Why is Michael Dippolito being questioned about his criminal past? Its almost like he is on trial.

Ohh I think I know why. Its to explain that Dalia stole money from him.

Dalia Dippolito's third trial to open Thursday after four days of jury selection

June 7, 2017

[...]

Opening statements are set for 8:30 a.m. Thursday in a retrial expected to take at least seven days.

Jury selection took four days, as the lawyers and Palm Beach County Circuit Judge Glenn Kelley questioned 300 people about their ability to serve and their knowledge of Dalia Dippolito, 34.

[...]

The prosecutors have said they intend to add evidence they left out of the last trial, including a video of Dippolito being interrogated at the police station and an allegation that she tried to steal a gun as part of her murder planning.

They are also expected to call Michael Dippolito to testify against his ex-wife. He took the witness stand during the first trial and said there was no plan to get on reality TV. Dippolito didn’t testify during the second trial.

Dalia Dippolito has been on house arrest at her mother’s Boynton Beach home for most of the past eight years. Last year, her lawyers announced she had given birth to a baby boy. Kelley has forbidden the defense from mentioning her motherhood in court again.

I watched Michael's testimony yesterday. I thought he made a great witness and it was strange they didn't call him for the 2nd trial. I like the fact that he answers whatever questions he's asked and doesn't dance around them. He admits he had a shady past but he seems to own up to what he's done. The trial is being live streamed if anyone is interested.

Im just catching up on this trial, was Mike Dipolitto hiding money through Dahlia by having her put it in a Cayman island bank ? I didnt get a clear understanding of the 191K that was owed to his victims and how he was telling this story. He said she was to pay 91K and he would pay 100K by having her save it in her bank. It just sounded fishy to me and I wondered if there was some shennigans going on with his knowledge at that time. It appears she stole his 100K and then got another 30K by some scam involving her friends Eric and his wife, it was very confusing to me so I wonder what the jury thought of that ?

Also they are now asking him about him asking Dahlia to sign back over the deed to his house, well I didnt hear him explain why he transfered the house to her in the 1st place. so im confused about that too.

Just FYI, we are all in the wrong business if you can make the kind of money he made sending out blast emails for companies- geesh lol

Ah oh he didnt report all his income - here comes the IRS and they will take that condo...

ok nevermind on cross he fessed up geesh still a white collar criminal even though Dahlia IMO is much much worse.

That's the thing you have to give him credit for---he fesses up to what he's done. Even when he was charged for the crimes he did time for, he just pleaded guilty because he knew he had done the crimes. And when asked if he was squirreling away money so he wouldn't have to pay his victims back any faster than he was required to, ( he had to reimburse them for what he had taken plus pay the money they were awarded in the civil trial--so basically they were paid twice--and he's paid in full to them now) he admitted that too.

The thing that really gets me about Dalia's defense is---she said absolutely NOTHING when she was arrested, to the cops or to Michael, about this whole thing being for a reality TV show. Nothing. Not one word. The first thing out of her mouth when she saw that Michael was alive should have been: " Mike, tell them this was for a reality TV show, like we planned!!!" She never said anything like that. Now, why would that be? Because it wasn't---that's why.

I fear jury tampering by her or her team. I can see an assistant following a juror (male, ) and anonymously proposing to vote not guilty with either sexual favors or some other compensation. I'm dead serious. This team and her are not going to lose this case. They will do anything and i mean anything to not have that. You watch. I really want to contact prosecutors office and tell them to monitor everything as far as juror tampering. She is NOT going to leave that kid she just have and she will do anything it takes, to not have that. Shes clearly comfortable breaking the law, she's manipulative to a pathological degree and the shenanigans her defense team have pulled thus far dont preclude some thing nefarious happeneing. Isn't it ironic they abandoned their defense plan over the weekend? What happened over the weekend i wonder? Maybe they were able to get a juror on board.

I remember watching Stephanie Slater (the police public information officer) in the last trial. There is something rather unlikeable about her.

State springs surprise move to tell jury Dalia Dippolito tried to poison husband

Updated: 2:14 PM EDT Jun 15, 2017

In a surprise twist in the Dalia Dippolito murder-for-hire retrial, prosecutors said they now planned to ask a defense witness about his claim that Dippolito once tried to poison her husband with anti-freeze.

The defense argued strenuously that presenting the claim would lead to a conviction, and undo their entire defense.

[...]

This shows motive and intent, and I’m definitely going to ask him (informant Mohamed Shihadeh) about it,” said [Prosecutor Craig] Williams.

Judge Glenn Kelley agreed “It’s definitely relevant.”

[...]

The defense also called the maneuver “sandbagging” because the prosecution never objected prior to trial to their motion to keep out the poisoning allegations.

Kelley shrugged aside the argument that the move was last minute, but said he was not going to “shoot from the hip,” and said he would decide sometime during the day.

Former lover turned informant tells jury Dalia Dippolito wanted to poison husband

June 15, 2017

A bombshell of evidence dropped Thursday during day six of Dalia Dippolito’s murder for hire re-trail. Her former lover, turned police informant, told jurors during cross examination that Dippolito spoke to him about poisoning her husband. “Did Ms. Dippolito speak to you about poisoning her husband?” the prosecutor asked. “Yes,” Mohamed Shihadeh said.

This came after the defense’s key witness, Shihadeh, also told jurors that Dippolito did in fact ask him to help her find a hitman. “Did she ask you in March of 2009 if you knew somebody that she could hire to kill her husband? Yes.”

Hmmm. I'm thinking the live stream I'm watching during the day isn't live stream at all since the info that you have is different from what I'm seeing. Do you happen to have a link to the trial that's live streaming? What I'm watching must be from the last trial.

I haven't been able to watch, but I believe this is a link to a livestream of this trial:

Here's a link to the testimony today (after a heated back and forth between the judge and the defense)

Could someone please give a brief explanation of what happened between the Judge and Defense?! Thnak you.

Wow.....hope it sticks. I bet the 8 years of home confinement will lessen her sentence.

Could someone please give a brief explanation of what happened between the Judge and Defense?! Thnak you.

The Defense wanted the judge to not allow the prosecution to bring up Dalia trying to poison Mike with antifreeze when they did their cross of MS. The judge said it all depended on what MS said during his testimony whether it would be allowed in or not. The Defense wouldn't take no for an answer an kept arguing with him and it got really heated.

I see there's a guilty verdict!!! That's the fastest deliberation I've ever seen!! Barely time to select a foreperson and vote. Excellent outcome.

If you fast forward to the 4:30 mark, the judge reads the verdict.

Sentencing is scheduled for July 21st at 1:30pm.

The defense asked that she be allowed to remain out of jail on house arrest until the sentencing since she's shown up for all of her court dates, isn't a danger to anyone, and has a small child at home.

The Judge said "No, she's now a convicted felon"

She was handcuffed and led out of the courtroom.
