Missing Person: The Dekalb County Police Department is investigating the disappearance of Jenna Van Gelderen. Jenna was house sitting her parents home in the Emory/Druid Hills area of Dekalb County. The last time anyone had communications with her was the late hours of 8/18 into the early morning hours of 8/19. Jenna's car, a dark blue Mazda 6 with GA tag # PWH5902, was found on Defoor Pl in NW Atlanta on September 6th. Her family has raised money for her return, but Crime Stoppers is offering a #cashreward up to $7,000 for any information that would help investigators make an arrest in this case.....

Could this mean LE is now thinking that a crime happened....or just a way Crimestoppers put it/interpreted it?

This was discussed from post #356 but it came to nothing :-/

I don't think it is relevant to her disappearance because I don't think she came back to the house that night because her phones went uncharged. So the tapestry was already missing from earlier in the week or was staged to indicate a theft by whoever brought her mum's car back to the house.
I just had another thought about this so bumping my post. J had her house keys and car keys on a lanyard and that has not been found. So she cannot have let herself back in IMO or they would be in the house. It has not been stated where the mum's car keys were found or whether J had a duplicate set on her lanyard too. This also leads me to suspect someone else brought that car back, not Jenna. JMO.

I know. No news since the discovery of the car, but loads more unanswered questions from thread 1.

Has it been stated if the parents car has been searched?

Do we know where the timeline stopped. Was it at the house?
11:30 by Opera in midtown? IIRC

I do not think that someone else brought back the mother's red car because it was parked in its usual place in a garage at the back. Only a family member or close friend would know to park it there and not outside next to Jenna's. I think that either something happened at the home or she went out again later and something happened then.

If she disappeared from the home in order to explain the car missing, someone would have to have arrived with her, or it would need to be two people or whoever took her car would have to come back to the house to get theirs.

I do think that if the keys could be found, it would answer a lot of questions.

Not if she has come to harm close to the property itself or its environs. I am not aware the house, grounds or environs have even been searched. If she came home she would have charged her phones.
I think the red car was only assumed to be in the garage on Friday a.m. and j's car was seen by Subie at the house then. He did not say the mum's car was in the garage on the Saturday a.m. AFAIK do you have a post number where this is stated, I must have missed it.

I realize I am the Greek Chorus here-but NAMUS has her last seen as 8/19 and it was entered by LE so I think we can feel comfortable the Jenna was physically seen after midnight.

The timelines for Friday and Saturday are confusing to me. Plans for searches and flyer posting seems to be the way to go to see if they can tease out some more information.

I am with Oriah-subie, what can we do to help push this case along for you, your family and Jenna?

:lurk:

Jenna's thread draws a number of guests, which is wonderful. Please consider joining Websleuths to share your insights into this heartbreaking case.

No tip or bit of information is too small-if you have any information or know of anyone who has information, please contact Crimestoppers or DeKalb PD. Reporting tips can be done anonymously and the sooner Jenna can be returned to her family the better.

I think she was last spoken to after midnight on the phone by the SC friend rather than actually 'seen' after midnight but that is moo of course. I think a member here entered the details in NAMUS.
Also, I stil can find no subpoena for J's phone records. Did anyone else try a search yet?
 to all the guests - we don't bite.

I dont know that we would see a subpoena recorded for an active ongoing investigation?

The case manager info I saw was with DeKalb-let me see if I can dig it up:

Ms. Winston is listed on several MP cases as Law Enforcement. I just thought it might be reassuring to know.

Here is a very important question that remains unanswered... did the ex-boyfriend go to the parents house? This hasnt been clarified yet. I would think that if what we are told is true (he didnt want a relationship due to her theft incident), hes hardly likely going to cause her any harm? You would think his reason for not being with her were due to good morals.

a post from yesterday intimated that most of us here know in our hearts that Jenna is voluntarily missing and I just wanted to chime in real quick to say, at this point, I don't. What little we know does not lead me to that theory.

Of course, I'm not LE, just a websleuth, and I'd like to come back and eat crow here too ("too" because I said the same thing in Taylor Wright's case, http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sh...Taylor-Ashley-Wright-33-Pensacola-7-Sept-2017)

I still want to know about that tapestry. Where is it?

Just feel so sad for Jenna.

Jenna was housesitting because of the cat. When she is not there on the Saturday morning (tel call by Subie then when he visits as well, ) then why wasn't that a problem? Did cat have food and water and clean litter tray for example. It's already been said the lights and TV were on and the house was in disarray plus the door was deadlocked. To me that indicates J left in the dark and was anticipating returning in the dark and the fact Subie couldn't get her on the phone indicates to me she did not get back to charge her phones either. But mum's car is there? She was still not there at 2 that afternoon so then alarm bells started at that point. When did she disappear? After her call with the SC friend, or before? Her phone records should clarify IMO. It cannot be explained by her clothing so we will have to await the phone details IMO . My view is she did not make it back, otherwise her phones would not have run out of battery. So someone else drove and staged the mums car and put J's belongings in her car to leave it in a bad area to get stolen. Only it didn't get stolen but sat there till police found it. AJMO.

Yes yes yes... This is what I believe too. I think someone else brought the car back too. Concerning the tapestry I think maybe something happened Thursday with the girls get together and it accidentally got broke. I don't think the tapestry has got much to do with it. I really think someone was having Jenna doing something eg delivering things or escorting on that night. When you actually look at how many stops and how many men she was in contact with in a small amount of time is unusual. OR it could be a set of men trying to frame it up like Jenna is escorting or delivering drugs.

I thought the post said involuntary missing. I don't agree she went somewhere on her own merit. I think something bad has happened. (Sorry subie).

Yes, you are right and I was reading too quickly. BlkMtnGirl did indeed say involuntary, I'm so sorry I misspoke - too late to edit my post!

But phew! I am glad no one said that, and promise to slow down. Sheesh. Sorry for the confusion for anyone! I'm human!
