Given the threats made to sue the Portuguese press, nobody is going to say a public word against the McCanns in the UK. Which is fine, I guess, let the investigation go and lead where it may.

It has always seemed funny that we know next to nothing about the McCanns before they went on vacation to Portugal. So few interviews with anyone besides designated family members- no business associates or hospital workers or even patients.

My blog, if I had the presence of mind to write one while my child was missing would go something like this:

It has been over five months since my beautiful daughter was abducted by an unknown person or persons and I am utterly bereft. There is a huge void in my life which cannot be filled. Whenever I look at her picture or see her toys, a lump wells up in my throat and tears stream uncontrollably down my cheeks. I can’t imagine what she must be suffering, I don’t want to, but horrific thoughts keep entering my mind. Horrible images which I just can't banish. I know how cruel and sadistic child molesters can be. I can’t sleep, eat or even function properly. I just go through the motions. I feel sick in the pit of my stomach. I know Kate is under stress, but to me, she looks to be a very unpleasant, uptight, and regimented person. Too skinny, too ordered with all the jewelry and just-so makeup even with a missing child. Looks like a ticking time bomb waiting to go off, which may have been what happened. I'd like to hear how she treated nurses and employess where she worked.

Kate's demeanor, of course, could have changed since Madeline disappeared, but I agree with your assessment. She seems cold and distant.

Geez! I hate Madeline's website. It just irks me to look at it with all the emphasis upon $, the strange pics of Madeline's eye, the "eye" graphics, Gerry's strange blogs. Maybe I'm weird? Am I the only one who thinks this way?

I feel the same way. It's a very "busy" visual site as well, which is distracting to focus upon, so I don't think it's that effective.

Yup! I definitely agree with your description of Kate. On most of their videos she appears to be angry and annoyed with Gerry. I watch her eyes and her body language, and I get the feeling she's paying very close attention to what Gerry says in the interviews as if she's auditing every word.

Day 160 - 10/10/2007

After a few days of ridiculous newspaper coverage in the UK and Portugal it was heartening to hear of the statement this evening from Mr Ripeiro, the National Director of the Judicial Police in Portugal. He has again emphasised that all lines of the investigation, not only Madeleine’s death, are open and that much of what has been written is pure speculation and in some cases misinformation. Scientific reports that we drugged our children clearly fall in to the latter category.

In the coming days and weeks we hope that only factual material is reported, allowing everyone to focus on finding Madeleine and who took her.

Day 166 - 16/10/2007

Life in Rothley is definitely quietening down although daily photographs of us leaving the house still seem ‘newsworthy’ which I find incredible. We are slowly trying to return to normal and it is heartening meeting ordinary people who are very supportive and sympathetic. We have managed to catch up with quite a few friends in the last week, which we have actually had to build up to because of the emotions involved in talking about what has happened. We also had our first visitor from Praia da Luz who spent a few days with us. It was touching to hear about our friends there, who continue to hold weekly vigils praying for Madeleine and her safe return.

The media frenzy is gradually subsiding with just occasional unsubstantiated reports of ‘evidence’ appearing. It is very encouraging that Mr Rebello’s officers will be seemingly reviewing all the material in the inquiry, which will hopefully identify areas for further investigation. Contrary to some other reports Kate and I do accept that Madeleine is ‘probably’ dead. We know it is a possibility, however the fact there is no evidence Madeleine has been seriously harmed gives us ongoing hope that she will be found alive.

Finally, thank you once again to evryone who has written to us or sent messages of support. Calum has been away for a week on holiday and we will be updating the messages of support very soon. We would love to reply to everyone personally but the huge numbers make it simply unfeasible.

I agree, and detect some 'lack of ease' between the two of them.

In our Media links only thread, we have lots of pictures and videos of Kate and Gerry going back to the early days of the case.

One parent will start to speak, and the other is hyper-vigilant, hanging on every word as if afraid of missing cues. Kate glares at Gerry, or they hold hands so hard the white shows in their knuckles. This has always been the way the McCanns operate, and it's very suspicious.

While I started to read a little bit about detecting liars, I quit after a few short hours of research for fear that reading what the experts say may actually cloud my abilities. Instead, I mostly rely on my intuition and my gut instincts.

This last weekend we went to visit friends and Kate’s parents. It is the first time we have been to Liverpool since we went to Portugal on holiday in April. Sean and Amelie had a great time playing with other young children and it was good for Kate and I to catch up with very close friends. We attended the ‘children’s mass’ in the church where we were married and I met the local priest who also happens to come from Glasgow.

We welcome the announcement from Mr Ribeiro, the National director of the Judicial Police in Portugal, that our friends who were on holiday with us in Portugal are to be re-interviewed. We do not know how many other ‘witnesses’ will be interviewed but obviously we want to be eliminated from the inquiry as soon as possible. We constantly hope that one of the other lines of investigation leads to Madeleine being found safe and well.

It isn't the fact that Gerry talks about his religion, it the way he talks about his religion. To me, it often comes across as a defense.

The confusion arises with Hitler as he was actually born into a Catholic family but he rejected Catholicism & Christianity & described himself as a pagan.
