I agree with you. However, SS had been grooming MS since at least age 8. It's hard to say what she really thought their relationship was.

When I consider how that piece of trash SS betrayed and abused this child, I want to "kill him with my bare hands" as the saying goes. I cannot understand her mother's demeanor (as most of you have already expressed). Poor little Maddie could not possibly have understood her reality from a mature point of view or as outsiders see it. Is it too terrible of me to hope he's put into the general population of the jail/prison?

JS expresses wondering why MS didn't share this boy crush news with her but excuses this away by telling detectives it was probably because she told MS that she could not date until she was 16.

OH OK, so they must have not tried Stephan's desktop first to read those USB drives when they found out they had 30k pics on them. am I misunderstanding?

Not sure. What went on in North Port from 2/24 to date is confusing and somewhat incomprehensible. While the HTC interview does add to the information base in this case, it raises more questions too.
At 1:30:00 onwards the Stearns indicate they have turned considerable items and materials over to LE, and THEY PLUGGED IN THE USB drives into "the computer...". You can only conclude that computer had to be another, not the machine that did not have an HDD. Also they state it took police 3-weeks for LE to come get those drives and the desktop computer at which time the HDD was missing, but CS says Stephan had used that computer the morning of 2/25 before he headed for Kissimmee.
We know also that CS indicated he had found an old hard drive and 2-USB drives in their storage unit; in a bin. That happened after LE had executed a search warrant on that storage unit. SS was in custody well before that unit was searched by LE so why did they not find the drives themselves?
If we are looking for things that don't quite make sense in this case: There's lots to go around.

It will take a while to match up dates from pictures and videos with cell phone data placing JS in the same vicinity when these occurred.
I revert back to the case number post I made.
When interviewing JS, they are using another case number not associated with SS Case numbers on file.

exactly, this is what I mean, you got my post before I deleted it, (lol) I will speak for myself, if I found 2 thumb drives in my kids room, (while my kid was in custody otherwise I wouldnt snoop ) and I thought to plug them in, I think I might try to turn that desk top on also.

LE establishing a case number does not mean that a person would be brought to prosecution for a crime. As soon as JS reported MS missing there would be reports generated; as soon as LE was reasonably certain a crime had been committed that report file would be incorporated into what was then a case file.
I believe Orange County would have established a case file in the early going, when they had a missing, possibly abducted child. CSAM and murder came up later.
May very well be the CS Number is the original Missing Child file which JS reported. IIRC that would have been transferred to Kissimmee when CCTV videos indicated that MS most probably died there.

IIRC way way back in the earlier threads, it was explained that the new death penalty law as it pertained to child SA applied to crimes that occurred in children 12 and under and after a certain date. I dont think maddis case met that criteria, it was a new bill that DeSantis signed. I could try to find it again.

JS treated them (her daughter and her whatever-he-was) like roommates. No, like a couple of young siblings. Orphans, but siblings.

Pregnancy or the belief thereof would certainly be a compelling motive. If MS found his videos...

But this crush.... we know MS was abused, violated, filmed for years. Criminal. Full stop. But in his demented mind, was the crush competition? If I can't have you....

For SS, this sick, criminal arrangementship was a relationship to him. He groomed this child to be his fantasy partner, doing all the things no adult woman would do with him... plus, like all pedophiles, he no doubt justified it all. "Maddie only knew love". That's not what love is, SS. Revolting. MS was starved for attention, JS was inattentive as well as primed for manipulation -- see, MS likes me, nothing to see here -- awful, awful, awful -- where the family code, learned early, is not to talk about what's happening.

How does something so completely wrong become so casually normal?

Thanks for sharing this @Poedelini …. and I think I caught something that IMO was unsettling.

JS is clarifying to detectives about her medication and her need for sound sleep that evening. At ~12:04 in (12 minutes 4 seconds) JS mentions her need for sleep to detectives and then states that she had sent them (SS and MS) upstairs. The video then indicates at ~12:30 that [redacted] had asked could all three sleep together in one bed instead? (Exactly whose name is redacted is not indicated. But JS’s next statement is along the lines that MS is a restless sleeper and tends to move around, and that might disrupt her (JS) rest. And as a result that suggestion by [redacted] was overruled and then SS and MS were sent upstairs at JS request. Which is MS last evening IIRC.)

So if this is correct, seems that MS has asked or pleaded with JS (and SS) to let them sleep with her. Maybe that was obvious earlier to others…… but I somehow missed it.

And if this is the case, the result of that decision is apparent. Sadly. And seems MS may have requested that all be together? As if she might not have wanted to be in a bed with SS IMO? SMH. MOO

thank you! yes, I remember it now! the part about his dad 'hovering the mouse' over the file. but he is saying it was 3 weeks for LE to come get the items. I found his first interview with LE in the car before SS is arrested. listening now because he claims in this "we are being victimized interview', he told them about SS computer and to come get it. the chron in the attached report states CS called with 'an update' on April 11 which is about the drive found in the storage unit. and on April 12 LE came to retrieve the items which included the drive AND 2 USBs. which would be turned over to Kissimmee LE.

listening now to CS 2/28 interview. its really is an OMG of so many suspect statements by CS AND DS who was briefly on speaker phone during CS with LE in the car .

That is manipulative to me, to call them sleepovers and slumber parties. is like shes trying to minimize it and make it sound more innocent. She knows full well this is not a slumber party, as if she was going along with what maddi wanted. She says she was not aware of the SA, I wonder if she ever saw them "playing Dr." Thats about the mentality there.

I've tried to stop reading on this thread in fear of being banned for life. No, Jen, she isn't abnormal! She is suffering trauma from being sexually abused for many years. I wish I could interview her. JMO
