PPL involves big stadium - maybe football size - holds over 10K or 15K people - filling up . . . .took me over to where the seat was - the event was Nat. Anthem and Canadian Nat. Anthem . . . . use the name Entertrainment . . . Entertaining Training . . tooks notes in my journal - took pictures


Entertainment/training - designed to . . .give more training - not be boring - usually rivited to - lot note taking - there are people who come out and rally up the crowds - ring earners speeches - success stories generally very inspiring . .

Start somewhat mid morning - break for lunch - and then go into late afternoon -

I went to go get sushi with Michelle - when I got back to seat and there was TA and he invited me to that seat everytime so I just stayed in that seat.

Jodi Arias on the stand

--People at the banquet encouraged Jodi to become more involved in PPL. Travis encouraged her the most.
--There were people giving ring speeches, they had earned $100,000 within a year. Travis did not have his ring. Said he made close to $80,000, Martinez objects due to hearsay.
--Travis would have been at the executive director level to get tickets to the banquet.
--You can be an executive director and not earn $100,000.
--Travis did not make a speech at this banquet.
--re: level of income of people in the room, you get a ring when you earn $100,000, when you earn $1,000,000 you get three diamonds. People were mentioning their lifestyle and how it had changed.

--After the banquet her and Travis left the ballroom. They milled around outside and he took her around to get pictures done with some of the other executives. Then went back to the room to change into regular clothes.

--The session was in a large room that can hold over 15,000 people. Jodi took her over to where their seats were. There's training, speeches, "entertrainment". Jodi took notes in her journal and took pictures. Training is for new products and speakers rally up the crowd, more ring speeches.
--Traning session goes until late afternoon. Jodi did not have lunch with Travis during that day. After lunch she returned to her seat with Travis and stuck with that seat for the rest of the convention.
--Jodi doesn't remember the Friday night.
--On Saturday she was clear that Travis liked her. He was being very friendly.
--Jodi was still with Daryl at this time, says that Travis was aware she had a boyfriend.
--Travis was friendly but not inappriate. She pulled Travis aside and told him she had a boyfriend. They had supper at the Ranforest cafe with team renew.
--Jodi says she texted Travis and told him she would like to talk to him later. Martinez objects.
--Jodi indicated she would like to talk to him alone and they went for a walk around the casino. It was around 0100 in the morning. As they walked she told him she had a boyfriend, she liked him but she had was in a relationship.
--Says she is monogamous, if she is with Daryl she is with Daryl.
--Says that Travis assumed that is what she was going to talk about. She was able to relax a bit more. They then went and sat down and talked for a few hours about everything.
--Travis encouraged her about her relationship.
--Michelle had warned Jodi that Travis was Mormon. She was aware Travis was Mormon. Didn't know a lot about Mormonism but knows it is the butt of a lot of jokes on South Park.
--Travis implied she should learn more about his faith.
--Travis did not attempt to kiss her while they were talking on the bench.
--When on the elevator, Travis leaned in like he wanted to kiss her, he was licking his lips and got close, he was in her face, about 4" away. Martinez objects...sustained. Travis licked his lips and said "I wish you didn't have a boyfriend". Martinez objects...sustained. Jodi says she did not kiss him. Travis put his arm around her when he walked her back to the hotel room.
--Travis made it very obvious that he wanted to kiss her but he was obviouly restraining himself. He did not attempt to invite himself into the room.
--The next time she saw Travis was on Sunday morning at a break out session. Travis invited her to go back to the MGM for a buffet breakfast. Jodi accepted the invitation. There were other people there. They were people from Jodi's team.
--After breakfast Travis checked out.
--Travis said that he would call Jodi but she didn't expect him to call. They hugged.
--Jodi left the convention with Michelle and Lenore and then checked out and dove back to California.
--Jodi went back to Palm Desert and still considered Daryl her boyfriend but was not sexually active.
--Doesn't remember why her and Daryl didn't have sex but then says it was because they broke up.
--Came back from convention on Sunday and broke up with Daryl on Thursday. She loved him very much but it wasn't going anywhere. They had different visions that been like that since day 1.
--On Wednesday night she was invited to Travis' friend's house and knew Travis would be there and didn't want anything overlapping since she knew Travis was interested. Didn't want to be in a relationship and then see Travis. Didn't want to cheat on anybody.
--The things Travis said made her take a step back and take a look at where things were going and it motivated her to break up with Daryl.

