The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is upgrading its missing child alert to an Amber Alert for missing 5-year-old Taylor Rose Williams, who was last seen in the Brentwood area Wednesday morning.
FDLE, however, has not upgraded its missing child alert and told First Coast News that it is working with JSO at this time.
AMBER ALERT: Hundreds searching for missing 5-year-old Jacksonville child
Amber Alert issued for missing 5-year-old Florida girl who was last seen in her bedroom
Very confusing. We all know that an Amber Alert cannot be issued unless there is a suspect vehicle or other credible evidence that she is in or was in a moving vehicle? All these news orgs are saying police have issued one and yet, she is not listed with FDLE as having an amber alert, just a missing child alert and she is of course not listed on Missingkids.org as an amber alert.
Watching to see how this case develops. Unusual that she was just, there in her room at midnight and poof not in the morning.
She was reported missing at 7:22 this morning per
this presser Wondering what time she was first noted as missing and how long adults looked around the general vicinity and house before placing that call.
ETA she has now been listed as an
amber alert via FDLE
Here are
their criteria
FDLE says to activate an AMBER alert, five criteria must be met:
- The child must be under 18 years of age.
- There must be a clear indication of an abduction.
- The law enforcement agency's preliminary investigation must conclude that the child's life is in danger.
- There must be a detailed description of child, abductor and/or vehicle to broadcast to the public.
- The activation must be recommended by the local law enforcement agency of jurisdiction
minor child - check
clear indication of abduction - unknown
LE feels she is in danger - check due to her age it is presumed she is not safe
Detailed description of Child, abductor and/or a suspect vehicle - we've got description of child but neither of the other two items that we know of
activation by LE in jurisdiction - check
