...snipped...After his father grabbed him by the collar and threatened to take his cross, that’s when Harrouff got aggressive and pinned his father to the booth before leaving without saying a word, she said.

Any idea what the bolded threat means? Grabbing AH by the collar in a public restaurant may have been the last straw. All those arguments they were having, and all these stories of odd behavior, yet no one got AH any professional help.

IMO, his father...:shakehead: is lucky
to be alive. :escape:

I just assumed it was a Christian cross on a chain but I don't have anything to base that on.

ETA: I agree his father is lucky. I've thought that since watching the video of their interaction in the garage.

This was probably posted earlier but I missed it.

"I'm so sick and tired of doing what I'm told," Harrouff had written in a note on his phone 10 days earlier, according to records of his phone. "I'm going to leave my mark before I get old."

Is there somewhere I can read/download all of the documents that have been released for free? The ones on scribd require that you pay for a subscription to read after the first 3 pages.

Thanks in advance.

Totally agree, Curious. These behaviors didn't appear overnight! I do believe he thought he was attacking his father.

I really don't understand the chewing off of human flesh without being under the influence of bath salts etc.
Why kind of psychological break could ever ever cause that? Has there ever been a case where this happened when the perp wasn't?

On top of that the super human strength and pain threshold. Makes no sense without salts

Shocking to think this could have been because of schizophrenia. According to his father his personality was completely changed in the two weeks prior. I wonder if some event happened to set him off. The articles I read said he is stable and responding to treatment. When that happens I always wonder how a trial can actually happen...

I am not certain of the actual consuming of somebody's flesh, but I have heard that many people who commit rape will bite their victims. In a number of cases, this is what will actually get them convicted.

Matthew Williams in Scotland suffered from schizophrenia. Police tazered him to try and get him off his victim, and the tazered killed him.

Another case, Anesson Joseph in Florida. Cops are quoted as saying he was obviously on some kind of drugs. They said tazers had no effect on him.

A naked man with "superhuman strength" was shot to death Tuesday night after assaulting a former police officer and biting part of a teenager's face off.

But he didn't have any drugs in his system.

Sheriff Ric Bradshaw has suggested Joseph's behavior may have been triggered by "excited delirium syndrome." The rare and frequently fatal medical condition impacts the brain, causing hallucinations and leading people on crazed attacks.

A toxicology report showed Joseph had no alcohol or drugs in his system aside from a seizure medication a medical examiner said did not explain his erratic behavior.

Vince Li randomly attacked the person next to him on the Greyhound Bus in Canada, and ate parts of him. He was suffering from schizophrenia and later said he thought the man was an alien. He was found not criminally responsible of the crime due to his mental illness.

McLean had his eyes closed and was listening to music on his headphones when Li suddenly stood up and started stabbing him. As the bus stopped and horrified passengers fled, Li carved up McLean's body, ate portions of it, and displayed the victim's head to some passengers outside the bus.

"He was on the lookout for aliens as such, and the voice of God told him that Tim McLean was an alien and he needed to destroy him lest Tim destroy other people," Summerville said.

Otty Sanchez in Texas killed, dismembered and partially ate her baby. She was found not guilty by reason of insanity. She said the devil made her do it.

She had schizophrenia and post-natal psychosis.

'The most common part of post-natal psychosis is the delusional thinking,' said Pesikoff. 'Often but not always, it encompasses some type of religious thought.'

The risk of developing post-natal psychosis is 50 per cent or higher for women with schizophrenia who are not taking medication, said Lucy Puryear, another psychiatrist who was involved in the Yates case.

'It's usually really severe,' said Puryear, who wrote the book, 'Understanding Your Moods When You're Expecting.'

'The scary thing is that the delusions are usually always about the baby,' she said. 'In all of the (high profile) cases, the thinking involves the babies: The mother had to kill the baby to protect it, or God has spoken to the mother and there is a mission to kill the baby or sometimes the baby is the devil who needs to be gotten rid of to save the world,' she said.

