Thanks! That makes sense - if you use lighter fluid or spread gasoline around guess they could trace that. Do you know what else LE would call soot?
No, sorry, I don't. The distinction I tend to make is ashes are white and heavier than the thick black soot that sticks to everything during a fire. That soot is sticky and very hard to completely remove, and yet the slightest brush against it and it will transfer readily.

If my daughter ever goes missing, I will not be the one to call her father. Nope, the screaming about what a stupid (insert 4 or 5 letter word here) I am for letting it happen would be enough to deter me. I would not only let the police notify him, i would beg them to be the one's that did it. Let them take the abuse.

Soot reminds me of the black powder they use for finger printing at crime scenes...

If any of those boards were burned but were able to save due to not much damage then I am sure a lot of soot was every where.. this was talked about before ST mentioned the soot on ng.. its common sense a fire makes soot and common sense that little somer could have skin or other dna on her from the crime scene..

Maybe that one person was at the house to give estimate on sealing the house of soot... saw the school close or even saw the kids walking and gave him ideas..

This happened on monday.. I feel this person thought of this all weekend.. but thats just me.. he fantasies got the best of him all week end. sorry just I have always felt this since the house was on media..

jmo tho..

Hi everyone

one thing that has been bothering me.......has it been confirmed that somer was sexually assaulted???

everyone is assuming that she was abducted or is a victim of a child sex offender or maybe been sexually assaulted by someone she knows.....

do you think that this is the way the police are thinking or has it been confirmed that she was murdered\

maybe it was some form of accident and someone has panicked hence ending up in a dumpster......so many times these really are tragic accidents......

like maybe being hit by a car and driver panicked or mum or sister of kid she had a fight with confronted her on the way home and somer hit her head on ground or something and they have panicked.....

or she home and had some form of accident and the sean guy panicked.....or big brother met up with her and they had a fight and she hit her head etc etc etc......

Is the burned house finished with the renovations now, or are they still ongoing? I know it's been released to the owners, but what I'm not sure about is if it's occupied yet. Just curious what stage it was in on 10/19 and if soot was still present. MOO

Now ST doing his stints is a whole different story.. at pattyg you tube there are all kinds of videos of the father.... all is coming from his own mouth....

pattyg's you tube .... http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=Sierra1947#g/u

all the news stations in jacksonville,fl have video of father also talking .. google will find them ..
bbm... I don't see anything hinky with the father's interviews. my opinion and observation only

It would be nice if the labs came back with a good print to match somebody that is already in the system. We can still hope...

My bet is still on CWG & has been (hope I got those initials in right order but you know). I don't suspect anyone in the family BUT I do not fault anyone for analyzing or looking in that direction that is common sense to look there first statistically speaking! When a child is missing everyone is a suspect & to uphold a parent above suspicion does no justice for the missing child. Thankfully the cops know statistics or most cases would never be solved! For me that family member are not fitting in this case as suspects. We are never all going to agree...that is a given & I respect everyone's opinion (if they say it nicely lol) even if they differ from my own.

Hope Halloween has been a safe one!

There is no drywall up yet, just the 2x4 studs.

You got me to thinking, maybe it was someone who had gone to the house to give a bid on some part of the job.

quote=MommaD;4369985]I had an ex- husband that was given choice of going in military or prison.. which do you think he chose.. yep military.. only stayed in 2 yrs but he didn't go to prison.. back 30 yrs ago they did this in the courts.. just a lot of ppl don't know about it...

Also,, we don't know how long ST was over Iraq or in service.. I am sure this could be found.. hmmmm I might have to do some digging..

please, don't think I don't honor our men and women in the military.. I honor them very highly.. My father was pow for 1 1/2 yrs in Korea and my dh was in and so was my uncles and brothers..

That said again military people are human just like us and make mistakes just like us and like LE or doctors , teachers etccc..[/quote]
I agree with you. I am stationed at Fort Leavenworth afterall...where the daddy of all military prisons is situated.

