I don't trust all these internet site who place people at certain addresses. For example: my ex-husband never lived at the current house I purchased, but websites have him living here and junk mail in his name comes here.

I'm fairly certain my information is correct. I have located two of the four children in online yearbooks in the area. In addition, several of the children attended college in the area.

Interesting. The video says both the cars were in the driveway, not the garage. That makes me think this might have happened Friday night, before the Dermonds went to bed. I would think most older people would move the cars into the garage at the end of the night. I know my father would, because his cars are much nicer and newer than mine, and he wouldn't want sap to drip on them, which happens in very tree covered areas.

Maybe someone was waiting for Russell in the garage when he went in to open the garage door and put the cars in for the night.

Perhaps it was the cars stationary in the driveway for so many days and nights that led neighbors to think something was very, very off.

I believe the Dermonds had planned to attend a Kentucky Derby party on Saturday and when they didn't show bells went off for a lot of people at the party. If they were regular church goers, not showing up for church on Sunday would have again been noticed too. The sheriff says he believes it is an isolated incident and not random. I think it could have been someone who knew them well know to know that attacking them on Friday would give them a headstart on LE finding Mr. Dermond and, but what is the motive? Lack of evidence for a robbery is confounding and one of three type of perps:

1. Someone who had a grudge or beef with the Dermonds and money was of no consequence. You think someone would have at least attempted to stage a robbery though :waitasec:

2.Someone who could come into money if something happened to the Dermonds. Again, you would think someone would have at least attempted to stage a robbery. :waitasec:

3. A complete drugged-up higher than a kite psychopath who didn't have to have a reason to murder. :scared:

"Dermond is not considered a suspect because most of her belongings were found in the couple's home."

http://www.heavy.com/news/2014/05/russell-dermond-wife-shirley-dermond-missing/

Okay what was missing that belonged to Mrs. Dermond? How much expensive jewelry did she wear? Again, that could get someone caught real quick because I'm sure the family already knows what she could have been wearing and have given descriptions to LE. I suspect even a pawn shop owner might even call and alert LE if someone suspicious brings in an expensive piece of jewelry. I wondered if they had a small dog or cat perhaps and if the pet is also missing.

WOW! I'm sure this has been discussed so excuse my repetitiveness. From the same article:

"The Dermonds live at 147 Carolyn Drive close to Lake Oconee. The house is valued $2.3 million and is listed for sale since January 2014. The couple bought the house in 1994"

http://www.heavy.com/news/2014/05/russell-dermond-wife-shirley-dermond-missing/

So, the house was for sale. This would explain why the house was immaculate. If you're trying to sell your house you would want it to be clean. I wonder if they were selling it themselves or through a realtor? It was put on the market in January. Were the Dermonds looking to downsize? Move closer to the kids perhaps. Were they expecting someone to come and look at the house on Friday or Saturday pre-Kentucky Derby party?

I think I have to agree with your #3 Bootsctr... Nothing else makes enough sense.

Some of my friends on the lake also feel this way, and you better believe they are all locking their doors now! (Though most didn't before...)

Thank you Dr. Watson. I'm glad everyone is taking safety precautions. It's sad but these days no one can afford to leave their doors unlocked. Strange days and strange people indeed.

http://www.heavy.com/news/2014/05/r...ent to 147? There are soooo many questions...

The 25 ft rectangles at both the top and bottom of this sketch are outdoor patios. They wouldn't have an enclosed shed or man-cave that blocks the view of the lake or the view of the house from the street side. The purple rectangle at the top also labeled "patio" is the screened-in porch (probably screened-in at a later date from when this sketch was filed with the tax records). You can see this and orient your view of the house from the many aerial photos taken by the news media. The screened porch, (gray-labeled) patio and (red-labeled) decks all face the lake. The garage is on the street side of the house along with a front porch and the front door (see the 8 ft. indent on the open porch - this is either double doors or a front door with side lites. So anyone messing around the garage area would have been well hidden from the lake side and any boat cruisers that might have seen anything, as well as probably being screened from the neighbors by all the trees...

(My own thoughts and opinions from being in real estate and reading these sketches for years)

They probably have it color-coded incorrectly but the 23 X 24 and the 36 long area both are the same color as that in the key for garage. As you and someone else pointed out the skinny area may well be a porch with an 8 foot double door but their garage is definitely not detached.

Wait...this article says their house has been for sale since Jan 2014? None of the websites seem to show that.

Shoddy reporting - I saw this earlier in the week. Wrong address, but it caught my eye, too.

The house directly next door is the house for sale. But I'm glad for the post, because that hasn't been reported in the news.

This puts a WHOLE new spin on things for me. My best friend just recently bought a house and when we went to the open house together, all the neighbors were there (wanting to meet prospective buyers who might become their new neighbors).

Three months on the market puts a lot of foot traffic thru what is normally a secluded and quiet neighborhood. Also makes me think the Dermonds might not think twice about inviting someone in who they previously met at an open house. What might be considered suspicious behavior by a stranger would be looked at as due diligence as a prospective buyer. Perhaps they see a person sitting in a canoe outside their house and recognize them from an open house, they think "oh! how smart...they're viewing their new house from all different angles"

That definitely deepens the suspect pool.

Welcome, Outlier! I think it is a mistake but another house is on the market so yes, that could give others access to their immediate neighborhood, cul-de-sac.

You can bet that LE is SCOURING every person that came through an open house or was shown the home for sale, that's for sure!! You know, someone could have been shown the house that was paid to "look interested" and report back to them.

The next door neighbors having their home for sale also explains why she is frustrated with the security around the Dermond's. That will definitely make someone think twice before considering buying their home.

"Dermond family friend xxxxx said he drove to the vigil with the couple’s next door neighbor.

"She's got to get over it, she's just got to get over it security around her home. It’s tough, it’s tough,” xxxx said."

From looking at the Zillow listing overhead map I hadn't realized how secluded the Dermond's house was. It appears there is one empty lot between their house and the one for sale but on the other side looks like 4 empty lots before another house already built.

I don't totally disagree with the drug-addict angle, though I think it's important for us all to remember that addiction can happen to anyone. I would suggest that many of the people that commit violent crimes while on drugs already have some pretty major underlying psychopathology to begin with. Many addicts are self-loathers and people with low self-esteem or poor coping skills who don't intend to hurt other people (even though they do through their addiction).

That being said, I definitely agree this could be something along those lines. My question, though, is: why not take any money or valuables? Under the influence, would they really have the capacity to so thoroughly cover their tracks?

I thought about covering their tracks.
I don't see how. If on meth they are often down right paranoid.

Aside from the Mexican Cartel, the Mafia, Scuba-Diving Ninjas and such....Has anyone considered that the perp could have done this FOR Shirley? It's probably a long shot, but I have seen, heard and read much crazier things in my life and nothing would surprise me anymore.

Where is she?

Do you mean like a deranged stalker?