Alexander Kinyua killed his sleeping friend with an axe and then ate his heart. He was found not criminally responsible due to insanity.

a former Morgan State University student, pleaded guilty but not criminally responsible to first-degree murder in the 2012 killing. He had been released from jail just days before the killing on charges that he partially blinded a fellow student by hitting him with a baseball bat.

In that assault case, Kinyua also pleaded guilty and was found not criminally responsible. A judge in December agreed with a psychiatric assessment that determined Kinyua was suffering from paranoid schizophrenia at the time and believed reptilian aliens were going to destroy the Earth.

Officials released few specifics Monday about their assessment of his mental state at the time of the murder. After the hearing, Harford County State's Attorney Joseph I. Cassilly said the state found he was not in control of his actions in the murder case and that he had no option but to accept that conclusion.

Kinyua initially denied knowing anything about his roommate’s death, but eventually led authorities to a church dumpster where he’d hidden most of the body...

The murder was the end of a violent period for Kinyua. A photo posted on an Internet radio site shows him with face painted in camouflage. He ranted on Facebook about “human sacrifices"...

Richard Chase had schizophrenia and believed that aliens were turning his blood into powder. To stay alive, he had to kill people and drink their blood.

Even before Chase began killing, he exhibited signs of mental illness so striking, that even an untrained person would likely call him crazy. Here are a few things Chase believed about himself, and in some cases, attempted to correct about himself: He believed his blood was turning to powder; he believed his pulmonary artery had been stolen; he believed standing on his head would help his condition; and at times, he’d take the extra step of placing orange slices in a towel and wrap the towel around his head. Richard Chase very much believed he needed to do these things to remain alive. Where Chase differs from the killer described above is that he possessed enough reality to conceal his crimes, fully understanding that murder is against the norms of society. In other words, Chase worked to avoid detection, and despite whatever mental illnesses were present within him, he would be declared mentally ill but legally sane.

Saverio Bellante killed his landlord during a game chess:

The court heard Mr Bellante saw Mr O’Gorman as the Devil whereas he was Jesus Christ and he proceeded to stab him four or five times with a knife.

Mr Bellante was admitted to the Central Mental Hospital on January 14th, 2015 and was diagnosed with schizophrenia....

He had a belief that killing Mr O’Gorman and eating his heart would put an end to evil in the world,” said Dr Monks.

Dr Monks told the jury as a result of his schizophrenia Mr Bellante didn’t know the nature and quality of the act he carried out.

“Why he knew to kill a man was wrong in the eyes of the law, he thought what he was doing was right and entirely justified so he was unable to reason outside of his psychotic thought processes and he didn’t know what he doing was morally wrong,” added the witness.

Peter Bryan, England:

Described by his barrister as a "victim" of the mental health system, Bryan admitted to psychiatrists that the "voodoo ritual" of eating human flesh gave him a "quickening" feeling, transferring energy from the people he killed...

But the court heard that Bryan, who had paranoid schizophrenia and a personality disorder, had repeatedly fooled doctors because of his ability to remain calm and appear normal...

Bryan was given two life sentences and told that life would mean life. Judge Giles Forrester said: "You killed on these last two occasions because it gave you a thrill and a feeling of power when you ate flesh. Although substantially impaired, you do of course bear criminal responsibility. The violence on each occasion was extreme and unpredictable, accompanied by bizarre and sexual overtones."

Relatives of Bryan and his victims said the mental health system was to blame for the two latest deaths.

Haha :) Let me just point out that most people with schizophrenia are never violent at all, and are more likely to be the victims of violence than commit acts of violence. But sometimes, when someone's brain goes haywire, it goes *really* haywire, and if that person isn't getting proper treatment and medication then tragedies can occur. Imagine having a bad trip on hallucinogenic drugs - except you've never taken drugs, your brain just has a defect that causes this to happen randomly. No wonder schizophrenia has such a high suicide rate .

Just looking at those other cases I posted about, it looks like the bizarre violent schizophrenic episodes are often associated with religious ideas (God/ the devil told me to do it), with good vs evil (I had to do it to save the world from evil aliens), or with believing that eating people gives you power or keeps you alive.
