Was Maria Anjiras ever suggested? https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/2560/0/

Height and weight match exactly. Age is within a few months. Eyes are the same color, Maria ran away during the 70s. Maria was last seen with members of a motorcycle club, and Jane Doe had the motorcycle burns. I'm just unsure about the nose but I think it's close enough...?

It could certainly be a match, but under the Circumstances tab, if one scrolls down, it says "Updated info in 2015 - Investigation into Maria being the young female observed at the Charter Oaks Motorcycle Club in Bethel, CT was found to be a different 17 year old female from Danbury, CT that went on to marry Pepe and live in South Carolina. This female was interviewed and it appears that the Bethel information is not viable."
Just adding that Maria wasn't necessarily a runaway, and she wasn't the girl seen at the motorcycle club, after all; that doesn't mean this cannot be a match. :)

Ugh. Thank you for telling me. Someone should tell Meaghan @ the Charley Project though. :/

Send her a PM on the CP FB page, that's the easiest thing to do. I haven't had luck with emailing her

She looks at emails and doesn't respond (though I get a response sometimes. Makes my day) and then eventually changes stuff. I don't blame her for it being a slow process... So many emails, so many MPs, and it looks like her daily life is pretty busy and hectic as well.

Either way, I still think this is Maria. Just wish there was a completely straight on photo...

Jamaica is in Queens, not Brooklyn. It would be unusual for somebody from one borough to say they lived in the other just because they're near the border. That might indicate she wasn't familiar with the NYC area.

And Jamaica is not even really on the border. It's pretty far into Queens.

My ex's family was from Cypress Hills, which is really Queens, but right on the border - they always said they were from Brooklyn.

I'm pursuing the Misa angle. I am thinking that she wasn't forthcoming about her name or age if she did in fact talk to police but I do not believe that she would pick Ben Misa's name out of thin air.

If she lived in the Young apartments, she would have gone to South Broward High School. Perhaps there is a match in one of the yearbooks.

From police site:

Case # 258983-Z
(1979)
Homicide of an unknown W/F, 18-22 years of age, 5'8", 120 lbs, red hair, hazel eyes, wearing blue jeans and a light colored pull over shirt.

Occurred: The victim's body was discovered on Tuesday, September 4, 1979, at 7:30 a.m., at the Biscayne Garden Apartments, 15555 N.W. 2 Avenue, Miami, lying near a garbage dumpster at the rear of the apartment complex.

Narrative: The victim's body was discovered by residents of the apartment complex. It appears that the victim was killed at another location and dumped in the area where she was found.

http://canyouidentifyme.blogspot.co.uk/2015/12/late-summer-1979.html

Her height varies on different sites from 5'6" to 5'8". One site even reported 5'9". Her eye colour also varies from hazel, green to grey. Hair colour varies from blond/strawberry to red.

Her recovery date was changed from April 4 to September 4. I wonder if it had to do anything with statements that in ’79 the murder rate in Miami was so high (due to drug wars between cartels) that police and coroners were overwhelmed. Many death records went unrecorded during that time due to the lack of man power or inability to identify a person.

https://deansguide.wordpress.com/2008/07/13/miami-dadeland-massacre-1979-the-war-on-drugs-begins/

When she was recovered there was Hurricane David on Sept 3rd and 4th hitting Florida, one of the most destructive and deadly Atlantic hurricanes on record.

Going forward due to all unknown best bet would be to concentrate on leads - Tina, Sheeba, Ohio, date of birth, NY name/link, her facial shape, facial acne and several dental fillings.

Here are the other recons from the Crimestoppers video.
For me it's useful to look at other recons to get an idea. Look at the way she wears the scarf...interesting because this is a totally other image then what I get from reading the description of her cloths.

Sorry, for showing the red line from the You-tube film.

Circumstances:
The victim's body was discovered on Tuesday, September 4, 1979, at 7:30 a.m., at the Biscayne Garden Apartments, 15555 N.W. 2 Avenue, Miami, lying near a garbage dumpster at the rear of the apartment complex.

The victim's body was discovered by residents of the apartment complex. It appears that the victim was killed at another location and dumped in the area where she was found.

In 2012 Crimestoppers produced a short video on the young unidentified woman. According to the documentation provided to detectives at that time she indicated her name as Faloan S. Love given a birth date of June 3rd, 1961. She indicated that she was unemployed and that she resided at the Young Apartments in Hollywood, FL. Her closet relative was a Ben Misa from Brooklyn, New York.

In 2014 LE was led to Ohio looking for a teenage runaway known as Tina with a nickname of “Sheeba”. The teenager had run away from Ohio sometime before 1977. It was noted by WDTN that leads were coming in on the murder mystery however as of to the young Miami Dade Jane Doe has yet to be identified.

IMO Note: Based on the Crime Stopper video and sketches the scarf may have been originally worn by the victim as a top. Then given the fact it was found around her neck it most likely was the item used to strangle her. Think the white t-shirt IMO was placed on her after death when transporting from where she was murdered to where she was found and could have possibly belong to her killer.

Thanks for your summery Folieadeux!

This is the only thread I have found mentioning Melissa Aurora Burgess. I see that she disappeared nearly 10 years after this Jane Doe was found.

Can anyone point me to information about Melissa? I can't seem to find anything about her disappearance.

I believe she resembles the woman in the polaroid that has been associated to the Tara Calico case.

Connections:
- Polaroid found in June/July 1989 in Port St. Joseph, FL
- Melissa went missing in St. Petersburg, FL on February 12, 1988

I do not mean to go off topic from this Jane Doe, however I'm posting here because I've found ZERO information on Melissa A. Burgess.

I also posted this in the Tara Calico thread with comparison pictures.

TIA if anyone can point me to the thread discussing the polaroid.

OT-OT-OT (sorry)I think there is no missing persons thread on Websleuths of Melissa so far I could see. I could only find a Namus file, you know it, nothing else so far.

Here is the tread about the Polaroid
