She kept on asking GZ if he's going to testify when the defense hasn't formally ended their case yet.
She had notified him this morning that this would be happening, neither GZ or the defense is surprised by this, its protocol.

poor george, he doesn't know what he suppose to do, he was asleep thru most of the trial. imo

Which was why West was so desperate that GZ not say anything. West didn't even trust GZ to say "I want more time before making a decision". GZ may be innocent but IMO West is a very irritating person. Obviously he irritates the judge too & probably others in the court room including some jury members.

I'm generally pro-prosecution in this case although I'm waffling this point. The judge is clearly biased against the defense. That exchange a few minutes ago was amazing. I also watched until she adjourned court and walked out last night. I think she wants done with this case. IMO.

Did she rule or address the issue of the defense witnesses that talked to each other?

I know how you feel, this is a difficult and emotional case.

Yes, wasn't that something last night? Mid-sentence and she turns her back on him and walks out the door. Her clear bias makes me really uncomfortable. IMO

Don West, IMO, has shown himself to be a Bully with his confronting the very affiable Judge Nelson when ALL she is doing is advising GZ of HIS Rights AND asking him what EVERY Judge is compelled to ask of a defendant.

Don West , in challenging The Judge over and over...shows his ignorance in Court Protocol. Shameful IMO He should know the basic law in Florida

He looks like A Judge Wannabe ...earlier today O' Mara shook his head at West when he tried to argue with Her Honor. IMO

Court protocol, like asking if a defendant is going to testify until the defense has rested?

You're in the minority on this one, that was out of line and disturbing behavior by the judge. IMO

I wonder if Judge Nelson's demeanor is affected by the presence of her "boss"? Angela Corey in the courtroom today?!? I like how the camera turned to her face after the exchange with West and Nelson.
IMO MOO

Missed that. Just wow....something wrong with Florida for a LONG time. IMO

This is IMO because I can't remember where the site was, but imo it was Mr West who went to the appeals court, when denied initially by Judge N, to do Crump depo, and to have Tox report in, and won those...That may be the tension...IDK JMO

Oh, I didn't know any of that. I can clearly see the difference of how she responds to MOM versus how she responds to West. I hope she can keep a cool head the rest of the trial. I'm sure they are all exhausted. I feel for them all.

I think the last witness pegged GZ very well. He said GZ was non-confrontational and would not say something mean to someone's face. He came across as very meek and frightened as he answered the judge. His voice is high pitched too. IMO he was absolutely 100% the person screaming for help. IMO MOO

Maybe that will open the door to his previous violent charges...IMO

IMO, the evidence of ill will is GZ own words calling TM bad names and assuming he was "up to no good" when he was on the phone with LE....

He certainly didn't think, "oh, as neighborhood watch, I'm going to offer to escort that nice young man home so he gets home safely."

I agree that it was not at any point, cold-blooded murder.

Imo, I believe it was feverish, hair-trigger murder because TM was fighting to get GZ off of him, as Rachel testified.

Fight or flight is real....for myself...as a twelve-year-old girl, and home alone...I had the fight instinct when a burglar broke in.

I was terrified and my adrenaline was pumping, but "fight" kicked in and I banged open my bedroom door, saw the burglar, and SCREAMED at him to "get OUT."

He left (obviously didn't realize a kid was home and must have been your garden variety burglar, not a rapist/child killer).

But I guarantee that if he had tried to touch me, much kicking and hitting would have ensued.

Why my reaction wasn't run, hide under the bed, "flight"...I can't tell you.

But I do know what it feels like to be very afraid and lash out and act tough.

That's why I think TM could have been afraid and hitting GZ.

So then does not TM have ill will toward GZ when he calls him epithets?

The proof shows that until GZ shot TM he was the one under attack. Not the other way around.

OK, but is it not ill will calling GZ a 'creepy whit ****'? Or is that just accepted language for someone, every a 17 year old?

TY for posting this tweet!

I haven't trial watched anywhere nearly as long as Kathi Belich, but I completely agree with her on this.

Kathi Belich, WFTV @KBelichWFTV
The judge forced #Zimmermanon9 to answer about testifying despite his lawyer's objection. She has to ask him again anyway.

Diana Tennis @TennisLaw
Wow. Absolute right to decide whether testify up until last second. That was crazy. Avoiding break for conversation later.

The Judge has every right to ask the defendant if they are going to testify and to also inquire if the defense has discussed it. The trial is coming near the end and she has a jury to think about. IMO

She notified him of his right not to testify, she didn't notify him that she was going to ask him straight out before their case is even done.

According to RJ, The information she gave the timing of the calls and the fact that TM was breathing heavy when she called him that final time after him telling her he was home, It does.

A person can ask a question of another without walking up to the person or being confrontational.
It seems to me that it would be likely that once coming face to face to a person that had been watching and following you that you might ask why.

IMO

If a Judge cannot control her emotions then my God she does not deserve to be one. Find another occupation.

IMO.

Contrary to the portrayal of judges in fictional films and TV dramas as wise and objective people, many judges are no more than pompous political hacks who were appointed through a political connection.

LOL...like the Supreme Court in Florida?? IMO

My opinion is that TM called GZ names because he was scared,

I know I would be scared if in the dark, a stranger in a vehicle was slowly following me, got out, followed me on foot...etc...

Maybe TM would not have been afraid, but I'm thinking human nature.

No. He does not have to decide until their case is completed. Asking him when he will be ready is not appropriate. He can not answer until he knows how his case looks in the entirety.

I think MOM has his hands full trying to not only defend his client to the best of his ability, but also trying to rein in DW. MOM looked positively stricken when that exchange happened. IMO, the defense should not have to worry about ticking off the judge. She is there to uphold the law. Not to persecute either side. JMV
