So is the only way to get updates on the Appellate case is to pay/request from the court?

There aren't documents on the site, and I haven't looked into how to obtain. Still not scheduled, and heard from a fellow member that appeals can take many years when they do this stand your ground appeal (which is nothing more than a delay tactic, obviously MOO). As of today, in the Direct Case link for the Court of Appeal / Appellate Court - no updates still since March of this year.

I actually went and subscribed to his Patreon after watching those videos. Adding this case to ones that I'm "following" on here in addition to Linda Stolzfoos (sp?), and Chad and Lori.

I see you've mentioned several times that you have notes on documents, I'm curious, do you keep handwritten notes or do you keep a doc on your phone/computer?

I have a chronic nerve pain disease so I am home all day (even pre-COVID times, lol), and I've been debating "studying" some cases and taking notes. I've been trying to follow Chad and Lori but I'm not 100% familiar with all the names and going-ons in their lives. I was thinking of maybe starting with that. Once people start using initials especially on Reddit, I get all confused. (mods, please modsnip the name of Reddit if it's against TOS I can't remember >.<)

Sorry to hear you have chronic pain, that is awful. For the Chad and Lori case, go to the first post on each thread and there is a link to abbreviations of who's who in the case, and also to media thread, and another link for the timeline ONLY (I would start with that as members have REALLLLLY done a great job keeping it up on that VERY complex case)

I just checked the appellate court where this case will sit until heard and decided (as to his being denied having the ability to claim self defense, which he has done just to delay his trial for years MOO)

Two district courts in the past year have given differing opinions in the ongoing "discussions" of how to interpret the stand your ground - so perhaps that is going to tie it up even longer if the district courts have to push it up to the Florida Supreme Court due to differing opinions.

Wash/rinse/repeat.... this is going to be a long time to trial MOO

Thanks @Niner, I'll look tomorrow afternoon for update.

I did find something that has been added to the files since the last hearing. Oh dear, and it does seem that it may have some basis. They are wanting to exclude all information from his phone as they state warrants were not performed correctly nor phone obtained correctly. (He didn't have on his person when arrested, the police went back to Outback to get the phone..........without a search warrant for the phone).

Attached is a 3 page PDF and screenshots also.

Very concerning indeed if all his data from his phone is kicked... as that could potentially lead to more getting excluded if fruit from the poisonous tree so to speak.

A doctrine that extends the exclusionary rule to make evidence inadmissible in court if it was derived from evidence that was illegally obtained. As the metaphor suggests, if the evidential "tree" is tainted, so is its "fruit." The doctrine was established in 1920 by the decision in Silverthorne Lumber Co........
