Police are working to identify human remains found in the 1900 block of Gillespie Avenue in Sarasota Monday afternoon.
The Sarasota Police Department Dive Team, Criminal Investigations Division and Crime Scene Technicians are at the scene working diligently to identify the individual.
The body's race, sex and cause of death are still unknown.
The agency's spokeswoman Genevieve Judge said children found the remains around 3:30 p.m. as they played and told an adult.
Detectives are still speaking with them.
Judge said she has been "inundated with phone calls from members of the media" asking her if the remains are those of missing Sarasota teenager Jabez Spann, but Judge said it's too soon to tell.
