ORMC is still on lock down. No access to the club property by the public for flowers, etc. It is still blocked off. A vigil is being held at 6:30 p.m., but I did not catch the name.

Earlier on local news 6 some govt offical asked that vigils be held off till tomm - LE is overwhelmed, and they would need to have some of their folks there!

Norway shooter killed 68 and injured 100. So yes, it looks like one shooter could do this, and has. IMO

Norway had some different dynamics tho. He blew up the city first , dragging LE down there, and then did it on an island, so he had a lot of time before LE could get to the island

Interesting. It takes almost 12 hours for it to come out that the terrorist called 911 to claim ISIS loyalty, and references the boston bombers, and we find out the FBI has had this guy on their radar since 2013, and the terrorist is the american born son of Afghani immigrants, whose father is running for political office in Afghanistan. And all of them are Muslim. And it's Ramadan. And Al Baghdadi has called for lone wolves to attack during Ramadan. And a gay pride celebration is scheduled for today.

Authorities (Including the POTUS and highest levels of leaders) absolutely, positively knew ALL of this in the first 15 min after the 911 call came in, and the shooting started.

But we will be led to believe it's all just a vast coincidence. Or that it's workplace violence, or some other absurd notion.

See how the spin and suppression works? This time they kept a lid on it for 10-12 hours. How long was it in San Bernadino?

Why is he wearing NYPD SHIRT??? He was a licensed security guard and was able to easily purchase guns because of his clearance. Something is very, very wrong and this "political correctness" is turning into "public blindness"... I can remember the time when the FBI showing up at your house if you didn't return your selective service card? He already had violent tendencies and had abused his wife! Safety first.

Disney has always been known to have a large amount of gay employees.

There was a huge amount of hate here when Disney supported it. Protests all sorts of stuff. Orlando is not exactly an enlighted city!!

Speaking of hate,hope it is ok to tell a story. I was at a Gay rally in Orlando in the late 1980's when the KluKluxKlan showed up and reached into a bag,I thought they were going to pull out a gun but they had rubber gloves and put them on.We chanted "Your gloves don't match your shoes!". I had no idea the Klan was still active in Orlando and never seen them up close.The police did not like them,we were escorted to our cars.People were more offended by the Klan than the gays.

NYPD put out a statement (no link) that he is wearing a t-shirt that anyone in the public can purchase, and that he has no association or affiliation with NYPD at all. They were on top of that as soon as pics hit the web.

Everytime we have one of these, after about an hour media starts on all this "security" stuff..

Its a soft target, so was last night. Batman was a soft target. We do not have a capacity to guard everywhere. IMO we have to accept this reality

Indeed... Joe Public just doesn't understand how many people there are out there who "look odd", who have to be checked out and balanced against all the others who look odd because there aren't the resources to watch everyone, no matter what some like to believe. And, of course, JP would go nuts if tabs were kept on people without enough evidence to warrant it.

CNN read a statement that OM worked for this security agency for 9 years (OM is only 29, so he started working for them at age 20.)

The agency had contracts to protect federal property and federal buildings.

I would not be surprised that Omar Mateen is an injustice collector/injustice creator that harbored grudges for all his life. He would also be vicarious as terrorists tend to be that. Most terrorists are injustice collectors, mainly vicarious injustice collectors.

What a sad, sad day. The deadliest shooting in US history and it happens to be an attack against the LGBT community. Combined with the thwarted attack on Gay Pride in LA, my feelings are really all over the place. My daughter is gay and I've attended many LGBT events over the years. I'm a very strong supporter of gay rights and am afraid this is the beginning of a larger targeting of the community by terrorists.

I feel like I have so much to say, but can't find the right words...

MSNBC is reporting that OM called 911 right before the shooting declaring his allegiance to ? (someone's name) with ISIS. He said a name but I can't remember. Reported by someone name Pete just a few minutes ago.

I hate to say this, but I am concerned that law enforcement could have handled this better. Why did it take three hours was he going room to room in the club shooting people? Were a substantial number of these fatalities from "friendly fire". There is no training that could prepare anyone on how to handle these situations,. So tight lipped about everything, make me remember Columbine.

Oh thank you K_Z...I thought he might have "impersonated being an officer" in order to get into the club with weapons. Or, he had planned something like this in NY, but NY security is pretty top-notch these days, and looked for a softer target. Nonetheless, the dark green polo shirt looks "Official" to the laymen, like me....it could really confuse a person in an emergency situation. I think the gray t-shirt looks like something you could purchase at a souvenir store.

Witnesses were saying there was more than one shooter and they thought he was wearing a suicide vest ---with implanted bomb. So if LE thought that was the case then they could not just run into the club. They would be putting more people at risk in doing so. He had hostages, essentially.

And a nightclub, with tiny alcoves and lots of little nooks, is a very difficult place for LE to take over and control.
