ETA: One police officer "slightly" wounded for certain as updated by French TV. Also, the French TV station confirms that the current situation/persons "holed up" in St. Denis apartment is directly connected to search for the 9th terrorist involved in Paris attacks. They are referring to the police preparing to do an "intervention" in the apartment building/area. Evolving situation so French TV will update as they get new information.

When I read threads like this, I get the sense that many people would like to do something to make the situation better. I have a few tips.

First, just do the good things that you always do. Be vigilant. Give blood. Be kind to strangers. Volunteer your time, or donate money. Help a friend or a neighbor.

Second, and this is the most important thing -- go about your life as you usually do. Groups like ISIL/ISIS/IS are called terrorists because the points on the scoreboard that matter to them are the number of souls they terrify/scare. If you act like you are scared of what is to come, you let them win. And really, you have no rational need to fear them. You're more likely to be killed in a car accident on the way to church than you are to be killed by them. Heck, you're more likely to be killed by a moose or a racoon than you are to be killed by ISIL.

These groups traffic in fear. Their biggest weapons are not guns or bombs, but the media, and the fear that people in safe places feel when they hear scary things. So, if you want to beat them, stop being scared of them.

I don't find that violent imagery at all. All they are doing is walking and taking off blindfolds, which to me is symbolic of a truth or not denying something. So I searched for a translation. As it turns out they are Palistinians living in Jordan.

It is believed the mastermind of the Paris attacks, Abdelhamid Abaaoud is the person in the apartment. The apartment is near the stadium in the northern Paris suburb of Saint-Denis.

Abdelhamid Abaaoud, in his late 20s, is believed to be close to ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, and is probably the link between the senior ISIS leadership and ISIS operatives in Europe, European counterterrorism officials have said.

Had to switch off CNN .. too many inane quesions and commentary .. on Sky now, 3 dead, one passerby, two in apartment, one woman, one man. Hopefully the mastermind is one of the dead, sounds like it.

They asked on CNN why so many ambulances, I'd wager it's because they're concerned there is the possibility of an explosion?

At least two terror suspects have reportedly been killed, three other suspects have been taken into custody and two police officers have been injured in the anti-terror operation north of Paris.

According to French media reports, a woman with a suicide belt was one of the terrorists that was killed during the raid.

This was the result of one of the administrative searches. The two police officers weren't expecting to be fired upon. Then the Red Team?? or some SWAT type thing was called.

Administrative searches outside of those normal hours (6 am to 9 pm) extended due to State of Em. They seem to have stumbled upon them who may be directly related or AA himself.

witness audio: Heard an explosion about 20 minutes ago. Woke up around 4:30 am, thought dreaming. Thought ppl were drunk, then realized [?not firecracker? not sure], alerted flat mates.

Police army heavy presence. People used to chaos, were just... even from early on, quiet calm, running into to street to watch, police asked to leave.

Very surprised AA is here on spot in France. Remember the Syrian passport. Taken into consideration: very organized, woman suicide bomber involved, to understand, taken seriously. If we keep thinking they don't have the means to act we can't stop it.

Heavily armed police started running towards something or some one. Moment of panic. Police in chase heard on police radio, according to passerby. May have been a false alarm according to one official.

May be locking down schools in the area. Transport closed. People being asked to stay away from the scene and inside their homes in the area.

Red Cross official said Psych care will be available for all those touched by this in the area at City Hall.

Near the ring road not far from the stadium.

Saint-Denis has 40,000 people who have been asked to stay inside.


Though AA is the target of this particular search, it may be accomplices holed, not yet known.

Everything is closed down.

15 people evac'd to City Hall, quite traumatized, devastating moments.

One individual still holed up in the flat, not known how long, still cordoned.



Wassim N: Not yet any confirmation yet that he is in this spot. Be careful with info, wait for confirmation. He's from Belg, an operator, French speaking, maybe knew Paris, because of this he was handed this operation, not a mastermind.

Why here?:

Do not jump to any conclusions about neighborhoods. They could just as easily have been anywhere else. It means that they [unprepared/worried missed it] to be the run. They had a plan B. The guys behind it planned it ahead of time. They are where we least expected them. All those places even if the. [missed some]

Imagine, nowadays, it's not the same as 80's or 90's. There's no real incitement in the open, rather it's being done in places that are unknown. They are here for practical reasons not to make a statement. The organization tries to stay under the radar on the run. Maybe to be on the run for practical reasons more than anything else. Police found them rather quickly.

They can use game consoles. they use many applications, they don't pick up the phone. [ missed some] before telephone comm caught [missed some]. They learned to communicate about timing with each other at the stadium to coordinate with each the attacks/groups who were able to attack in Paris. [Even though they failed at the stadium, to be inside, they held out to help with the timing in Paris.]

If you get them alive you can get a lot of information, 7 of them blew themselves up, very defiant against their own country. All are exposed.

There were shots, explosions. We didn’t know where to go. My son and I were in panic. There was dust falling from the ceiling because of the explosions. I kept shouting ‘If you’re from the police, please help me. I’m here with my baby.’
