There is a $50,000 reward for any information, Buck says. She chases down every lead and is willing to meet anyone with information, even if it’s away from the police station.

Jabez Spann was last seen September 4, 2017 in his hometown of Sarasota, Florida. His mom, Tawana Spann, last spoke to the 14-year-old that night and says he didn’t mention anything out of the ordinary. Tawana told Dateline that, the next morning, Jabez’s maternal grandmother, with whom he lived, grew worried when she learned Jabez hadn’t gone to school. The Sarasota Police Department has partnered with the FBI and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to conduct searches of the area. So far, they have found no significant evidence leading to Jabez’s whereabouts. Sarasota Police Department Public Information Officer Genevieve Judge told Dateline that detectives continue to work diligently on the case and follow up on every lead, including investigating a possible connection between Jabez’s disappearance and the local homicide of Travis Combs. No arrests have been made in connection with the case. The FBI, the FDLE and the Sarasota Police Department are offering a combined $50,000 reward for any information leading to Jabez’s whereabouts.

Exact location is not released, it's in Manatee County, west of off I-75, it's a rural area.

A worker who was repairing a fence found the remains in an area that will remain unspecified during the course of the investigation and called 911. The location was outside the original search area.

It is unknown how long the remains were at the location, or whether Spann died from natural causes or if foul play was involved.

Death Investigation Opened After Sarasota Teen's Remains Found

Police have no leads - but say they don’t believe Spann left Sarasota of his own free will prior to his death.
Local police and the FBI said in Nov. 2017 that Spann had witnessed the murder of Travis Combs, 31, in August of 2017. He vanished about a week after that.
