What happened to a Sheriff Sill's news conferences? Nothing new to report???

Maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part, but I don't think this will become a cold case. I think the Sheriff just wants to make sure all the i's are dotted and all the t's are crossed so as to make sure this is a solid case and that someone doesn't get away on a technicality.

I agree. I believe that he is gathering evidence on someone specific.
Don't expect any news today. Every LEO in the state will be in Forsyth for the funeral of Monroe Co. Deputy Norris, who was killed in the line of duty on Saturday. So sad.

Wildebeest's picture is how I feel about this case these days!

I would imagine that a closer look at their financial records might shed some light as to what happened to this dear couple. Did they owe people money? How did they spend their money? Were they supporting anyone? Did they stop supporting anyone? The list goes on and on... :twocents:

IMHO

Who does the finance investigating?

Good question! Sheriff Sills made it sound like he was going through the financial records himself. Perhaps they have someone on the force who specializes in investigating finances. You would think they would have someone who took a little time to run background checks on people who run drinking and gambling establishments?????? Ooops!

FBI/GBI have specialists who can go through financial records....using forensics. From what I've read, Sheriff Sills isn't using this resource. To me they would be helpful...the Dermonds seems to have had very involved and layered financial records.

The Big Break Invitational from Great Waters is live on the Golf Channel now and for the next three afternoons. Lots of scenery.

i think this task would/SHOULD be beyond the scope of a Sherriff in a small town, JMO, didn't sound like they had any specialists on it to me because ss said he had gone through the records...etc

I'm not FBI, but I'd love to put my nose in Dermonds' financial records.
Many ways to catch a whiff of con artists, scammers, and other more subtle miscreants
who may have wormed their way into the Dermonds' finances and lives.

Going back to square one is a excellent idea IMO.
I can't believe this still hasn't solved. When I first started following I expected a speedy resolution. For it to drag on this long makes me think it was random or done by a professional. But that still begs the question...WHY?
It makes no sense.

I'm beginning to think there isn't even a square one. How can anyone...pro or not...come and go and leave absolutely no evidence? It can't be done. Another nagging question to me is why is the reward still so low? The Dermonds deserve justice, and I'm thinking it isn't going to happen.

With all the money involved, I think I would be screaming for more help to solve this case, and hiring me someone to help. I don't know if a private investigator would help or not, but there has to be someone that can solve this!!! The brutality of killing the Dermonds seems like rage to me, but WHY? Why take his head?? That just sent chills down my spine typing it. Someone or some people were awfully MAD at the Dermonds, and wanted them DEAD DEAD!! They didn't rough them up for a combination code to a safe, or whatever, they didn't beat them to frighten them, no... they KILLED THEM!!!! And I say they, but it might be one person. I don't know. The only other thing I can surmise, if there is no foreign DNA found, no foreign fingerprints, then it must have been someone the Dermonds KNEW! And that clean house, well, maybe it wasn't Mrs. Dermond that kept it so spotless, but whoever killed them!!

If you have such a clean home, and yet nothing seemed out of place? No blood except possibly in the garage? Again, doesn't add up!!! Why would a stranger care if the home was full of blood? Why would a stranger care about leaving all valuables within the home?? Heck, why wasn't the home ransacked?? Wondering if toxicology has come back and if it showed anything? Could the Dermonds have had visitors, someone they knew, and had a glass of wine with them, or went somewhere with them, and were completely taken off guard when they returned home and were attacked? But we don't even know if the garage WAS the crime scene!!! Maybe was killed somewhere else, but then, why return the body to the garage?? So someone would find it!! How much life insurance did he have?? Why the different modes of death? Or was it the same mode of death, but different modes of disposing of them?? If they both died of blunt force trauma, and the perp found removing the head to be difficult, then why not just leave Mrs. Dermond laying in the garage with her head??? NONE OF IT MAKES SENSE! Was Mrs. Dermond taken away for some reason, and told she would be fine, IF Mr. Dermond responded to their demands??? As in, she was taken for ransom? But....he was killed while she wasn't there?? No, that doesn't make sense either....because there would be some type of money trail, unless they DID keep money in the house, and it WAS given to the perps!!

I know people that are not as rich as the Dermonds, yet they don't keep all their money in a bank.

JMO!!

Just checking in, hoping to find news that SS is on the trail of the murderer. So disappointed that this case has not been solved.

Back in the first days, it seems it was reported that Mr. Dermond dabbled in selling gold. Does anyone else recall seeing this? Or, do I have cases mixed up? TYIA

SS was interviewed on Macon's Channel 13 a couple of days ago. Same ol',same ol'.
Shortly after the murders I asked sheriff and judge friends what they thought about "who done it" and every one said that it was a hit.
I hope that the FBI experts are going over the financial records for clues.
SS does know more than he is telling but there seems to be a lot of gaps.
