What really bothers me about this is that it's buried in an article rehashing arguably trivial information relating to the McCann case. I mean, shouldn't it be newsworthy enough to be its own story? Or is the fact that the child isn't Madeleine McCann the only one of any consequence?

Well, as the supposed Madeleine-sighting debacle in Morocco last month proved, some Moroccan children are blond. It makes me wonder if this is another Moroccan child mistaken for a European one.

Yes, emery, I realize this child in Morrocco deserves just as much attention, if she is a kidnap victim. All I'm saying is that it could be another mistake, and we shouldn't jump to conclusions. The other little girl seemed to be different from her family also.

I'll believe it when Interpol announces they have reunited her with her "real" parents.

Seems to me that the report of the blond child being found was announced to merely make people think it was Maddie. If so, that is sad.

That means that for part-time work as a doctor, Kate's salary is US dollars is around $80,000 a year. And of course, Gerry being a heart specialist and working full-time would probably make a lot more. Sorry to tell you, gord, but that in my book that makes the McCanns wealthy by most standards.

Although I cannot find the photo now, the news media had a picture of the McCann's home. It's quite nice - at least, outside.

Are the McCanns destitute? Were they going to lose their home? How much do they have stashed away? The McCanns must have savings, etc., but where's the accounting of their financial status before the decision was made to pay their mortgage?

I find it trivial in comparison to the news that another english-speaking child has been discovered in Morroco and is believed to have been the victim of a kidnapping, which is buried in one sentence at the bottom of the article. That, to me in any event, is an example of not having one's journalistic priorities straight.

I understand.

But I think the sighting and alleged kidnapping is a ruse by the McCann team. I could be wrong, but it looks like a "see, it could happen" moment.

This article also states the PJ now beleives a ped. gang abducted her. More McCann spin is my guess. I could be wrong :waitasec:

If I thought for a moment that my missing child was possibly sighted in the Rif Mts. (or elsewhere), I would be on a plane with private investigators and whoever in a flash. I'd hire camels, mules, whatever it took. I WOULDN'T be spending money on a PR person.

it is ironic that the only people whoe are now looking for Maddeline are people hired by the Mcaaan team - There are private detectives in Morocco at the moment - If this other siting of another girl proves correct then at least something good has happened -

I know that people will never be happy with the Mcaans whatever they do - so be it , but at least they or their team is still trying still looking

I have no idea what happened in the Holloway case - I am discussing this case and the point made that the Mcaans should be on a plane heading out to Morrocco to follow up on sightings

They have hired a top Spanish PI firm who know the area , they speak the language and can go about their business quietly - There are also repiorts of ex SAS and other special forces being employed

what good would it do to have teh Mcaans and 50 odd journos TV crews landing in some mountain in Morocco - If there was a posibility that Maddeline was in the vicinity - then after that lot landed she would be miles away .

Your assumption that they would be hounded works beautifully into the web they have weaved. For that to be an excuse not to be a physical part of the search sounds reasonable for parents who leave children unattended.

The mccanns get bashed whatever they do - they get criticised for starting a fund , criticised for touring the globe to raise awareness , slammed for visiting the pope , now slammed for not searching the mountains of Morocco

I bet you if they got on a plane to Morocco there would be a queue of people lining up to have a go . I can see the headlines now - Gerry and Kate holiday in Africe , G & K leave twins again , G & K waisting fund with jaunts to Morroco

I agree that the urge to do that would be strong. But, the experience of a few heartrenching false leads and some level-headed advice from child-abduction professionals that it isn't a good idea to go traipsing to the far corners of the world every time there's a reported "sighting" of a little english-speaking blonde girl would hopefully convince you to suppress the urge and wait to see if the report can be substantiated.

Last summer my family took a vacation in Germany. We were walking around a small lake with a large group of relatives when I suddenly realized my nine-year-old son was missing. My husband and I spent about 30 minutes in sheer panic. My first instinct was to run willy-nilly all over the place screaming his name. But, after about five minutes, I became oddly calm and my biggest desire was to stay right where I last saw him and let all the other people around me fan out and see if they could find him. As it turned out, he had gone on around the lake and eventually some of the people looking for him found him. I am still surprised that the urge to go searching for him myself quickly died away and a stronger urge to coordinate the search and stay where he'd last been seen took over.