--There wasn't anybody else that she had a close relationship to that could baptize her.
--Travis was the only person she could think of. He was the person she was initially thinking of. He had asked her if she had decided if she was going to be baptized. Says he was happy to learn that and she invited him to baptise her. This would have been in November, doesn't remember the exact date, and was over the phone.
--Baptism took place in Palm Desert. Open to church members. The Hughes' came out, a few other people in the business came.
--Did not invite her family as they lived 11-12 hours away. Did not invite them as they wouldn't make the effort to come out there.
--Says her family had misgivings about her joining the church. Family are aunts, parents, siblings and friends. Pretty much everyone in her immediate circle discouraged her from joining the church.
--Jodi invited Daryl but he did not attend.
--Says she was nervous because she didn't know what the baptismal process was.
--There was a podium in another room, opened with a prayer, a few talks given on a few different subjects, Jodi was led into the font, Travis was already in the font. The font is a giant bathtub that is filled with waist high water.
--Before entering the font she changed into an all white jumpsuit. You walk up. Travis held his hand up and made a declaration, she was dipped into the water and brought back up.
--Being baptised gave her a very peaceful feeling.
--Afterwards she went and got changed and went into the room and there may have been more prayers.
--Drove home that day with Travis. When she got back to the house, his car was parked there as they took her car to church. When they went inside they hugged, words were exchanged, and they began to kiss and things got intimate again. Jodi says she was not thinking of going there on that spiritual day.
--After they started kissing they were in her bedroom, standing next to her bed, kissing, they were in their church clothes, kissing got more passionate, Travis spun her around, and he bent her over the bed, got on top of her, thought he was going to keep kissing her, she was face down on the bed.
--Travis' hands were wandering, he lifted up her skirt and he pulled down her underwear and was pressing against her with his whole body, she could feel his erection. He unzipped his pants and began to have anal sex with her. This wasn't something she was expecting to happen. She did not want it to happen but she didn't stop him.
--When Travis entered her she didn't tell him no. It was painful...somewhat. She probably would have let him continue as that is what he had wanted for a while. --When Jodi was in public prior to Nov 2006 her and Travis did not act like they were in a relationship in public. When they were in the motel in Erinburg they acted like they were in a relationship. Travis grabbed her butt when they were at the truck stop.
--Jodi got the impression that their relationship was to be a secret...got the hints from his friends.
--She believed that when she was having the unwanted anal sex she was complying with the vow of chastity.
--Jodi says she was discreet, she didn't tell Travis about anything to do with Daryl, she doesn't talk about her sex live.
--Jodi had never been to Arizona. The next time she saw Travis was the Friday following the Sunday she was baptised. This took place in Mesa at Travis' house. The purpose of the visit was a regional event with a speaker that was flying in. She carpooled with a bunch of other people.
--The event was in Pheonix on Saturday morning. Jodi, and some others go to Travis' house on the Friday night. There were a bunch of people coming to his house to crash. The sleeping arrangements.....Travis told Jodi he didn't want to have any sexual encounter. Travis joked about oral sex...her giving him but he was concerned about his ex girlfriend was there and he didn't want to give her the impression they were together. The ex girlfriend was Deanna.
--Travis felt he needed to warn Jodi..Martinez objects due to hearsay.

