"The procuror will not held a press conference, and unless NL's lawyer decides to speak the content of today's hearing will not be disclosed"

Well I'm HOPING it's bad news for NL!

Hopefully we'll hear more in the coming days. And they probably didn't give a date for next hearing either!!

"Nordahl Lelandais, who confessed in mid-February to having "accidentally" killed little Maëlys at the end of August in Isère, began to "provide explanations" to the investigating judges who questioned him on Monday, March 19, according to the prosecution. His hearing, which began around 10 a.m., ended at 5 p.m. "

A lot longer than the last (ten-minute) hearing...

"Nordahl Lelandais provides explanations that are his," AFP was told by the prosecution in the early afternoon, before the end of the hearing. "We have to reserve these explanations for the victim's parents and confront them (NL's explanations) with the case file." The three investigating judges "still have a number of questions to ask him, and that can last until he is fed up." If he wants to speak, we must first listen to him. He is making his statements, afterwards we will see what corresponds to the file or what seems remote from it, " continued the prosecution.

It seems nobody will be talking about what was said today.

I do not think a lot will be said now, out of respect for Maëlys parents to begin with, and also to avoid prejudicing the future jurors.

Not sure the court will find unprejudiced jurors though.

While I would love to hear what he finally had to say I totally respect her family and I’m glad they are finally getting answers that they so deserve.

"A judicial source in the courthouse in Grenoble has made it clear that Nordahl Lelandais has begun to provide his own explanations, and the three magistrates in charge of questioning have listened carefully, without interrupting."

"This is of course a method to get him to come out of his silence, to speak more and more, but in no way does it mean they are taking his word for it," says the reporter. "He claims that Maëlys was accidentally killed, so he is asked to report on this accident, but at a different, later time, he will be confronted with the elements collected by the investigators, the charges collected in the file. We will push him to his limits." The goal: to reach, finally, the manifestation of the truth, and to know the exact circumstances of Maëlys' death.

NL's phone also pinged in Chambéry the day Adrien F.'s phone last pinged there. I guess that's not a huge coincidence after all, since NL did live there at the time.

In the video clip, the reporter states that not only was NL's phone also in Chambéry that day, but that there was a bank transaction (NL withdrew some money) that occurred there that same day.

"Le meurtrier présumé de Maëlys aurait été borné dans la ville le même jour."

"This is particularly the case of Adrien Fiorello, 22, who according to our information was in Chambéry the day of his disappearance, October 6, 2010. The alleged murderer of Maëlys was borné (his phone pinged?) in the city the same day. In all, verifications are in progress in about fifteen cases."

Darn - I too would like to know "what" he had to say.... But I understand about her parents wanting justice for their little daughter.

I didn't realize there would be a "jury trial" - I thought it was just these magistrates deciding the case.

Thank you all for the updates. I've added to Adrien's file re NL's phone pinging in the same city.

MAËLYS CASE: NORDAHL LELANDAIS HAS GIVEN EXPLANATIONS TO THE INVESTIGATING JUDGES

France Info
https://www.francetvinfo.fr/faits-d...ue-face-au-procureur-de-grenoble_2664964.html

Nordahl Lelandais, who confessed in mid-February to having "involuntarily" killed little Maëlys in late August in Isère, began "providing explanations" to the investigating judges of Grenoble who questioned him at length on Monday 19 March. "Unlike previous interrogations, Nordahl Lelandais spoke, and this time gave arguments, according to the Grenoble prosecutor, who reserves the explanations provided by the suspect for Maëlys' family," Denis Sébastien reports live from Grenoble.

"Nordahl Lelandais faced three investigating magistrates who sought to determine the exact circumstances of the girl's death," the journalist said. "In his confession, Nordahl Lelandais had spoken of an involuntary act, an accident. Another element that the judges wanted to hear him about today: The investigation revealed that Nordahl Lelandais had consulted child *advertiser censored* sites during the weekend of Maëlys' disappearance.

Nordahl Lelandais, 35 years old, had been taken Monday morning from his cell in the specially equipped hospital unit of the Lyon Corbas prison at the psychiatric hospital in Vinatier (Rhône) where he had been admitted on February 16. He returned there in the evening.

Hi Niner! In France there are basically (very basically) 3 types of penal infractions with their own tribunals/courts:

Contraventions - very minor infractions such as littering, not feeding the car meter, going a little too fast with your car, making too much noise at night... They result only in a fine given by the police and sometimes by the Tribunal de police by magistrates.

Délits - theft, sexual assault against a major, fighting and wounding someone, small drug traffic... Punished by fines and/or prison up to 10 years, judged by the Tribunal correctionnel by magistrates.

Crimes - Murder, rape, sexual assault against a minor, kidnapping, big scale drug traffic, counterfeiting, terrorism... Prison from 10 years up to life, judged by a Court d'assises with jurors. For terrorism though there is a special court with specialized magistrates.

[I studied law for a while - for once it's useful :happydance:]

Sounds like he’s just telling a story that goes along with the accident theory. Hopefully there are bits of truth they can use.

There is news about the search for Adrien Mouliarmé and the bulk of it is behind a paywall.... yes, the first month is free and then you are stuck....

Adrien Mourialmé disappeared in the Lake Annecy region: our revelations about the disappearance of the man from Namur

On 5 July 2017, Adrien Mourialmé, a young man aged 24 from Flawinne (Namur), disappeared into the Annecy Lake region (Haute-Savoie, France). His family has not heard from him since. Today, several avenues are still being explored.

Among the suspects is a 50-year-old former military officer. He reportedly declared that he had had no contact with Adrien for a month before he disappeared. Yet SMS messages prove the opposite...

Adrien Mourialmé's family sincerely hopes that the investigation into his disappearance will soon come to a positive conclusion. For they have not heard from the young man for nine months now.

What we cannot read:

"The message Adrian sent to this man is not like him."

"He took some clothes with him."

The French justice is interested in three people.

The hypothesis about Nordahl Lelandais...

Thanks a bunch Lulu_la_Nantaise for the difference on penal infractions for France!

My bro-in-law is a lawyer, but Worker's Comp type litigations.

Is this a typo - or they don't mean 34-year-old NL??

Thanks again all for the updated articles!

So - no mention of his next court date? or any leaks on "what" went on at his last hearing?

TIA!
