His mom said he is always home by 11:30 on school nights but didn't know anyone he hangs out with? Also the kids interviewed that knew him didn't know who he hangs out with, besides the one boy who was suspended at the time. I seems odd to me that no one knows who he hangs with. His friends would be able to give better insight to any problems/altercations with other students. Jmo

The reports do say he has injuries and blood on his hands and knuckles.
And his parents made a big deal about his nails and their appearance apparently Kj like his dad kept his nails rather long. When they identified his body it was one of their first concerns re. Foul play. The video was in the MSM

This girl went to a rally for Kendrick Johnson - apparently she was told that Kendrick was beaten beyond recognition and the girl who found him is in a mental institution. Since we know he wasn't beaten beyond recognition, whomever told this girl that is cruel. [modsnip]

The Johnsons didn't want an award offered to find the "killer" of Kendrick. I find that odd.

Boston Rhynes is such an instigator. IMO

My reason for bringing up the shoulder width and mat diameter opening was just to point out how hard it would be for Kendrick to fit. When delivering babies and shoulders are stuck, the OB tries to pull one shoulder down and in, to tuck it, while keeping the other higher, and if that fails then they're off to the OR and someone pushes up vaginally while the OB does a c-section and pulls from the uterus. Additionally, a fractured clavicle is often the result and I didn't read about it on the autopsy snippets or whether his body was found at an angle.

And yes, there have been several instances where toddlers have drowned in 5 gallon buckets when they fell in upside down, but not any of older children or teens who have different body proportions (longer torso, arms, legs, etc) as well as increased strength and brain function. Also I have seen people who have been brought into the ER after committing suicide by hanging and they usu have tongue protrusion and edema and bruising but I have never seen blood. And I concede that I have not researched or seen a great number.
I don't know why Kendrick's parents would not know who his friends are or that he could be out till 11:30 pm nightly. I also can't fathom why they don't want to accept or allow reward money for info. That's truly strange.

It doesn't look like they were clipped at all. I think I misunderstood one of the articles that said the "fingernails were removed." I think what was meant was that the nails were shorter than usual but it doesn't look like that is because someone clipped them. They appear to be somewhat ragged.

BL, That's a good description of the consequences of hanging inverted but I just don't buy, at least not yet, that a teenager would dive or crawl into a mat to get shoes when all he had to do was lift the mat. And it would not have been easy to crawl into the mat with the reported dimensions. His hands were at his face, partially covering it according to the autopsy which suggests that they weren't extended over his head (I think). I would also suspect that he would have to extend his arms over his head and slightly skew his shoulders in order to minimize his size. I am still perplexed. In all my years, I have never seen anything like this unless it was a stupid and negligent joke or assault.

His arm was most likely extended when he went in, reaching for the shoe. It says that his arm was covering his face when he was found. So it looks to me like his face rested on his arm when he collapsed at the bottom of the mat. I imagine his neck would have bent slightly as well. His other arm was along his body, with his forearm bent backwards towards his head. When I attempt to recreate reaching down into something like a mat, my shoulder width decreases and my other arm is down at my side towards the back.

He would not have been able to lift the mat. It was surrounded and wedged by other mats. These mats are also very heavy.

on Friday' January 11,2013 at approximately 1610 hours, GBI crime scene specialist Horne and I placed Johnson's body on a sterile white sheet to conduct an additional cursory examination for documentation. It appeared that rigor and livor mortis had already set in, which was consistent with the position of the way the body was found Johnson's right arm was in a position that appeared to cover his face and his left arm was along his body with his forearm bent back towards his head. Johnson's fingers were loosely curled up on both hands. one black wire with white earphones was hooked around Johnson's left hand middle and index finger. There appeared that rigor mortis had set in because of the stiffening of his body. Levity was present on his head, arms, and chest area. Johnson's face was swollen and had blood exiting from his eyes, nose, and mouth. There was visible dried blood on Johnson's arms, chest, and face the smell of Johnson's body appeared that it was starting to decompose Johnson's eyes were swollen, fixed, and dilated. Blood was visible in the eyes with signs of petechia. There appeared to be no signs of, blunt force trauma on Johnson's face or body. There appeared to be no visible signs of wounds to Johnson's body. There were visible signs of skin slippage on Johnson's abdomen area, face, and arm. Johnson's body was documented with additional detailed photographs

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Now Kendrick`s parents say there`s no way this was a freak accident, and they say, you know, Kendrick always wore his fingernails long. But when cops found his body, head first inside this gym mat, his fingernails were cut very short. They were almost purple. Listen to this. Because look at this. This is unbelievable.

I mean, obviously when somebody is fighting back they can scratch. And we all know from watching "CSI" and covering real cases that the assailant`s DNA, skin gets underneath the fingernails. Now suddenly his fingernails are cut very short. What do you make of it?