Jodi Arias direct examination day 3

--re: Deanna Reid. Jodi's understanding of who she was, was that she was an ex-girlfriend of Travis', that she was somebody Travis was once very serious with, both in love, they separated, all of the history she knows is through Travis.
--Travis warned Jodi that Deanna was emotionally unstable and she would freak out if he attempted to move on and tried to date somebody.
--First time she was Deanna Reid was December 2006. Travis told Jodi to steer clear of her.
--From the time she met Travis to the time she was in his home in Mesa in 2006, Jodi was asked out on a few dates and she went on a few. Travis was aware of her being asked.
--There was no sexual interaction that weekend, Travis seemed hypervigilant about not holding hands, hugging etc. Slept on the leather couches in the front room. After all the lights were out they were laying on the couch talking and Jodi touched his fingers and pulled away and sat up and looked around to see if anybody was awake.
--Jodi was left with the impression that Travis didn't want anybody to know he was involved with Jodi. Martinez objects, speculation, overruled.
--Nurmi asks if Jodi was hoping Travis would hold her on the bed and have sex with her. She says "no".
--There was one romantic gesture when she was leaving. Travis walked her out to the car, Chris Hughes was in his Lexus SUV on his phone, and her car was parked in the driveway, Travis saw that Chris wasn't looking so he told Jodi to "kiss him quick" as nobody was looking.
--Travis doesn't want anybody to know they had a relationship in December 2006 even though they already had had around six sexual encounters. Jodi wasn't mad about that. It bothered her a little bit.
--They talked about the status of their relationship the next day. To her understanding, after talking she was encouraged to date other people.
--Had the impression that Travis wasn't dating anybody else. Says she found out it was false.
--Says she went on dates. Travis learned about the dates. This would be January of 2007. She was still in her Palm Desert home. Dates took place in Pasedena, CA. She went on dates with two people.
--Went on a date with a guy she met at a super Saturday event on November 11, 2006. The guy asked her out that day but there was nothing concrete. She wouldn't have considered it inappropriate to go on a date with this guy even though she had started seeing Travis.
--Man's name is Abe Abdeladhi (spelling). Went on one date. Developed into a platonic situation.
--Other person is John Dixon, he invited her for lunch, they went for sushi and were friendly.
--Travis knew of the dates. How did he know? Jodi didn't answer her phone that night. Travis was inquisitive that she didn't answer the phone. She told Travis that she was with Dixon. She could tell Travis was upset because of his tone and his mood changed.
--re: date with Abe. Same situation. Both dates were on the same day in Pasedena.
--From the tone of Travis' date he seemed upset about the date with Abe.
--Abe and Dixon weren't church members and she says that Travis repremanded her.
--Travis wanted her to only date church members.
--Nurmi asks "why would you allow Travis to have any input on who you dated?" Travis explained the importance of dating within the church and she agreed with him.
--Travis hung up on her that evening. She felt guilty about dating other people and felt like she had cheated on him. She wrote him an email and Travis sent her a text message. This started them on the path to become more official.
--Travis and Jodi officially became a couple in February 2007. First weekend of February they were hanging out in the house, reading books, sitting in an oversized chair next to his bed. Doesn't remember the day but it was Feb 1, 2 or 3rd. She went to his house in February and surprised him with a visit. Prior to that Travis and Daniel Freeman stopped by her place a few months earlier.
--Now talking about the time Freeman and Travis came for a visit, they went to her bedroom and made out. No sex. Clothing stayed on.
--Back to her visit in early February. Arrived around 0230-0300 in the morning. She was living in Palm Desert at the time. As she approached the door she had doubts about what he was going to think. She walked back to her car then turned around and looked at the house and there was lights flashing from a TV so she went and rang the doorbell. Travis and his dog answered the door. The dog was barking very loudly.
--Travis looked very surprised and had a big grin on his face. He pulled her into the house and his roommate came downstairs. Travis yanked the hood off her head and said "this is Jodi", Roommate is Thomas ????. The three of them went upstairs and sat on the beanbag chairs.
--Jodi told him it was okay if she slept on the couch but Travis balked and said that she could sleep in his bedroom with him. There was sexual activity the two nights. She doesn't recall specifics of the sex. There was no penile/vaginal intercourse.
--The next day they hung out and looked at a museum online, they stayed at the house all day and hung out. They might have gone to grab a bit to eat but she doesn't think so.