Yes military people are not above the law and break it as well. But I am confused. Do you think that Somer's father committed some crime here?

Hi there nurseeee! When dad was telling NG how helpless he felt being confined to a wheel chair - how helpless he felt that he couldn't just get up and go help LE find his daughter, my heart went out to him. Talk about being trapped! mho

What the sheriff said sounds to me like it definitely wasn't an accident, and definitely wasn't a family member. I don't know of LE saying things like this when they suspect an accident as a possibility, or suspect a family member. I am thinking that Somer was likely sexually assaulted.

"Sheriff Rick Beseler wants people in Clay County to know there is reason to be “vigilant and careful” until the person responsible for the murder of 7-year-old Somer Thompson is found.

“There’s someone out there, and there’s nothing to guarantee that won’t happen again,” Beseler said after a news conference on Wednesday, Oct. 28. “We don’t know if we have another Ted Bundy out there.”

More about the soot and exactly what Somer's dad said, from Nancy Grace 10/29 show. :)

GRACE: To Samuel Thompson joining us tonight. This is Somer`s father. Samuel, what are police telling you about that vacant home?

S. THOMPSON: Well, they`re not telling me a lot. I was told that there was some soot found on her, on Somer and.

GRACE: Soot?

S. THOMPSON: Soot, you know, from -- it was a burned-out house.

GRACE: Yes.

S. THOMPSON: And I was told one time that they found some soot that possibly came from that house. That she may have been in there. But other than that, you know, the information that they`re putting out over the air is the same information that they`re giving me. You know ? If they had more information, they can`t just put it out there.

Thanks, now I can rule out fireplaces, grills, fields etc.

Seems LE said it was from the burnt out house - now I'm wondering if the soot was found on her body or in her lungs or both. My gosh, this poor child!

I agree with you. But does scrutinizing her clothing at the funeral help any? This is Florida and a lot of women wear sleeveless shirts or dresses to funerals. I thought her dress covered all of important parts and still allowed her to be more comfortable in the heat. I don't see how judging her for her choice of attire helps in any way do you? Maybe I missed something. I see nothing at all that would lead me to believe that DT harmed her daughter or that she was complicit in any way. Just my own opinion and thoughts.

1. Where I live, only level 3 SO's are required to register- Those most likely to re offend. Then we have community notification. They usually end up in the poorest of neighborhoods. So they are quite concentrated in areas. So there are plenty of SO's out there that people don't know about.

2. I live in a rural area right outside a larger city-not that big of a city. We received the first ever notification this summer that we were to get an RSO. I was very amazed because we have almost no rentals ,and I do live in a more expensive area to live, although we do have some fairly poor people interspersed that have lived here a long time. I couldn't even imagine a relative would take an RSO in.

Right before the night of the community notification night, the LE from the bigger city notified us that the RSO had given them a fake address, and they didn't know where he was. They did not even check to see, obviously, where he was going before they let him out!

2. On the community notification flier, it says that no one is allowed to hassle the RSO. Community notification is a privilege that has been granted by the courts and could be taken away so leave the RSO alone. (paraphrased)UGH!

3. I have a VERY close connection to a person who works as a counselor in a facility that contains the civilly committed RSO's. That means that they are considered to be too dangerous to be let out after they serve their prison term. I asked her if they look weird. Could you recognize one? She said that except for a couple, they do look weird, but that might be because she knows them. She also said that most had not been sexually abused, but rather physically and emotionally abused. Interesting.

She also said that not one of them feels that they have done anything wrong, and they blame others that they are in prison or in this facility. So far, not one has ever made it through counseling back into society. Thank God!

4. I have known a couple of SO's-not because they are friends or even acquaintances. Yes, I believe that there are signs that these guys are creepy. I think that they do exhibit signs. Even Ted Bundy did weird things to his girlfriend, so I think people should be looking for stuff that is off about people they know. Unfortunately, that results in a lot of leads to police that are nothing because people want to be helpful. They have to wade through a lot of irrelevant stuff. Some of it easy to dismiss, fortunately.
