http://news.yahoo.com/hungarys-pm-orban-says-eu-revamp-founding-treaties-074256690--business.html

BUDAPEST (Reuters) - Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban on Friday said it was high time the European Union reconsidered the basic parameters binding it together, then revamp its founding treaties, or face political radicalization across the continent.

Orban has been at odds with Brussels ever since coming to power in 2010, and recently became an outspoken critic of the EU's handling of the migration crisis and other challenge

He said after last week's Paris attacks by Islamist gunmen, some of whom were believed to have traveled to fight in Syria, there was no reason to doubt that there was link between immigration and terrorism, even if EU leaders were reluctant to accept it.

If the bloc did not face up to facts, voters would turn to parties that do, Orban said.

"Under such circumstances support keeps growing for radical, extremist, off-mainstream political forces that question the current European system but call a spade a spade."

Well done, Amsterdam! NOT!

http://news.yahoo.com/brussels-metro-closed-due-terror-alert-network-074450730.html

In Turkey, police arrested a Belgian of Moroccan origin in connection with the Paris attacks in the resort of Antalya, the site of this week's G20 summit, along with two other suspects, probably Syrians.

Ahmet Dahmani, 26, is accused of helping to scout the Paris attacks and then preparing to illegally cross the Turkish-Syrian border to rejoin IS after arriving in Turkey from Amsterdam on his Belgian passport.

Read and weep.

I think the important discussion to get back to here is: Who is funding, supplying and arming this group of mercenaries and why?

Salah Abdeslam skyped his friends asking for help to get to Syria

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/wor...t-attack-170-hostages-Paris-Belgium-live.html

So much for him reportedly fearing ISIL due to "chickening out" then? If he wants to escape to Syria he can't fear them surely.

Hope for an arrest imminently , if he is Skyping they will surely be able to locate him by cell towers?
It says he is in the Brussels area so maybe someone there is harbouring him........

ETA _ update from an hour later
"The friends, who have spoken anonymously to ABC News, said that Abdeslam had called them on Tuesday evening and told them he was caught between the extensive police search and local Islamic State members who were “watching him”, apparently unhappy that he had failed to detonate his suicide vest after the attacks in Paris.

According to ABC’s report:

Abdeslam insisted he played only a minor role in the attacks, but his friends said they doubted his claim of innocence. His brother told ABC News that Abdeslam was “manipulated” by the attack mastermind, Abdelhamid Abaaoud, killed in a police raid Thursday in France. Abaaoud and Abdeslam were childhood friends and were arrested when caught in a robbery in 2010, according to an Abaaoud family attorney.
The claims appear to chime with a statement made earlier today by a lawyer for Hamza Attou, one of two suspects charged this week by Belgian authorities for allegedly helping Abdeslam return to the country after the attacks.

She said her client had told her that Abdeslam had appeared agitated in the car as they travelled back to Belgium, and that he was wearing a bulky jacket that could have been hiding an explosives belt"

OK now I get why they need 1-1 searches of flats in Molenbeek - they haven't a clue who the real residents are....

"Belgian interior minister wants door-to-door search of Molenbeek
Jan Jambon, the Belgian interior minister, announced he wants a house-to-house search of every address in Molenbeek to see who is living there, noting that some addresses with two registered inhabitants have 10 people there.
The Brussels district of Molenbeek was the focus of police raids last week after the Paris attacks, and Mr Jambon said that out of 130 jihadists known to have returned from Syria, 85 are in the tiny commune of Molenbeek.
He said: "In my opinion, the municipal administration must go and knock on every door and ask who actually lives there."
"It is unacceptable that we do not know who is living in the commune", he added.
By law in Belgium, you have to register your address with the commune when you move house and put your name on the doorbell. Police will then come to establish the people who live there are registered."

Was a shabby one-room flat with its windows covered up with newspapers where an imminent terror attack on Brussels was being planned?, asks Rory Mulholland.
Police would not confirm that the apartment they raided on Friday led the government to suddenly place the city on maximum terror alert and shut down the metro system.
But Belgian media said assault rifles and ammunition had been found in the second-floor flat in Molenbeek, the district of the Belgian capital where the Paris attacks were planned

STILL NOT SHARING INTELLIGENCE - point scoring from Turkey or poor intell again by Belgians?( The arrest of the suspected target spotter in Antalya Turkey)

Turkish security forces arrested Ahmad Dahmani, who is 26 and of Moroccan origin, at a luxury hotel in Antalya, along with two others. All three have appeared in court and remain in custody.

