Two days before the January 6 insurrection, the Trump campaign’s plan to use fake electors to block President-elect Joe Biden from taking office faced a potentially crippling hiccup: The fake elector certificates from two critical battleground states were stuck in the mail.

So, Trump campaign operatives scrambled to fly copies of the phony certificates from Michigan and Wisconsin to the nation’s capital, relying on a haphazard chain of couriers, as well as help from two Republicans in Congress, to try to get the documents to then-Vice President Mike Pence while he presided over the Electoral College certification.

The operatives even considered chartering a jet to ensure the files reached Washington, DC, in time for the January 6, 2021, proceeding, according to emails and recordings obtained by CNN.

Have no access to this article over here - EU rules - anything pertinent to the case - his next hearing maybe? TIA! :)

Mostly it says he has added 3 new lawyers to his team, one of whom who has previously (multiple times) argued in front of the Supreme Court. So some are speculating that he will take his case to the Supreme Court.

"Strickler said this will take time as it goes through the courts. Fulton County Superior Court and the U.S. 11th Circuit of Appeals have ruled against Meadows, so far."

and

"Meadows' attorneys have also asked the 11th Circuit to rehear his appeal. Instead of a three-judge panel, his team is hoping the entire court will hear it."

Also, fyi, the lawers added are Paul Clement (the attorney with Supreme Court experience), Erin Murphy, and Zachary Lustbader.

To make sure I have this straight - :D - he is appealing the ruling (on 12/15/23) of leaving his case in State court instead of Federal Court - correct? And thank you for his lawyers for this case.

Apparently yes, re: appealing. But no specific dates of those filings were mentioned.

Thanks a bunch for all that info!

The Georgia DA has had a romantic relationship with the Special Prosecutor she appointed, and he's so far received over $650,000 in taxpayer money? It will be interesting to see how the Judge handles this.

JMO

In a court filing Monday, former Trump campaign staff member Michael Roman accuses Willis of having potentially committed "an act to defraud the public of honest services" based on her "intentional failure" to disclose to alleged relationship that she allegedly "personally benefitted from."

"Accordingly, the district attorney and the special prosecutor have violated laws regulating the use of public monies, suffer from irreparable conflicts of interest, and have violated their oaths of office under the Georgia Rules of Professional Conduct and should be disqualified from prosecuting this matter," the 127-page filing from Roman's attorney, Ashleigh Merchant, said...

...The filing alleges that, based on "discussions with individuals with knowledge," Willis and a special prosecutor she brought in to lead the case, Nathan Wade, were "romantically involved" prior to her bringing him on to the case and continued their relationship during it, and accuses Willis of bringing Wade on as a special prosecutor without getting proper government authorization to appoint him as such.

I guess Roman is going to have to come up with some proof of his allegations, seeing that he didn't bother to include any proof in his filing.

"The filing points to no evidence ... "
"The filing goes on to claim — without citing evidence .... "

Trump co-defendant alleges improper relationship between Fulton County DA Fani Willis and Trump prosecutor in filing, offers no proof

It is hard to believe anything Roman says, when he is an alleged lying liar who is under indictment.

Roman was indicted on charges of conspiracy to commit forgery in the first degree; conspiracy to commit false statements and writings; violation of the Georgia RICO Act; conspiracy to commit impersonating a public officer and conspiracy to commit filing false documents.

I think the goal is to influence the court of public opinion (Georgia voters will be on the jury).

Willis also is up for re-election. She's spending a ton of GA taxpayer money on the RICO case.

Attorneys for Floyd filed a motion for change of venue. Floyd seeks to move the criminal case against him from Atlanta's Fulton County to Coffee County, a heavily Republican county located in the southern portion of the state.

If Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee doesn't change the trial's venue, Floyd requests that McAfee swear in a jury from Coffee County to hear his case.

Floyd alleges he can't receive a fair trial in Fulton County Superior Court citing "media coverage, negative governmental press conferences, and the political bias of potential jurors."

Floyd's legal team has hired experts to study the potential bias, and they estimate the initial study will take six weeks.

Georgia Trump case Special Prosecutor Nathan Wade connected to 2020 open records controversy

Wade has faced an increasingly bright spotlight after Ashleigh Merchant (no relation to the author of this report), a defense attorney representing Michael Roman in the 2020 election case, filed a motion accusing Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis and Wade of engaging in “an improper, clandestine personal relationship.”

It is important to note: the filing did not provide concrete evidence in support of its allegations.

However, Wade’s conduct has been questioned before.

Following a series of inmate deaths within the Cobb County Jail, 11Alive filed an open records request in 2020 to better understand the circumstances surrounding the in-custody deaths.

[snip]

Nathan Wade’s law firm was asked to conduct this “third-party review,” according to a court filing on behalf of then-Cobb County Sheriff Neil Warren. An affidavit from then-Chief Deputy Sonya Allen said the firm “offered to conduct the review” for free.

Under Georgia law, open investigations are generally exempt from disclosure required under the Open Records Act.

But 11Alive reporting at the time raised questions about the authenticity of the investigation and 11Alive attorneys filed suit to release the records.

[snip]

At a hearing three days later, Wade said as of the time of the hearing, he had no records of his investigation.

[snip]

When pressed, Wade said he had created work product, “just not in the form of documents, communications, or records memorializing, reflecting evidence, or relating to the work.”

11Alive’s attorney asked what that work product was. Wade said he kept it in his mind.

“I have obviously my brainchild, what’s going on in my mind about it,” said Wade. “That’s what I have.”

On the occasions when Wade did take paper notes on interviews, he said he destroyed them.

“Got done with it, destroyed it, and walked out,” said Wade.