Ummm - I didn't overanalyze it . . . ummm therewere other couples that were holding hands. . it was very mild in comparaison in the way he was flirting with another woman . . .there was a breakout . . . can't remember if that was before or after convention . . .

definately not share a hotel room @ convention. . . . it was not looked good upon to stay in the same hotel room . . . he would stay with a bunch of guys and I would stay with a bunch of people . . . .. I knew that it was a church standard and I knew that we were going against church standard . . . . notthat time - evntually it came up but I didn't . . .

TA picked her up by the waist .. . she had a very beautiful black dress, lots of cleavage, . . TA looked like he enjoyed it . . . .
I didnt feel that that behavior was appropriate . . . I stood up . . . . walk away I had to walk right past them . . . . they stopped me . . . she just slurred. . .(?) .

I was appalled that he was doing that right in front of me . . I sat down in the bathroom stall crying . . . everytime door opened I would put my feet up - didn't want people toknow I was upset . . . shortly after Ileft the stall -checked make up- made myself look like I wasn't crying - half hour had passed (giggle) . . . someone noticed me . . .. Istopped and said hi . . . as I got near elevators TA texted me . . . oh I forgot something that happened before he texted me . . . let's just focus on after TAtexted you . . . ok

he met me on the elevator . . .as I came off . . . outside elevator there was a long hallway but a table and 2 chairs next to the elevator . . .

leave Oklahoma City . . . . you spent time at a friend of Travis had dinner there - drive back to Palm Desert from Mesa . . . working @ Quisto and California Pizza Kitchen I think . . . . seeing TA every week or every other week .

Recap event . . . post convention . . . . they were @ Chris and Skye's parents home. . . . TA was friendly but not anything more than that. . . . doesn't recall if he was overly flirtatious with other women . . . .

Recap was 1 day on Saturday . . . . stayed night @ Hughes' parents - after party disbursed we hung out and went to sleep in the same bedroom - at a ranch . . . .

meeting a bunch of people TA didn't introduce JA at all . . . .

After party @ the ranch . . . . stay @ ranch few more days - left Monday evening . . . TA wanted to meet up with me in Riverside - told me to go to the Mission - beautiful place for photographs while he finished up . . . I had to go to Verizon and then Iwent there to take pictures . . . he gave me directions to his Grandmother's house in Riverside in the evening, dark but not very late.

went to his Grandma's house - he introduced JA to Grandma but not as his girlfriend. . . we just stayed . . . . met her 3 times . . . doesn't want to get those things out of order . . . left Temecula to go meet her . . . . awkward at first . . . .TA and Ileft and went to Barnes and Nobel . . . that evening I think I drove home . . .

After you drove home to Palm Desert . . . . party was on the 31st of Jan - the last day of the month . . .

didn't spend Valentines Day w/TA - he did provide valentines gifts . . . . they were shipped to JA - she worked . . . just 12 days prior they had made it official . . . there was a package on my doorstep . . his return address was on it . . .I opened it before calling him . . . . a variety of things . . .chocolates, reses peanut butter cups. . . . hershey's all melted together . . . beneath that was a shirt he had been joking about giving me for weeks . . . I laughed I didn't think he would do something like that . . . . there were other items under neath it .. . pink shorts . . . I didn't see his name on the back of them . . . Is that the shirt and shorts youreceived on Valentines day 2007 Yes

Melted chocolate, tee shirt, shorts . . . . . one other thing beneath the shorts there were little boys underwear . . . spiderman underwear . . still in the package .. . don't remember the size . . in package . . . you could see different styles of spiderman underwear and a nice letter also