“We believe that Dahmani was in contact with the terrorists who perpetrated the Paris attacks,” a statement from Turkish officials said. “We were able to confirm that Dahmani arrived from Amsterdam on November 14, 2015. There is no record of the Belgian authorities having warned Turkey about Dahmani – which is why there was no entry ban.

“The police apprehended Dahmani based on intelligence gathered by the Turkish intelligence. We haven’t been able to confirm that the security forces worked with our allies in this operation.”

A Turkish official said: “The Turkish security forces dealt a major blow to ISIS by arresting Ahmad Dahmani and his accomplices. Intelligence sharing is absolutely necessary if the international community wants to combat terrorism.

“Had the Belgian authorities alerted us in due time, Dahmani could have been apprehended at the airport. We urge our allies to continue sharing information with us. Either way, we are pleased to see that three terrorists have been brought to justice. This is what matters today.”

This guy only got off the plane on Tues 14th Nov - presuming Belgians would not have known. OR was he also on a terror list already? In which case, he would have just been waved through all?
He departed Amsterdam Airport for Turkey 14th, day after Paris attacks. Report says he is a Belgian national so will have had a Euro passport and been waved through.
ALL RIDICULOUS ...and they still want a min-schengen incl. Belgium and Amsterdam

......silent walk to support freedom and peace and against barbarism, and misconceptions in Toulouse

Apparently the Parisians have been frustrated that they cannot really march, unlike after Hebdo, due to the state of emergency banning big deomos

So citizens of Toulous have done so for them today
More than 10,000 people marched in the French city of Toulouse for peace and against "barbarity", a week after the devastating attacks in the capital left 130 people dead.
The march is the second this week in the southwestern city while thousands have taken to the streets in other parts of France to express their solidarity with grieving Paris.
In the capital, where more than 1.5 million marched after the January attacks by Islamist gunmen against Charlie Hebdo magazine and a Jewish supermarket, public gatherings have been banned.
Police surrounded the march in Toulouse as residents braved an icy wind to march under a banner reading: "For freedom and peace, against barbarity and conflation."
The march took place largely in silence.

We've heard that Frontex are "useless " on the forum......but ... it seems no one at the top was listening again

Frontex the European border agency warned more than 18 months ago that radicalised European jihadis could exploit the migrant crisis in order to return to Europe and commit terrorism, but systematic checks on migrants only began last Friday,

the failure of Europe’s border bureaucracy to respond to the terror threat emerged as security sources told The Sunday Telegraph that it will still be “months, even years” before Europe’s borders are fully capable of screening arrivals.
Frontex’s own risk assessment for April 2014 said that the numbers of foreign fighters travelling to Syria and Iraq for jihad had “risen threefold”, with some would-be fighters as young 15 years old.

“FRONTEX, as an EU agency, has no access to this kind of operational intelligence,’ he admitted, “This may be why we cannot trace evidence of people who might be involved in terrorist activities.

US military personnel ordered to stay away from Brussels

The US European Command has issued a 72-hour travel restriction on travel to Brussels by all American military personnel as well as civilian Pentagon employees, contractors and command-sponsored family members and dependents.
The command said in a notice posted on Saturday that "for those already in Brussels, everyone is to shelter in place and remain at home".
Brussels is home to the political and administrative headquarters of Nato, while its military command, officially known as Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe, is about 45 miles to the south, at Casteau near Mons.

Speaking of Israel, when Syria is safe again, perhaps it can be to Muslims what Israel is to Jews?
The country will have many work opportinities as structures will have to be rebuilt and an endless list of everyday commodities replaced. The monies spent to support the migrants and refugees now and in the forseeable future, can be diverted to helping the people resettle in Syria.
speculation, imo.

Or those re-building jobs just go to foreign contractors- can't help but be cynical.

Not in my name'
Hundreds of Muslims living in Italy have demonstrated in Rome and Milan against the abuse of Islam by those who carried out the attacks in Paris and Mali.
In Rome, hundreds gathered at the central Piazza Santi Apostoli chanting "no to terrorism" and holding banners reading "Not in My Name." In Milan about 500 demonstrated in Piazza San Babila with banners reading "Stop Terrorism" and "Terrorism has No Religion."
Yahya Sergio Yahe Pallavicini, vice president of the Islamic Religious Community of Italy, said in Rome that the demonstrators wanted to show a message of unity "of the healthy and predominant part of Islam in Italy" and distance themselves "clearly and vocally, from any abuse of our religion by criminals."
The number of Muslims in predominantly Roman Catholic Italy is estimated at 1.7 million

Every little helps?
