Utah Woman's Body Found In Pond Next To Fort Lauderdale Hotel She Was Staying At

It’s still unclear how Glover’s body ended up in this pond. But CBS4’s Ty Russell did notice a sign warning people about fishing and swimming. It also tells them to watch out for gators.

“We have not really been able to dial in much more information other than Krista said they went to bed. Then, she woke up and Kelly had vanished from the hotel room,” Melissa Glover said.

[...]

“She was here for a work trip. I used to work for the same company. She was here to do a marketing video shoot,” DG said.

Police don’t suspect foul play. However, detectives are still investigating. Relatives said Glover was last seen on surveillance video in the stairwell at the hotel.

Detectives with the Fort Lauderdale Police Department are now waiting on the medical examiner to determine a cause of death.

It was the night before a full moon, so I suppose it's possible she could not sleep and went for a walk. However, a lucid person simply going for a walk would not leave the door ajar in the middle of the night when they had a room key to use. I highly doubt a lucid person would also not take their phone.

So, why wasn't she lucid? At this point, Ambien is just speculation.

This is an odd one. Perhaps when we find out more it will all make sense, but how she ended up in that pond I just can’t logically understand, unless she was on something like Ambien.

Additionally, if she was known to struggle with depression I’d think we would have seen an “endangered” addition to her missing info, although I could be wrong. Seems an odd way to commit suicide though. And why take a water bottle?

Remind me, was her phone left in her room? I wondered if she might have nipped out for a photo and fell into the water because she was focused on the screen and didn't realise the curb was so close.

I'm honestly not sure what to make of this case but in other cases where self harm was determined... individuals have taken sleep aids first to make suicide more bearable. Jennifer Huston comes to mind though so hung herself.

Jennifer Huston: Police say Dundee woman died of suicide by asphyxiation

From article...
She withdrew less than $100 from a bank; stopped at Rite-Aid to buy Gatorade, trail mix and over-the-counter sleeping medication.

So frightening. I bet you were scared to death. That's an interesting theory about the "home path". Muscle memory.

this makes a lot (the most so far, at least ) sense to me. She thought she was going down to the kitchen to grab a drink of water. Or maybe she has a pool at her house in UT.

how is ambien still legal?! All these stories are terrifying.

I agree... Ambien should be taken off the market. Story after story about bizarre activities while under the influence of it.

im new and not sure if this is allowed so please let me know or delete. But public records indicate she lived in a condo apt - second floor- with a resident pool. Again, maybe she slept walked or was in a mental state where she thought she was home. Stairs would be her common exit route.

I hope her family gets some answers. How heartbreaking.

I am in Ft Lauderdale and the winds the last few days have been unusually high, on Thursday there were gusts around 20 mph. Could possibly make a person lose their balance especially if medication or alcohol involved? Lose one’s footing and hit their head on the side of the sea wall if they fell over?

I don't want to think it was suicide but it's hard not to.

Except why leave the door propped open and the hotel room ajar?
I can’t help but think this was likely a suicide.

Do we know for sure the door was propped open? Is it possible it just wasn’t shut all the way?

When I read that she had a water bottle with her, my first thought was perhaps she was intent on taking something that would make her drowsy once she was ready :(.

Regardless of what happened, I am so sad for Kelly. My thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones.

I think the whole thing was an accident. I do not believe it was foul play, nor suicide. I think it was a horrible accident. My heart goes out to her husband Adam and her extended family. JMO
