His *advertiser censored** is grass...he is in federal trouble now, he's killed a U.S. Customs Agent and a judge...not sure if the judge is a federal case, but for sure the agent is.

I've heard them referring to the judge as a "federal judge" so you're right, his a$$ is grass.

Really?? I wonder what changed his mind. I guess somebody has to do it, but I know I would not be able to defend somebody who just killed my colleagues.

i don't know...i wondered the same thing, when i heard him say it...i couldn't do it either, but i would think there won't be much "focus" on the rape case, right now....could all kinds of appeals be brought up, if his defense atty dropped him???....not that it matters

The good thing about this is that he will get the needle within a few years rather than years and years. I'm so glad he is in custody and can't ever hurt anyone else again.

yeah, i think the FBI is holding the press conf, shortly....it's federal....do you live in GA?...how many are on death row there?....

Cypros,

The Judge was not a Federal Judge, but I believe it is a federal offence to kill a judge. I think that is what you a refering to.

It is beyond my understanding how in the crap that car sat in the parking garage for hours and was not found. What were LE doing? They said that the report that they had about the car was that it was seen leaving the building. So, how does that exuse not conducting a search of that parking garage with a fine tooth comb? What about evidence that might of been left behind? I really don't understand this one. Somebody dropped the ball big time!

I know. There could have been another victim in the garage, just lying there in need of help -- or dead -- and nobody bothered to even look! Incredible!!

Just heard an interview where a police official actually admitted that they never searched any other levels of the parking garage because they ASSUMED he would have driven out of the parking garage.....sounds like a bunch of keystone cops! definitely dropped the ball on this one.

Press conference on now, live on the link newswolf posted below.

They are not saying much,

He came out waving a white teeshirt!
The hostage was already out of the apartment, she is the one who called LE.(911)
FBI will be lead.
She didn't know it was Nichols until he told her?

GBI Director speaking now...

He forced her into her apartment as she was entering, (early this morning),when she could get away she called 911. and said Nichols was in her apt and had weapons swat arrived,
he surrendered

There will be a joint press conference later today.

So now it is coming out that he wasn't so sqeeky clean. Earlier I had read that prior to the whole rape arrest he had been clean. Not so. It was just reported that he has prior arrest record for drug charges involving a large amount of drugs.

I think in Texas you go to jail for awhile for a large amount of drugs. Heck, even this kid with serious DWI can't get out for 7 years, he was denied parole.

That man was smart who didn't get in the trunk - here two college students were overpowered and put in a trunk several years ago, dumped in a lake, at the hands of two high school druggies just like this guy. It was so tragic, architecture students, nice kids, good families. Makes you so mad.

It's better maybe to get shot, take the knife, try to run than get in that trunk. Unfortunately, you're in shock sometimes and can't think what to do.

Amen.ITA!!!

I'm so glad to hear that he is caught! :furious:

The needle is too good for this scum.

I am just getting home to listen to news and read the AJC but from what I have gathered the hero is the woman not the cops. She humanized herself and got herself untied from the bathtub then agreed to follow him to dump the ICE officer's truck and return. She continued to play into his game probably getting him to feel OK about going to sleep and she left and went to the leasing office and called the cops.(according to her story she said that he told her he knew where she lived and what kind of car she drove hence cooperation on her part) She outplayed him.

Shortly after LE arrived he surrendered. No back patting or good police work IMO, this is bad policing. This is a quick witted woman with survival skills.

I just hope Atlanta doesn't have a major attack and rely on LE.

Remember I live in the metro area so it is OK for me to criticize ruthlessly. And folks, today was so incredible as far as stories from residents. The fear was horrible. Events that usually draw crowds were empty. Parents wouldn't let their kids out last night. (Mine either and she is waay too old for momma's interference). No business at all this a.m., people hiding. It just isn't the way we were meant to live. Bottom line....something has to be done about our justice system!!!!!

I am hell bent about seeing criminals constantly getting out on technicalities.
We need more responsible sentencing and fewer releases. And, we don't even want me to go into criminal defense attorney's and their ploys.

Re-assessment of every factor is so necessary and should be mandated.I am sorry for the rant but I didn't sleep last night. I am cranky and so sorrowful for the victims. Thanks for listening.

Just got in. Wonderful news that the guy has been caught. SO glad that the female hostage was such a hero. She deserves a honor after honor and the reward money.

Took my kids to Macon to see "Because of Winn-Dixie"...great movie...take the family! I think everyone was talking about how unbelievable this whole situation has been. Please don't let any terrorists decide to come to Atlanta. Lord only knows what they could get away with. Heads should roll because of the green Honda incident. That was just plain DUMB!

Maybe I should move to Macon. Or somewhere outside of Atlanta. Nah, can't do it. I still love Atlanta. What I can do is voice opinions about Fulton county sheriff's department and their lack of control over inmates. Can you imagine, a 51 yr. old grandmother who happens to be 5' tall escorting a 6' 1" violent criminal to court who had 2 shanks in his shoes the day before? I am 5'5" and in my 50's and although I can get really pissed I don't think I could stop this guy. But the hero is this woman from Gwinnett county and I would love to put my arms around her and say, THANK YOU. I can sleep tonight because you are courageous.

Amen to that! Do you think they'll give her the reward money? They should.

They had better. No one and I mean no deserves it more than her. I can't wait to find out her name and then I can send her kudos....already have some things picked out.

I think the Atlanta LE should hire her as a consultant. They could use the help!
