moved since leaving Holmes CI.

Does anybody recall where he went if not Holmes CI since leaving Leon County Detention Facility in Oct 2019 after he was convicted of murder?

POIs: Wendi Adelson (ex-wife of Markel), her mom Donna Sue Adelson (68) & father Harvey Adelson. Investigators have not charged any of these people in the Adelson family in connection with Markel’s death, except Charlie; but say Adelson’s mother & brother – Donna & Charlie Adelson – paid $100K to have Markel killed following the couple’s contentious divorce so their two young sons could move to South Florida.

'In a war of attrition, morale is the key armor.'
There’s a military strategy, largely considered a dirty tactic, where the likely losing party attempts to win by wearing down their opponent until collapse.
This approach — “attrition warfare” — is generally considered a last resort, as it doesn’t deliver a decisive blow and, according to one description, only leaves the door open for “losers to believe they can win the next time.”
That’s what accused murderer Charlie Adelson and his lawyer Daniel Rashbaum seem to be hoping for as they head toward his fall trial in the hired killing of Charlie’s former brother-in-law, FSU law professor Dan Markel: exhaust the system, “win” a mistrial, and get another chance at acquittal down the road.
In today’s (Aug. 25) case management hearing, Rashbaum told Judge Robert Wheeler that his team anticipates a more extended trial than the scheduled two weeks.
“Our case could be lengthy and could go a week, five to six days of testimony,” Rashbaum said, noting that this would bring the trial out several days from its current Nov. 9 closing. Jury selection will begin on Monday, Oct. 23, with opening statements and the state’s case likely to begin that Friday or the following Monday.''
