Don't they have a mini trial type thing with the judge to see if stand your ground applies first? iirc that is what was being scheduled with Zimmerman before his lawyers said he was not using that defense.

That was my understanding, too. Gosh, it's frustrating when people start an altercation, then claim self-defense when it doesn't go their way. And the fact that it seems to work for some of those people is just sickening. And scary!!

*Sigh* This is going to be interesting.

Questioning of the 62 potential jurors is wrapping up. Then they'll narrow it down to 12 and 4. Hopefully opening arguments will begin tomorrow and keep us updated on that streaming link! I gotta watch this one.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

At the end of the third day of questioning potential jurors, Judge Michael Healey seated six men and 10 women to serve as the jury and alternates to hear the trial of Michael Dunn.

The jury consists of five white women, three black women, an Asian woman and an Indian or Middle Eastern woman, along with five white men and a Hispanic man.

Those selected were allowed to go home for the night and report back to the Duval County Courthouse at 11 a.m. Thursday prepared to be sequestered for the duration of the trial -- likely until late next week.

Opening statements in the first-degree murder case are expected to begin at noon Thursday.
