Legal analysts say 1 reason government is showing jury in #salmantrial such disturbing images is so it can make the case Omar Mateen planned to die in the club. They hope to prove his widow knew his plan due to his transferring of finances to her.

#SalmanTrial latest: Found inside the van Omar Mateen drove to the #pulse nightclub was a gun he chose not to use in the massacre, along with a slew of receipts for items purchased just before the attack, but NOT signed by his wife, who is on trial. @WESH

Note: Federal courts bar cameras/electronics inside court. Also, once entered as evidence, even the graphic photos and videos become public, however it will take several days for public release. @MyNews13

Video played in court, showing the attack unfold, and aftermath, is as graphic as you could imagine. In the gallery and overflow courtroom are families of victims, survivors, and Pulse owner Barbara P. @MyNews13

There was complete silence in the court as a timeline video played. Noor Salman kept her head down, tilted to the right, as everyone else had their eyes locked on the screens in front of them. @MyNews13

The video gave a timeline as to what happened. Showed just after 1:30 a.m. Omar Mateen walked inside, paid admission and spent about 11 minutes inside. He left, only to return minutes later. @MyNews13

Surveillance video showed Omar Mateen shooting in the main area, people running or immediately falling to the ground. Mateen then walks room to room to shoot more victims and comes back to main area to fire some more #NoorSalman #pulse #trial

Video then shows the start of the attack, as Mateen opened fire on club goers on the dance floor. In videos OM is seen methodically moving around, adjusting his attack from the dance floor to the bar to the bathrooms. @MyNews13

You can see at one point officers coming into the club, trying to see if there are survivors but then they found more gunfire. You also see the dozens of bodies of victims – scattered throughout the club, in the bathrooms. @MyNews13

Later video shows SWAT blowing a hole through the wall of the Pulse bathroom, trying to help people escape. That's when they confronted gunman, shot and killed him. @MyNews13

Graphic photos and videos were used during testimony during two different FBI special agents, as they described first clearing the scene of any possible explosives – and then going through the carnage and collecting evidence and taking measurements. @MyNews13

Surveillance video of Pulse nightclub shooting shown in court( with clip)

"Jurors in the federal terrorism trial of Noor Salman, the wife of Pulse nightclub shooter Omar Mateen, got a gripping sense of the brutality of the 2016 massacre as they watched eerily-silent black-and-white security footage of the killer pacing through gaps in a sea of bodies on the club’s dance floor, firing slugs indiscriminately into anything that moved.

Salman, 31, shed tears during the airing of the video, which was shown publicly for the first time on Thursday. It followed equally disturbing cellphone audio from inside the Orlando, Florida, club’s bathroom during the attack, played for jurors on Wednesday afternoon. The audio included one recording in which the sound of rapid gunfire grew louder and louder as the killer approached, until the blasts crackled through the court speakers at ear-splitting levels...."

The testimony of these law enforcement officers is very important to both sides in the #NoorSalman case: The govt's case centers on statements she made to FBI agents, which the defense argues were coerced.

A theme among the cops/agents who encountered #NoorSalman in the hours after Pulse and have testified so far: She was too calm. She didn't ask obvious questions. She knew details we hadn't shared.

I have a very hard time believing she didn't know anything if she never asked the cops what incident they were referring to and never thought to ask why they were even at her house in the first place. Right off the bat, she just throws out there that her husband wouldn't use his guns unless he felt he needed to defend himself? Additionally, when she was asked if her husband had any known enemies... she said, "he likes everybody, even homosexuals".

Well, that's pretty telling.

Yet... I'm supposed to believe her when she says that she had no idea he was planning an attack --- an attack that turned out to be the deadliest mass shooting in US history (at least it was at the time) --- at a nightclub which specifically caters to the gay community? Yeah, no. I'm not buying that.

I'm not buying it either cujenn81.

Especially when they were "visiting" sites- Disney/Pulse. Who does that- listening to her husband- which one is "better"?

She knew. They need to throw away the key on this one, IMO.

Pulse shooting trial: Jurors watch graphic footage recorded in nightclub

"..."I feel like he is the devil in a human being's body," Susan Adeih, Salman's cousin, said outside the courthouse. "I feel so bad for the families. For Omar, I don't really give a damn. I wish Omar would burn in hell. That's how I feel."...

Although the photos and video are hard to forget, WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer said that showing them to jurors so early in the case could give defense attorneys a slight advantage.

"You have days and weeks for the shock effect to wear off," he said. "And then the jury concentrates on the facts, not on the emotionalism of the video."..."

Noor Salman cries as graphic evidence from Pulse shooting plays during trial

"ORLANDO, Fla. - He watched them salsa dancing and had a drink among them before he came back to kill them. Omar Mateen saw his victims laughing, smiling before he went out to his van and retrieved his weapons.

He opened fire at 2:02 a.m. on June 12, 2016, walking back into the club and raining bullets on couples who were just dancing at Pulse nightclub.

[WARNING: Some of the content may be considered graphic]...

The video introduced by the U.S. government was the first time anyone outside of law enforcement has seen the moment Mateen opened fire.

The jury panel sat in complete silence during the video, taking no notes. Salman, who has been in court for all of the proceedings, looked away and was visibly upset....

Testimony continues on Monday..."

LAW PROFESSOR PROVIDES INSIGHT TO START OF NOOR SALMAN TRIAL

"The federal trial for Noor Salman is under way in Orlando. Opening arguments were laid out this week and we’ve been learning more about the defendant. Salman is charged with aiding and abetting her husband Omar Mateen, the Pulse nightclub shooter. She is also charged with obstruction of justice. To brief us on this week’s start of the trial, we turn to Samuel Kan, Assistant Professor of Law at the Barry University School of Law.

Chavez: You were at opening arguments, lay out the highlights you heard from the prosecution...."

Hope someone can read this and post who they are as I have no more free articles...:(

The guy was going on a rampage regardless. And she didn't have enough prior information to secure him 20 years in prison.

So the cops wouldnt have been able to hold him in jail. Then he would have went home and killed her.

Now Im sure she was happy about getting rid of him. But the rampage shouldn't sit on her 100%. Jmo

I don't think they are trying to pin the whole thing on her, but, in a way, she was an accomplice because she knew what her husband was planning and didn't inform the authorities. Even if she couldn't stop him, wasn't there or didn't know when it was going to happen, she has some accountability, IMO. All those deceased innocent people would be alive now if she told the authorities and her husband would be put away for a very long time because they would see that he was a terrorist by his computer searches, etc.- just like the Tsarnaev brothers in the Boston bombing.

Pulse shooting trial: Prosecutors argue judge should not grant request for unanimous verdict

"ORLANDO, Fla. - On Sunday, prosecutors of the widow of the Pulse Nightclub shooter challenged a request by her defense that the judge require a unanimous verdict to qualify for a conviction for one of the charges against her.

The arrest of Noor Salman after the attack was based on two charges from the federal government: That she aided and abetted her husband, Omar Mateen, and that she tampered with evidence afterward..."
