One thing for sure...when CB is reinterviewed by LE, she should be able to remember the truth of what she knows. Truth don’t lie.

1. Motive.
2. Opportunity.
3. Throwing shade at her brother.
4. The 3 am run to the store.

Age old question. Who would benefit the most from the disappearance of JDL? JMVHO.

I wonder when a new interview would happen. Future interviews could be totally hampered if said non-POI, non-suspect lawyers up. I really wish Don’s body would be located. And the only clue to that is in that 2nd restraining order. At least clues I’m aware of. Jmo

Either he refuses to talk, wants his privacy, LE has asked him not to discuss it... or he can’t be found either? If he’s hoping to stay out of the spotlight, that ship has already sailed.

ETA: I almost missed the part in your post about her brother. YES! Why haven’t there been interviews/ reports on his version of this story- the night Don went missing he randomly runs into her at 3AM while out on patrol?! And his partner takes CB back to BCR? Interviews with partner too please!

He is supposed to be on DailyMail TV or Inside Edition (one of those newsy shows) today at 4pm. I saw a clip on Friday and he's looking into the camera asking Carole where Don is. I'm on the West Coast so some of you may have seen it already.

Summary:
In the late 1990’s Alan Schreier sold his condo & moved in with CB. His son Todd Schreier lived there too- not allowed to have friends over or be in CB’s half of the house, “lived on eggshells” and was told not to ask questions about DL. A cement slab in the middle of her property never had an explanation. Neither think CB killed DL, but son thinks she knows something. AS & CB broke-up over religious differences.

ETA: Almost forgot the most important part- the hot tub was “very pleasurable”. :confused::eek:

Wait!! This is a different guy! Alan Schreier, a retired real estate developer sold his condo and moved in with her. Says he renovated the whole place. His then 15 yr old son, Todd said Carole and his father had an active sex life and she didn't want him around. He wasn't allowed in her "half of the house." Todd said he walked on egg shells. They both said she was not a people person.

The son said he was told not to ask about Don. He said there was an inexplicable cement slab on the property that had no use. He called it a red flag.

The ex boyfriend doesn't think she killed him. Said he asked her what happened to Don. She told him he carried a lot of cash and thinks one of his unsavory associates did something to him.

The son said she's cold. She'd probably "be the world champion at keeping secrets." Thinks she probably knows more than she's saying.

They both said she truly cares about the animals. Alan said she likes animals more than people. They split over religious beliefs. More details on DailyMail.com

I believe his money came from real estate deals. Or at least big part of it. He seemed so humble, intelligent and cautious that, if he was involved in any sort of illegal transactions, the profits would probably go somewhere else other than his bank account. JMO

I’m SURE it would make interesting reading. In many links up thread, there are references to DL’s work as a construction laborer, who then bought equipment & then bought real estate & airplanes. He also bought loans in arrears, charged high interest rates & foreclosed to gain ownership. He was a wheeler-dealer, jack of all trades. May have even got some good insurance payouts on all those totaled aircraft. Jmo

AS in one man more with whom CB made a real estate deal and got romantically involved with.
Baykal was her tenant and got an eviction notice the day before he filed for the restraining order.

I finally found it- this is the 2005 article that describes how DL made his money. Apparently he owned over 350 properties in 5 counties at the time of his death. Perhaps some of the “unsavory characters” were those he foreclosed on after charging 18% interest? Guessing. Plus he had the 200 acres near a volcano in Costa Rica.

It was published Oct 2, 2005 but it's actually an archived article from Sep 19, 1997. The same day (or a day after) she disconnected Don's phone and then we read this: "(...)her eyes welling with tears, she said recently she wanted terribly to find Don.(...)".

Thank you, it’s a interesting article. They’ll also be considerable sums of money that they both made from the sale of the big cats. Another part of history that CB would rather was left uncovered but I would imagine the price of the cats was a lot higher in those days. JMO

Not sure... BCR reported operating at a deficit for many years. Cage set-up & repairs, vet bills, animal transport, animal forklift, feeding, etc. Very big money to keep-not just own- a big cat. This article says they initially donated income producing real estate to help cover costs. BCR is a non-profit 501(c)(3)

CB states they’ve saved enough of a return to operate for 10 months in an economic downturn. That’s not much! And COVID-19 isn’t helping. They may even have extra vet expense if one of those tigers gets the virus.

I don’t believe she’s honest about BCRs finances. The vet is family and a lot of the food they get is donated. We know they don’t pay the volunteers. They also get quite a lot of money from YouTube ads, fundraising etc. She’s quite crafty in that she ‘rescues’ big cats with a story so that the donations that come in are huge. Look up Mickey cougar for example. His story was really sad...worse for the animals in that place that were left behind though.

This makes a interesting read, of course it’s biased as it’s from an opposing group but even if the truth lies somewhere between what they state and she states. I’m actually quite worried for the cats. With her new found infamy, the death threats, the current covid19 crisis and the investigation into DL I wouldn’t be surprised if she suddenly announced BCR was closing and she shut it all down. I hope someone is following the finances with scrutiny. JMO

Nonprofits have to make their tax returns public for 3 years & watchdog groups archive these. I think CB lies about much, but I think the sanctuary numbers are legit. She has so many enemies with all her proposed legislation, she’s spied on like a hawk, imo. If there was anything suspect in the numbers, she’d get turned in pronto. IRS agents would audit/ investigate & possibly interview sponsors, corporations & big tier support. She’s a sharp cookie & she’s not going to get her funding jeopardized, imo. Now the husband who gets in her way... that may be another story.

I enjoy reading the different thoughts brought forth here. I find myself agreeing with one comment...then reading another comment and changing my mind. It’s all good. Isn’t that old saying “it’s a woman’s prerogative to change her mind”?? Well that’s what I’m doing.
